“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.”

[Hawkpaw knew not of the world around him. His muscles guided themselves. His claws tore at flesh, snagged fur and snapped spines. A rat here, a rabbit there, a vole and mouse--dead. Warm blood flowed between his claws, an unusual, yet delightful sensation. His eyes focused on the necks and backs of the infected, though he would occasionally catch a glimpse of the black-furred Thunderpaw, the light, bleeding body of Galespirit, the smoky-gray Emberpaw, the massive black tom, Fathom...They were working together. He caught flashes of gold--the Star Slayers--and then an unnatural pelt, one of bright blue and gold. Caesar, sitting on the sidelines of the battle. Hawkpaw would have questions for him later, but now was not the time. Feathtail lie dead, the first victim of what Hawkpaw feared would be many.
He leaped for a squirrel, and a rat. He pinned the rat down with one paw just after shredding the throat of the squirrel. Then, he dug his claws into the neck of the squirming rodent, feeling the satisfying pop of claws penetrating thick tissue and muscle and the warm gush of fresh blood. A grin crossed his face. What was he thinking, enjoying such a battle? Subtle giggles escaped his jaws as he lashed out at a rabbit. From within the waves of advancing infected, a flicker of eyes as cold as the hearts of the Slayers drew in his attention like a moth to a flame. Hawkpaw's involuntary grin stretched into a smirk as the ice-blue eyes narrowed at him in pride. The thin silhouette of a small tom formed amid the battlefield, his claws glimmering in the full moon's pale light. This was no mistake. The spirit cat forming before him was Scourge, terror of the Clans' ancestors. Hawkpaw had heard the story once, long ago, as a little kit. With claws reinforced with dog's teeth and the heart of a fox, this tom got a whisker away from ruling the forest. So, why was he here? As soon as the question formed within Hawkpaw's mind, amidst the yowls and snarls, the apparition vanished.
Hawkpaw's mind went back to the swarming infected. StormClan needed him. All the Clans needed him. He continued to slaughter, hints of joy still lingering within.]

(( Ahh! Sorry for the length! Is it alright is Hawkpaw's distant uncle was Scourge? I was hoping that he (Hawkpaw) could be related to Ruby... ))

“Beauty has two edges, one of laughter, one of anguish, cutting the heart asunder.”
_______________________________

[Robinwing burst into the clearing shortly after Caesar. She stood at the edge, feeling her blood run cold. Two massive, golden lion-cats stood in the clearing, snarling words at Caesar, while all around them, hoards of animals, infected animals, leaping, biting, snarling, scratching, screeching, killing...This was Madness.
Robinsong felt her paws move on their own, as if guided by the wind or the rivers of SeaClan. No. A dark tabby pelt brushed against her own, a tom's broad shoulders nudging her onwards, towards the battle as his scent flooded over her. Robinsong forced herself to glance at the spirit beside her. To her horror, she caught a flash of ice-blue eyes and a wide grin, white teeth shining as Robinsong was thrown into battle.]
Hawkfrost!
[Then, the ghost fleeted into the moonlight, and just like that, she was left to fight on her own.
Robinsong whipped around, unsheathing her long black claws and beginning to slash at the rabid animals in a shredding whirlwind of blood. She moved pawstep after pawstep towards the limp body of Feathertail, as it was being devoured by the creatures. She beat each off, either crushing its skull or snapping its spine in the proccess. Robinsong's heterochromatic eyes froze Feathertail's corpse. The once-pretty she-cat now lay with parts of her ribcage, various bones and innards exposed, large bite-marks scattered on her body, her tail half-eaten, one of her eyes bitten out and tongue partially shredded. A thought stabbed her like a thorn.]
Could this be what Darkstream looks like?!
[Just then, a screech erupted behind her, and Robinsong whipped around to see a vole and rabbit lunging for her throat and face. Her eyes hardened, and before she knew it, she'd killed them as well. Now, out of respect, Robinsong fought her way to drag Feathertail's body to the edge of the clearing, so no more of it could be destroyed. Once having done that, the she-cat leapt back into battle, her calico pelt splattered and stained crimson.]

[Brightspirit shook off the shock of seeing rabid prey run loose in the Gathering. She growled, and jump into the fray, claws out, teeth glinting in the moonlight. She sensed animals die beneath her claws, but she didn't care. One simple order had formed in her mind. Protect your Clanmates. Protect the Clans. And she was going to follow that order no matter what. She hissed, and spat, and killed, and protected her Clanmates. But where was Silverstar?. She looked around frantically, killing as she did]
"Silverstar?" [She whispered] "Silverstar! Where are you!"
[Brightspirit wasn't about to let her old friend and leader be killed, or lose any of her lives]

[Riverfang fought. Harder than ever. Everytime something died from his claws, he felt stronger. I'm helping to protect the Clans, and I havn't been able to do that in a long time. Brightspirit and I chose a good time to return.
He danced around the Clan cats, not wanting to accidently hurt them, and lashed out at surrounding squirrels.
He was trying to keep an eye on the younger cats, and Brightspirit, and it wasn't working. He was distracted, and it earned him a couple nips and bites from the rabid animals.
He shook off the pain and leaped over Brightspirit, and landed on a group of the enimies. You're mine now!]

[Brightspirit ducked as Riverfang jumped over her, and went back to killing some mice and squirrels.
Her foreleg hurt. She had been scratched many times on that one leg. And, man did it hurt!.
But, she shook off the pain, and went back following her orders, and searching for her leader, her fur splattered and sweaty. Her head pounded with exaustion.
She couldn't give up. Never, give up.]

[Riverfang could sense Brightspirit's tiredness. Her and him hadn't fought anything in a long time. Maybe leaving Stormclan wasn't such a good idea. Why did they ever leave? He wondered as he smashed the skull of a vole. Oh, that's right. Because of Starclan.
He was going all out now. Hissing, and clawing, and growling, and killing. Just trying to do his job. Once or twice, he saw some of the Star Slayers, and felt a surge of hatred, but then some animal would jump in front of his face, and he'd kill it. This wasn't easy.
And you know what? Some voice inside of him said, it's only gonna get harder]

((Ravenwing is SO flirting with Robinsong, this is the perfect chance to show off my playboy tom XD))

[The Madness. Yes, of course Ravenwing knew what it was, with all the chaos revolving around it, it was hard to NOT know what this Madness was about. Ravenwing had even come close to killing one of his own clanmates, as he had been so tempted to kill Mintpaw to put her out of her misery under the grip of the Madness.]

[Now, as he dashed into the clearing, he spared no other thought other than to wipe out these rabid creatures, rabid creatures who were spreading sorrow and pain to his fellow clan cats.] And putting she-cats in pain...Unforgivable! [He yowled inside his head as he flung himself into the battle, his ears flattened to his skull and his fangs bared towards the fast approaching horde of infected creatures, creatures that used to be their prey, but now, the hunters have become the hunted.]

[Two golden lions stood snarling at the tiger spirit Caesar, while aruond them cats were fighting for their lives. Without any hesitation, he bared his fangs into a snarl and flung himself into the fray. Squirrels, voles, rabbits, he lost count of what prey his teeth sank into. All he had revolving in his head were two things: to kill, and not to be killed. Soon enough, he found himself fighting next to a she-cat with a bloodstained calico pelt. He just had enough time to notice her beautiful mismatched eyes, barely recognising it as Robinwing of Seaclan - his clan.]
"Sorry there miss, couldn't bear to leave a pretty she-cat fighting by herself."
[He said smoothly as he twisted his neck, flinging a rabid squirrel squealing into the prickly holly bush nearby, his sleek black pelt already spiking up with blood.]

[Brightspirit snorted as she saw Ravenwing flirting with Robinsong. She killed more that night, than she had ever killed before. She soon lost track of the rabid prey that had died at her claws]

[Riverfang gazed over the fray. He was looking for Moonkit. She had gone back to Stormclan. He could tell. Something to do with the Starclan spirits. He had to find her. He had to know if anything had happened to their home. Brightspirit's and Riverfang's home. Old home, and new home. He wouldn't let anything happen to the place him, and his fellow Clanmates called home. The Stormclan camp. He was panicking as he killed and killed, his dark fur sticking up, clumped together with dry blood]

Mosstar burst throught the clearing and with her horror tons of prey infected with the Madness was attacking the clans, she saw Robinsong, Caesar, and Ravenwing already fight she yowled for her clan to join in to, she slashed at every mouse, squirrel, rabbit, and vole here and there,"I will be avenged for the death of one of my clan members, and those who are infected!" Mosstar yowled into the raging battle and slashed ripped and tore some more of the Mad-prey.

Arrowshine
Pride and honor and glory...

Arrowshine pounced and killed every living piece of prey that went her way, but to her horror they kept coming just pouring out of the woods like a majestic waterfall.

...All live in the colors to stand or fall.

"Wavepelt, worry about yourself! I'm doing fine!" She hissed as a squirrel dumbly darted under and around her paws. Willowstar began stomping, claws unsheated and sharp. The squirrel narrowly avoided her powerful paws and leapt for her throat. Claws slashed through the air, throwing the squirrel to the ground.

[Nightpaw was horrified. It seemed like for every one she killed, two more took it's place.] "Oh Starclan help us!" [She cried out in fear.]
[Just so everyone knows, I have NO idea what is happening right now...]

(Kitkat, Ravage released all this prey that's rabid. Don't let them bite you!)

[Brightspirit leaped around, killing squirrels and mice and voles. Anything she could get her paws and claws on. Her and Riverfang acted as one. Snapping, biting, protecting each other, protecting their Clan]

[In her terror she managed to kill more prey, her fear fueling her fighting. Because she knew no fighting skills she used hunting moves and instinct to kill off the rabid prey. A squirrel almost got her, but she managed to move at the last second and kill it. Soon she found nherself to be enjoying the battle. The scent of blood, the fear, she started to enjoy it. Killing more and more with each stroke of her paw. Why am I enjoying this so much? she asked herself in her mind. Why...

[ Something was wrong.

My shoulder's dull pounding had risen to a painful throbbing. It hurt to run, hurt to slash, hurt to do anything.

I hissed a curse angrily.

It seemed more and more infected poured into the clearing. Robinsong had dragged the mangled body of a cat out of the swarm.

To my horror, I realized it was Feathertail.

Distracted, I tripped.

My heart skipped a beat as I sailed under the feet of the running infected.

I expected to feel nipping here and there, but someone had whisked me out from under the chaos.

My tail hurt. Jaws. Someone was biting my tail.

I turned, and met Galespirit's robin-blue eyes. My tail was in his mouth.

He had risked crawling over to me and dragging me out.

I wanted to thank him, but he spit out my tail and killed a vole just as it leapt for me.

I tried to stand, but cried out in pain.

My shoulder wound had grown. All of the moving around had ripped it open wider, and blood spilled from it freely now.

Beginning to feel lightheaded, I staggered back.

Galespirit spat, "Foxdung!", realizing my condition, and pushed me under him quickly. The others continued to dance around us in a protective circle, slashing back the horde.

My head rested on the soft earth. My eyes were wide.

Time crept to a slow pace. Everything was in slow motion.

My vision was blocked at the top by the fur at Galespirit's belly, but I saw.

Cats moved slowly in mid-air towards prey that were moving towards them.

A meeting of claws and flesh, and sometimes teeth and bones.

Blood drenched the earth. I was covered in it now. It was Galespirit's, and it was everyone else's.

I glanced slowly over to my right where Moonkit's still form was. Her face was serene and calm, as if she was sleeping.

Blood stained her beautiful coat. I wanted to reach out and lick it away, but I couldn't move.

My shoulder was on fire.

I screamed. ]

"Fire, fire!" I yowled. "I'm on fire!"

[Galespirit glanced down, startled, then snapped his head back up and slashed through a rat that jumped at him.

I thrashed. The hot flames of pain licked at my shoulder.

I whimpered, beggin someone, anyone, to put them out.

Slowly. My life was spilling from me, slowly.

I had lost too much of it. I panted as I began to fade.

I had only a dim awarenes. I moaned.

Something soft was pressed to my face.

I wanted to close my eyes, and sleep in it forever...]

"No! Don't close your eyes, Thunderpaw!" Galespirit cried.

"But I'm so tired..."

"You will never wake up if you give up now!" he hissed.

[His voice was muffled. My senses were fading as well.

I moaned again.

Struggling to stay concious, I tried to keep my eyes open.

Lovescent.

It dashed by, slapping my senses back to me. I craned my neck, trying to see.

Time slowed down again.

I saw him. Hawkpaw. He was running by slowly, his muscles rippling. His beautiful coat shimmered in the moonlight as his strong paws pounded the earth.

I caught a glimpse of his eyes, unwavering and brave.

It took my breath away.

Suddenly, time slammed into me again, and he flew by, nothing but a blurr.

I tried to see him as he ran around us, twisting this way and that, but my shoulder screamed.

I shuddered on the ground as a pool of blood formed.

I licked my lips. Thirsty...I'm so thirsty...

Dim. Everything was so dim...

I tried to keep myself from fading. Hawkpaw, Moonkit, Hawkpaw, Moonkit, Hawkpaw, Moonkit...

I repeated their names, over and over, trying to concentrate on staying concious.

Stay alive...for them...Hawkpaw, Moonkit, Hawkpaw, Moonkit, Hawkpaw, Hawkpaw, Moonkit, Hawkpaw, Hawkpaw, Hawkpaw, Hawkpaw,Hawkpawhawkpawhawkpawhawkpawhawk..paw...]

~Skyepaw~

***A cat with broken dreams......

[Skyepaw burst into the clearing and began killing prey. This was her kind of game since her fighting moves consisted of only trying to kill to survive. Skyepaw was swating prey away, killing it. She didn't know much about the curse as she called it, but she knew that letting those with the curse bit you was a bad idea. Skyepaw's eyes blazed with anger and hate as she fought. She wouldn't lose to a bunch of prey and she would protect her new clan even if she died doing so. Skyepaw let out a loud growl before killing as much prey as she could.

.....who stands so strong. ***

[Icepaw, a meddicine cat apperentice knew barely anything about fighting or hunting. Her eyes were wild as she tried to defend herself. She felt the need to get over to Thunderpaw and help her wound, but Icepaw was having trouble fighting off the prey. Icepaw's eyes were wild with fear and determination. She needed to fight for her clan even though her duty was to heal. She knew that she had to do everything she could to live. She swated a mouse away from her quickly and then ran off to find some cobwebs. She found a bundle of cobwebs and got them quickly on her nose. After she had them she ran back to where the cats were and made a mad dash to get to Thunderpaw without getting bitten. Starclan must have been with her because she made it. She gave Tunderpaw a sorrowfilled look before beginign to put the cobwebs in place. As she finished a vole bit her tail. Icepaw yoweled and then killed the vole. She knew that she would get infected now, but she had to help Thunderpaw.]
"Keep fighting! Don't give, never give up! We can win this!"
[Icepaw yoweled over the noise her eyes feirce and determined.]

[ The fire died down. Someone padded the flames gently. I turned and saw Icepaw, a Breezeclan medicine cat apprentice, applying cobwebs to my wound. I scrunched my face together, confused.

Just then, she yelped, and turned to kill a vole. I realized she had been bitten.

My eyes widened with horror.]

"Icepaw," I said hoarsely, "you risked your life to save me...th..thank you."

[We barely knew each other, but the look in Icepaw's eyes convinced me that all she ever wanted to do was aid another cat, even if that cat was of a different Clan. My heart swelled with warmth. Her courage gave me strength.

I took a deep breath, looking around. Hawkpaw was still darting around, fiercely protecting me. Or Moonkit. Most likely, the both of us.

Gritting my teeth, I stood up. Surprised, I looked down, and found that my shoulder was painless.

No...it was numb.

Something fresh pumped through me. Adrenaline?

Yes, it seemed that I hadn't run out of it. It filled my bones and numbed away the pain.

I flexed my muscles, feeling the power.

I closed my eyes, taking in a deep breath.

Suddenly, they flew open. Brilliantly piercing blue eyes burned brightly through the night. I glared with as much intensity as I could. Several prey hesitated as they approached, seeming cautious.

Letting out a battle cry, I flew into the horde. I slashed through, slaying the vermin.

I ran in a circle, killing quickly. When I had gone in a full circle and returned to the spot I was at, I panted and glanced around.

Piles upon piles of pray sat, bleeding.

I looked around the entire clearing. The horde was waning. The prey was slowly being killed, and where there was once a giant mass of scrambling creatures, now only dozens ran here and there.

My heart swelled. We were going to make it!

I let out another cry and dove into a group of infected who had made their way back to Feathertail's corpse and were eating hungrily.

The delicate white spindles of cobweb trailed in the wind as I ran, floating in the wind.

I killed all that I could, and continued dashing around the clearing, leaping into packs of infected madly. ]

[Ravage watched as the cats fought, feeling content to see those who so bravely spat insults at him fighting for their lives.

He felt satisfied seeing Galespirit crippled, the others desperately trying to protect him, and felt even more satisfied when Feathertail was mauled to death, and Galespirit screamed from the pain.

He saw Thunderpaw go down, and grinned.

Even if they aren't killed, they'll be bitten. And then...then they will spread it, on and on and on...

He watched as Hawkpaw fought. The apprentice was well-taught. Should have crippled him as well... Ravage thought. He frowned.

Remembering his promise to Thunderpaw, Ravage stood. He couldn't see Silverstar, so he might as well settle for the other one.

He walked over to where Hawkpaw was dancing around Galespirit. Galespirit hissed as Ravage approached. Ignoring him, Ravage slammed his paw down over Hawkpaw as the apprentice passed. Ravage's paw, of course, went straight through Hawkpaw unharmfully, but Hawkpaw flinched and almost slammed into the waiting jaws of an infected.

Ravage continued distracting the apprentice. Opening his jaws in front of the cat as he ran, roaring at him, swiping out with his paw. .

Ravage chuckled. It was fun, distracting the young warrior! One misstep, and you die! he thought gleefully.]
