The crimson-eyed dragon's slits for nasal cavities flared with smoke, though no flames bellowed out. It lowered its head submissively and the gemstone Erron's hand was placed on became a pale blue.

"You have answered correctly. It is 'a secret'.

The next gem is on the other edge of the door frame. The topaz. Press on it when you are ready to answer this riddle.

'I bring light to life and death to shadow.

I dance in the wind, but too much and away I go.

Without me, darkness might just overtake the light.

Such a simple thing am I, that I may be used to fight.'"

The dragon statue's head returned to its ominous gaze, awaiting the next answer.

((Good job Kaiten smile ))

Erron smiled as his first answer was accepted and as the head recited the next riddle his smile slowly grew into a knowing grin, this particular riddle was assigned to him, he remembered, as part of his first advancement in the dojo, he had spent so long thinking the answer through as a young boy the Sensei had to tap him on the head with his bamboo cane to make sure he was still awake

He turned to the rest of the visibly relieved party staring at their not-yet Barbecued Monk and looked around the room. "I don't suppose one of you want to take a crack at it first?"

Selce smiled as she looked at Erron. "One might think you have a sharp wit, maybe you should have learned the arcane arts." She joked at her own stupidity. As the next riddle began she listened carefully. She moved forward and before touching the gem casts two quick spells. As her SHIELD spell settled over her she bent her focus to a BLUR spell. She set her hand down on the gem and looked at the statue.

"That would be fire." She said and quickly closed her eye's ready to be burned to a crisp by her very answer.

The dragon statue's head bent low once again, essentially nodding. The topaz faded to the same pale blue that the ruby had.

"'Fire' is correct.

The amethyst at the base of the door is the final question. Listen well.

'I arrive without being summoned.

I am never late, though often I am hidden by those beneath me.

As darkness sets in, I allow all to see.

I dance and shine, never behind.

I am here to guide you to your heart's desire, or simply admire.'"

The dragon statue patiently resumed its stare and almost smiled.

Erron nods to Selce as she answers the second riddle and listens carefully again to the dragon's now nearly whimsical recitation.

He looks up for a moment and chuckles to himself before moving into the door and pressing the final gem and saying. "Would "Stars" be the word you are looking for? I don't suppose you'd have seen any in a long time having been stuck in this tomb."

He frowns at the thought, he had been enjoying the night time and felt almost sorry that any sort of sentient being would be stuck in eternal darkness.

eek

The dragon said nothing this time as the amethyst turned to the same pale blue. Its crimson eyes grew bright for a moment, then faded to nothingness. A sudden flash slashed straight through the statue as well as the center of the door. The door groaned as the stone began to swing open slowly, dust dispersed everywhere as the portal opened and revealed a staircase leading downwards.

Despite this fact, there was light emanating from the bottom.

The audience room awaits.

All players have gained a massive boost of experience for solving all three riddles instead of taking the longer paths.

((Wow... go riddle whizzes.))
Kal stood with a surprised look at the intellect some of them had. It was staggering. He then shrugged and awaited for them to continue.

"Well, Im glad we took the direct route..." Tjaden exclaimed. He stepped forward once more. He looked to his comrades with a grin.
"Your wisdom and intellect will never cease to amaze me." He said heartily. "I have never seen a challenge more easily and swiftly dealt with."

Stretching his lit weapon before him, he gazed down the stairs into the hall below.
"We can always explore the rest later, but perhaps it would be prudent to stay on course for now and head straight towards what should be our ultimate goal?"

Erron gazed into the now open portal then turned and nodded. "Seems to be the best course of action when we keep in mind that we're still far from our objective, further exploration will have to wait." Erron took a few tentative steps down the stairwell and turned to the rest of the party "Shall we?"

Selce opened her eyes finally as the statue began to speak. As quickly as the first and second riddles had been solved the third had been atleast just as fast. "Were all following you and Tjaden, especially since he has the light." She told Erron and was right behind the two of them. She was ready to blast anything that moved in this place. "This place is just a bit creepy, it gives me goose bumps." She said with a shiver. She suddenly thought of the fact that they hadn't seen any of the Undead they had been warned about.

As Tjaden, being at the head of the column, came to the bottom of the stairs, his foot stepped down into a sinking touch plate on the floor. From either side of the room that they had just entered, numerous darts launched towards the orcish knight.

1: Tjaden is struck by multiple darts, taking moderate damage.
2-4: Tjaden manages to react quickly enough to take only minor damage by bringing his weapon upwards to shield himself.

Results: Tjaden hears the clicking of the trap mechanism and deftly rotates his sword rapidly from side to side and dodges the majority of the darts, he takes minor damage in the process. The trap is spent and may now be passed over without concern.

Despite the sudden burst of activity, the room the group stands in now is a large audience hall, numerous small red flames dot torches within the darkness, revealing just enough of the chamber to douse it all in ominous cast shadow. The commotion from the trap seems to also have alerted nearby creatures... as crimson eyes begin to appear within the darkness, though none advance upon the group... yet.

(Dungeon Advice: The Thief (or Cleric) should always be attempting to detect traps when traversing into new rooms.)

((I was just about to suggest that Kal take point. Also I'm assuming Halflings have the "Dim-light sight" ability. Am I correct?))

Laren looked around the dimly lit room and at the eyes that are peering out at them, "Silence would be advisable in this situation," her words were barely audible as she pointedly drew an arrow and notched it to her bow.

Laren knew that the slightest mistake on their part would spell their doom, thusly she nudged Kal too and motioned towards the trap, maybe there were darts he could use that had gone unspent. That or there could be more traps, which was why the creatures had yet to attack.

Kal prepared a dagger in his left hand, prepared for enemies, as he continued ahead of them, very slow and cautious, taking slow deep breaths to keep himself calm and focused, and to add to his soft sound. His eyes could see in the room decently well, better than any human or Orc, by far. He looked at every item in the room slowly, hoping to find the next trap, rather than be struck with it.

No new traps detected within 50 meters.

The air was stiff with silence as the only audible noise was that of a low growling emanating from the shadows. Each passing second only served to raise the adrenaline and anticipation of the adventurers.

Suddenly, a loud thud was heard on the balcony above the main audience chamber, stirring dust and soot in numerous directions. While the origin of the noise was unknown, the reaction of the creatures hiding in the shadows was obvious.

With a wild shriek, three Shades slithered from the darkness, charging the group!

(One is attacking Kal, one is after Laren and the third is targetting Erron)

1-3 All three shades land their pre-emptive strikes, dealing minor damage to each target and temporarily draining their strength/stamina
4-6 Two shades' attacks are successful, dealing minor damage. (No stat loss)
7-9 One shade's attack is successful, dealing minor damage. (No stat loss)
10 All shades' attacks fail.

Results: The shades' aggressive maneuver takes the adventurers off-guard as Laren, Kal and Erron are struck by otherworldly claws. The trio recovers quickly, however they feel weaker and somewhat sapped of energy.

All the while the loud thud on the balcony above is slowly growing louder and closer...

Tjaden watched as the trio of shades burst forth and struck his companions. With a guttural roar, TJaden made his choice and attacked the one currently harassing the thief who was not made for fighting. He stepped closer to the shade and one step back, putting him next to the thief and preventing him from turning his back on the new room. With his shield raised, he thrust the glowing sword for the central mass of the shadow.

"The staircase! Retreat to the staircase to cover our flanks!" The Orc called out as he made his attempt to damage the creature.
