(( Hmm, if it will help you respond.. she isn't trying to be cryptic... she's mainly trying to give him hope in an almost parable-ish way. All that stuff about believing in yourself and starting a new journey and bravery... You know how good spiritual leaders are at giving messages in a roundabout way. She doesn't consider herself to be very witty, but one thing I'm trying to put into her character is her ability to use a lot of similes, metaphors, imagery and stories to get a point across. I wonder if anyone's noticed...?
And the last statement is in fact a truth about myself. From when I was about 12-13 I constantly pulled the Fool card. It was always the first one I pulled. Spooky, huh? Then my boyfriend came and ruined me. I'm not innocent anymoar gonk
....Not in THAT way, you pervs. scream ))

The corner of his mouth twitching, he settled on a timid smile, and what may have been mistaken for humility, was, in fact, another shade of expressing confusion for the Overseer. He didn't know what to make of Lorika, of how she asked questions and tried so hard to make up for his lack of words and answers. He felt more than a twinge of annoyance, wondering if she spoke so much before he lost his memory, because every time she changed the subject so rapidly, it threw him for a loop.
Yet, try as he might, filling the silence, he laughed dryly and it lacked even an ounce of real humor. He was apprehensive of where the conversation may lead, and wanted to put a stop to it. "Do you think then these cards could tell me more about myself? They do not sound very ... ethical, or trustworthy. To think a deck of paper and ink could explain the mysteries of life and the hearts of man as we know it ... is foolish."
He felt rather proud of himself after that bit.

Y'know, I buy all the presents I give out in aquariums.. The High Priestess blushed deeply at the derision in his voice.
"I-I didn't mean... I mean, of course it's silly," she stammered, at length "I just... I wanted you to know that all isn't lost..."
Allowing herself to trail off into silence, she dropped her hand from his.
"As a priestess, I must put my faith in places where there is no cause for it," she said "I hope you will forgive me for that." ...I have the receipts to prove it.

--- "Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" Bapp groaned as he stretched. "Yesterday was some feast. But I wonder what I was doing there to begin with. Oh well, can't complain. Free food." He grinned as he zipped up his tent behind him and went to sit on a rock on the beach.
"Wonder what I can do now? Fishing?" He contemplated ideas as he poked at a crab with his shoe. ---

"I ... uh ..." Knowing he had done some wrong by her reaction, that took another moment of deliberation to recall anything that could help. It was another time his brain stalled, coming up blank and turning up empty handed. It was not easy, and he idly flexed the fingers of the hand she dropped, feeling at a loss. Until at last he was overcome by the sheer frustration of it all. And he had tried so hard to act his role, and by now he was honestly tiring of doing so poorly.
Stomping his bare foot in the dirt, he shook his head and waved his arms uselessly. He again tried to say something, but it only came out in a stammer. Growling angrily, embittered by yet again failing at the simplest things, the Overseer veered off away from Lorika. Oddly though, he was still headed in the direction of the temple.

Y'know, I buy all the presents I give out in aquariums.. Lorika didn't know what to do. Her first reaction was to call out, but... maybe it would be better to let him go? He didn't seem to want her anyway.
She watched him go for a long half a minute, tears prickling her eyes. To her, the Overseer wasn't doing anything wrong. She was. She was getting it all wrong.
Before she quite knew what she was doing, her body was moving forward of its own accord. The Overseer grew closer and closer. Soon enough, she could reach out to touch him.
Flinging open her arms, she lurched forward a few more steps and wrapped them around his waist, momentum carrying her hard into his back. Having no idea what was going to happen, she was happy to hold him there as if he were the only other person still alive on Gaia, tears receding as she pressed her face into his black-clothed back. ...I have the receipts to prove it.

Harata wandered out of the combat area, where she had spent the night, sleeping under the stars. She saw Lorika and the Overseer. She struggled not to laugh, then saw that Lorika was crying. She wanted to turn around, but she was fairly certain she had already been noticed. (((Oh crap. Awkward. Sorry, my first thought. This is what I always manage to do in real life. Walk in at awkward moments. Sorry. Couldn't resist. His cabin is near the Combat zone, ein't it? If not, I could always delete this.))

Feline groggily stuck her head out of her tent. She had heard some sort of commotion going on last night, but she was just too sick to even bother getting up to check and see what was going on. After a good nights rest she was feeling much better and ready to begin a new day. She stepped outside the tent and gingerly stretched out her wings. The day was looking bright, maybe she’d fly over to the temple to see what the fuss was last night. She ran two graceful steps and with a powerful flap of her wings she was in the sky. The wind caressed her face as she rode the air currents that the ocean was creating. The temple was off in the distance. Feline looked curiously at the ground to see who else was up and about. She spotted a man with a curious head of white hair. His movements looked a little agitated so she made sure not to make much noise as she swooped in and landed on a tree behind him. There was something very familiar about him, but she couldn’t quite tell what it was. She kept watching as he walked towards the temple, picking her brain for what it might be. Oh well…Maybe it will come to me in time. She was then startled to see the High Priestess run up and grab the stranger as if she knew him very well. What went on last night!?!?!Feline found herself more confused than ever. She wanted to take a closer look at the stranger, but wasn’t sure if she would be interrupting something very important if she did. (yay....got my feet wet here!!!)

Brooding over his lot in life and watching the path as he approached the glaring white walls of the temple, the Overseer hadn't seen Lorika when she flung herself at him. He cried out of surprise, flailing his arms as a desperate gambit to regain his balance when he was grabbed from behind. Weighted down from fleeing, he stumbled over his own feet and fell hard on his stomach with a grunt.
When the dust settled, he spit and sputtered until he got the sand out of his mouth and glancing over his shoulder to see who had gotten him now. Seeing Lorika, the ground seemed like a safe place to stay. Despite the night's rest, it wasn't an instant fix for not being one of the most graceful of people, still awkward in his own body. Looking around, he also noticed a few other people onlooking, and he felt himself blush.
"I ... wasn't running away?" He sighed.

Harata rushed forward. "Lorika! Are you okay?"She hauled the Priestess to her feet, then offered her hand to the Overseer. "You too. Are you okay?" ((Lulz. Lorika, should I delete my post or you yours? the conflict.)) ((Edit: Yes. Mam.)) ((wait, i mean ma'am. You aren't my mother.))

Be good... Lorika felt them both hit the ground. The coolness of the earth was now present under her arms. However, she didn't let go.
She heard the Overseer speaking. Her stomach fluttered with guilt for a moment. She hadn't thought he was running away... she just didn't want him to leave. She didn't want him to hate her.
Nuzzling into his back, her eyes closed, she mumbled something incomprehensible. The whole world outside was blocked out. It didn't matter if she never got up again.
She just didn't want him to hate her. ...and you will be lonesome.

After seeing Harata run in to the scene Feline decided that it wouldn't be intruding to enter as well. She jumped to the ground and entered the path through the bushes. She looked at the others and then awkwardly approached the stranger. "Sorry if this is a bad time, but I guess what they say about curiosty killing the cat may eventually get me so why not start now." She smiled, half rambling her wings and tail twitching nervously. She was still getting used to ineracting with these people and was socially inept sometimes. "Um so....You look familiar and a little down...and well...." She paused, "Do you need a freind?" She blurted out. Feline then blushed furiously. I'll never figure out how to not make a fool of myself.

Harata looked at the other girl, her hands still offered to the Overseer. "Generally one introduces oneself before asking to be friends. In any case, can you let him stand up first?" She was about to sigh, when she realized that could be construided as mean. "Sorry. I meant, hello. And you are?"

Feline blushed even more....Her little fur covered cheeks felt like they could light a fire. How could she have lost sight of the fact that there were other people there. What was it about this stranger that made her lose sight of that. "SSSorry," She stammered a little, looking around frantically for an exit from this mortifying situation she had gotten herself into yet again. She was getting tired of walking on eggshells since she had found ehrself thrown into this strange land in the middle of a war. "I'm," Feline purred and growled her real name, "Well you can just call me Feline. I'm not sure if you could pronounce my true name." She went on after reciveing odd stares from the bunch. "I guess I better let you stand up stranger." She said to the white haired man on the ground. "Sorry again." She covered her face with her wings to try an ward off further embarassment.
