I know they smell amazing biggrin

Coconut: Correspondences
by Gwydion

Cocos nucifera
Folk Names: ?
Gender: Feminine
Planet: Moon
Element: Water
Deity: ?
Power: Purification, Protection, Chastity

I like coconut as well, and by it's taste I think it can do well for grounding too. So if you need something sweet (but not so heavy) to eat that will help you feel more grounded, I think coconut would be nice for that. It's be great to have for a full moon ritual too, I think. =^_^= The incense of course would carry the same qualities because of it's smell, and it would combine the element of Air as well because... well, it's incense. XD
I end up going to this site pretty often for correspondences I can't find in my books. I googled it as well, and a few other results mostly focus on chastity and protection. I hope that helps. smile

Thank you for giving me a second chance. I am taking a History of world religions course this fall semester and I want to start trying to be more open minded. If I step out of line please tell me and I will try to correct my behavior.

I left in a huff. That was wrong. I never meant to insult any one or say that beliefs were "wrong". I do believe that there is true Wicca as defined by Gardner and other Wiccan authors (Janet and Stewart Farrar, Alex Sander, Vivianne Crowley and the like).

I believe there is a religion that calls it's self Wicca that should have a different name as it does not have the same rites and rituals or lore that Wicca as defined by Gardner has. The religion might be very fulfilling but to me it is not Wicca.

I have joined many mailing lists on Wicca. Two of them agree with my definition. I would recomened both of these mailing lists to seekers and those who are confused. They are:

Amber and Jet which defines Wicca as: the term "Wicca" refers specifically to the lineaged, initiatory mystery religion with roots in the New Forest region of Great Britain, manifested today through various "traditions" all linked with a common ancestry back to the New Forest area. "Wiccans" or "The Wica" are the properly lineaged, properly initiated members of those Traditions.

and:
Begining Wicca which defines Wicca as: Wicca is a lineaged, training required, initiatory mystery tradition, with its inner craft work always being oath bound. Tracing its roots back to Gardner and the New Forest coven. Wicca IS a polytheistic religion with a belief in a God and a Goddess. While our God and Goddess may show us different faces, most of us believe that they are uniquely individual, not a "face of the one" but in fact are individual gods and goddesses.

So again I am sorry about my behavior. I hope I can set things right.

thanks for the help with the coconut :3

and even though someone is pagan, should they read the bible?
someone is pressuring me into reading it, and hoping to convert me.
help?

And about wicca, when people say the neo-wiccans (or something like that) what do they mean by that?

I think its definnattelly ok for a pagan to read the bible, the bible its just another book, its not going to burn you, hehehehe, and just because you read it does not mean you have to convert, its just to see the other side of things, and I never heard of neo wiccans, just neo pagans, wiccans are neo pagans, inthe sense that its not the original form of paganism, just based on it....

The usage of "Neo-Wicca" usually applies to the newer generation of followers, who often do not believe that one needs to be initiated (among many other things that set them somewhat apart from the original teachings). It goes along with the idea of Neo-Paganism being a new way of practicing different beliefs and practices set in place quite a while ago.

I don't think is an incorrect or demeaning title for the "gen-x" of Wiccans, but in the way its used sometimes means to demean and make them look like blithering idiots.

As for reading the bible, I don't see the harm in it. The more you learn and know, the more you can think about and debate, which is good. Personally, I still study the lives of Christian saints (and not just to learn their parallels in Paganism), and occasionally read some passages from the bible. Particularly the Songs portion.

I say read it, figure out your own meanings for it, and see where that gets you.

Do you think that books by Silver RavenWolf are good for people just starting out in the Wiccan/Pagan religion. Books like To Ride A Silver Broomstick?

If you don't listen to critics who say stuff against her, then yes, she can be a good source. I had first started learning by reading books by Scott Cunningham and Ray Buckland.

May also want to try "Spiral Dance" by Star Hawk. D.J. Conway and Edain McCoy are two other authors to read. "True Magick" by Amber K. also comes to mind.

I have lists of books in the library subforum, under "Neri's Tomes", that has a list of books I have. You can look through it to see what books may interest you.

I actually own her book "Solitary Witch" and it is a good read, and reference source, as long as you can sort out the fluffyness blaugh

I have it as well, and wrote a note on the first page for anyone who borrows my copy that if you're going to buy a book by her, go with that one.

Its kinda like...a small taste of most subjects related to wicca/paganism. Theres stuff in that book that I've even yet to read, there are just so many topics. She has like...4 or so pages in the back of just book after book by all the well known authors out there as well.

Haha...I remember when that book was like -the- lusted-after tome by all the Wiccans and witches I knew back in high school. It was a great, because my friend acquired it via another friend and kept it in his briefcase along with several other pagan-related books, as well as all his important papers and a flask full of water. So here's this three piece suit wearing, briefcase carrying, albino guy, sitting on the cafeteria floor, laughing away while all the books are just scattered around him. What a fun day...

Oh yes, Wicca is also very earth-based, as well as fertility. Actually if ya think about it the two kinda go hand in hand
