I really only have one new image of me, which is once again not lolita in any way really. sweatdrop Anyways, my new 'do for my halloween costume (which I'm still waiting to get the pics back for).  Also I'll include one of my pumpkin since I'm so proud of it, it's just a webcam pic though so it's REALLY bad. Clickie!

This thread is a Members' PICTURE thread. You do not have to be dressed loli to post here, but they do have to be pictures of you.
rule # 1 is and has always been-
- Be respective to others. We do not want to ban any of our users for being disrespectful. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all.
While there is an epidemic going around with non-loli clothing being called lolita; I do not wish for the feelings of our members to be hurt.
I don't mean to sound like a big bad mod bully but I just can't stand the negativity.

No I mean a guide on how to dress lolita -- not lawl pink = sweet lolita. I mean the fact that max the skirt should be above the knee is about 2 - 3 inches, depending on height and length of legs. And things like do not wear black shoes with an all white dress.
I wasn't being mean -- I just said she wasn't dressed lolita. You of course had to raise hell about it. If I went through all these pictures where they claimed to dress lolita there would not be enough characters Gaia could hold in this post box.

I've been watching this all unfold for the past couple of days now, reading from one side to another to try and figure out what to say to all of it. I'm still somewhat at a loss for clarity.
To be quite honest, Musuu, I think that you're raising far more hell than anyone about it. I was unable to come up with a response at all after having read your comments, and still am having trouble putting words to the thoughts in my head. The request made most recently was not that you sugar coat your comments or even that you not tell people what to or not to wear, but that you show respect for your fellow guild members and their feelings.
Okay, so the outfit wasn't "lolita" enough in your opinion. Wrong skirt, wrong shoes, not enough lace, no sleeves whatever. That's great, but it wasn't just a matter of you telling her that her claim to Lolita clothing was incorrect. It was also the manner in which you did it. There is a difference between sugar-coating [as you yourself put it] and having tact and respect. Sugar-coating would be flowers and sugar, just like you said. Tact, however, would be an explanation rather than a self-defensive back-peddling when later confronted. So far, I've seen you display no respect or tact at all to anyone that you deem "inferior" or "not a good lolita".
Even now, your text is coming across as rather disrespectful, disdainful, and entirely rude. And aimed at a moderator, no less.
In addition to those things already said, I would like to also address your final comment: "If I went through all these pictures where they claimed to dress lolita there would not be enough characters Gaia could hold in this post box."
That, all by itself comes across as not only snobby, but as very elitist as well. I have not personally seen either in any large amount this guild, especially when aimed at one of the members. You act as if just because you know more about "True Lolita" it makes you better than other people and gives you a right to talk down to them without any consideration at all.
Until just a few minutes ago, I had held a fairly neutral stance on all of this and considered it merely a misunderstanding between people. Now, however, I'd have to say that it wasn't a misunderstanding, at all. If you dislike the clothes of the members of this guild so much and their opinions on said clothes so much that you can't behave in a civil fashion, I would suggest that you leave.

X_X I am so incredibly jealous of how pretty you are. And your selection of clothes! I love this argument. cloudy is most definately Not the epitomy of Lolita. I don't see very many lolita things at all coming from her direction, and she usually posts rude things, herself. I see her as more struggling to find out what actual lolita is. I don't mind there being non-lolita pics in this thread. But on OTHER parts of this guild there is a lack of activity and real understanding. Anyone can read a GLB and go shop at Hot Topic... EGL, I'm sorry, but your post about Gothic fashion is completely and totally misinformed. Goths do not wear only black. And to say that anyone who wears all black is goth is also an inaccurate assumption. Example: Rasputina. Refusal to wear anything other than white and light neutrals, and a little medium-dark brown. And Amy Brown's artwork, which many consider "gothic". Though I agree with some of what Musuu has said (and actually was on her side of the argument until boconnotto's post), I totally disagree with the lack of respect and lack of tact. Mu: No, I said that she wasn't dressed lolita, and I was STILL able to have a nice, civil conversation with her. Did you read how I actually said it? No, probably not, because tact is easy to skim over and miss. And she said herself that she KNEW a lot of parts about her outfit were not the most loli. ...on the other hand, I giggled when Musuu posted a picture.

I'm all for people having their own style - I have too, and most of the time it is not what you could call a lolita. But the thing is, that I'm informed enough not to go around the internet calling my outifts lolita when they aren't. They might be frilly and inspired by some Japanese brand, Emily Temple Cute is my biggest inspiration, but I don't go around calling it lolita when it is not. I don't want to sound stupid. razz
Musuu, while being blunt, is right. And the thing is, that there are a lot more rude folks around at livejournal who will bash the outfits to no end, if you call something non-lolita lolita. You take constructive criticsm here or there, it's a matter of preference I guess...

I dont really care, if anything i would have to say im sorry. im sorry i did not frill out the lace on my sleeves from under my back pack and im sorry i forgot to pull my skirt down from the top of my waist after sitting in the car for 1+ hours to get to the sweaty con. omg! an even bigger faux paw i forgot to insert a word about the way i decided to dress on a given day! oh mercy me! even though i used to word "loli" to describe my outfit (an abreviated easy toss around word showing im not harcore serious) i should have taked on the word "casual" before it. just so everyone could know that I wanted to walk around a con as a "casual loli" im so sorry that when i used the word "loli" while i was wearing primarly black, you guys thought i was trying to be a "gothic loli ta." im so sorry, i promise it wont happen again. mabye next time ill throw a headress on so i can be really lolita! @musuu if i really wanted to dress just plain gothic i would have not curled my hair, put on maryjanes, or wore a petticoat. i would have dressed like this with skulls and straps and arm warmers or i would have worn a really short skirt with fishnets and lace-up boots or wait i could have worn fingerless gloves and stuff with more skulls on it. or wait, even better, to be gothic i could have worn a transparent fishnet shirt with a ton of studded belts, or wait i could have just worn a short shirt with leater cuffs and collars all wrapped up in some nice stomper boots instead of waring marjanes if i realllyyy wanted to be gothic. but naw, i just wanted to be a litte "loli", just as a change. (edit, my picture post is on page 39 or 40, just for refrence)

Is it elitest that I think that everyone [except for the very few] who calls their outfits "lolita" AREN'T lolita in this thread? No. It's opinion -- and barely any one knows what lolita really is. Almost everyone from this community gets a "gothic lolita" idea from Gaia itself. People here even ask, "Who's Mana?" or "What's Angelic Pretty?" Can you people at least do SOME research?
Lolita isn't a skirt with lace. Lolita isn't a white blouse. It's more than that, and everyone just slaps on a damn Hot Topic black shirt and/or one of their excuses for a one piece and calls it lolita. It's NOT.
I'm not just aiming it at you, cloudyhead, I'm moreso aiming it at almost everyone in this thread. Sorry for pointing you out -- but you were ranting about Hot Topic people and whatnot but you were being a hypocrite. I had to jump on that. There are more gothic elements than lolita. Thanks for the picture share, I'm glad you have a "gothic" wardrobe.
Mod or not, saying that it's not "my call" to obviously show an opinion -- or even to go as far as saying "it's not gothic because it has some white" -- it's really stupid, even more than what you guys think I am spewing from my mouth.
