Kana didn't look away from what she was doing, but her ears tilted towards Tam as he moved again. Then they leaned in Kaze's direction as he spoke. She tried to focus and listen at the same time, but it was really difficult. The wind began dying down as she nodded in response to his comments, and stopped completely when Kazan shouted. But Kana just smiled warmly at the girl and then looked back at the grass. Her head tilted slightly as she stared at it for a moment, wondering what she should do.
She finally decided to begin with remaking that small whirlwind, and then see if she could manage to increase its size after. Her eyes narrowed upon it again, her smile fading as she focused. It was strangely hard to concentrate and smile at the same time, she was finding. But after a moment, the grass began to sway again, then started whipping around as wind surrounded it. Kana bit her lip and began imagining it growing bigger. After several minutes more of her sitting still as a statue, simply staring, the patch of grass that was moving around began to enlarge, finally stopping at about double. Her hands were gripping the ground tightly, claws digging into the dirt. This was really hard...
[Kya... I climbed a pointy fence earlier and now there are little stab marks in my hands. xP]

[then get a hammer and make dents in that little fense as payback twisted ]
"Kana, relax," Kaze called out to her, seeing her claws digging deeper into the grass. "Another key is how relaxed you are, and how much you trust your powers to react with you," he continued, wondering if any of that would work, seeing as it wasn't all that true. He would have scolded Kazan, but thought better of it as he remained sitting, watching his pupil progressing. She may be going slowly, but he didn't expect her to get all of it right away; it was almost impossible to do such. A normal creature underwent training for years before they could get close to just maintaining everything; complete mastery of the element would take even longer than they had.

[Haha, my dad would kill me, since he built the fence. I think I helped him too. >>;; I had to jump over it so I could spray bug spray, but it stabbed my hands and leg. xP]
Kana winced sightly, but nodded her head. Trust my powers? she thought quietly, recalling what she'd told Tam earlier of the first real time she'd used them. The whirlwind started to waver and she quickly shut her eyes. No, that bully deserved it! she thought frantically, though she didn't really believe that. She wouldn't allow herself to. Nobody deserved to be hurt. She bit her lip, refocusing slowly again. She found the wind had died down somewhat, but at least it was mostly still there. She breathed out slowly, trying to calm herself as she released her hold upon the grass. Her fingers slowly uncurled and rested flat, palm down upon the ground now.
She watched the twirling grass steadily now, unblinking and regaining her composure. The grass was lifting slightly, stretching from the ground as the roots tried to hold it in place. Kana growled softly in her throat and then, with a small snap, a circle about one foot in diameter lifted and spun around int he small torrent of wind, leaving a bare patch of dirt in the middle of the meadow. Kana watched it, eyes slightly wide.

[i still say stab the fence xD]
Kaze let out a laugh, seeing the patch of dirt and her e eyes wide. "Are we sure you don't know what you're doing?" he called out to Kana, teasing her slightly. There really wasn't much else he could tell her; he'd have to start physicaly getting her prepared next, but he couldn't very well do that injured. "Kana, you need to try more things before I can think of adding in the next element of distractions," he called out to her in slight worry; he figured that with the doubt she had, distraction were going to be difficult. She'd need complete confidence in herself as well as her powers. He knew everything he was telling her was true, but he was suprised she hadn't found the one thing that'd help her the most; her own method of letting out her powers. Most people, by now, could find a loophole in his teaching methos, to an easier way of controlling their powers. Kana, however, didn't seem to have found that loop hole yet.

[Sorry, I can't think when my dad's standing over me, so I delayed until he left. ><;;]
Kana glanced over at Kaze out of the corner of her eye, face flushing slightly red as he laughed. What was so funny? Was he laughing at her? Though, now that she thought about it, she must've made a pretty odd expression of amazement as the grass had been uprooted. Even now, she felt that her eyes were still a bit widened as she kept most of her attention upon the floating clump of grass. She blinked though, as Kaze mentioned trying more things. And... was that worry in his voice? She frowned and stared harder at the grass.
Tam's words suddenly entered her head, about focusing the air around her to lift herself from the ground, though she was still way too nervous to try that on herself. She was kind of doing it now with the grass though, wasn't she? She recalled how Koichi had brought things to himself through the air without touching them, and decided she could try at least that much. She bit her lip, willing and imagining the floating grass moving towards her. After a moment's delay, it began inching its way towards her. Kana held out her hand towards it, intending to have it move gently towards her. It was drifting very slowly towards her and Kana frowned, shifting impatiently. But as soon as she did this, the grass suddenly darted forward, and she toppled over backwards in an effort to avoid the attacking plants. The wind that was holding it up shoved her backwards, and she remained staring from the flat of her back, looking almost stunned.

[it's okay, don't worry about it! ]
Kaze watched in amusment at her attempts, holding back laughter as she was knocked backwards. He shook his head, sighing slightly before looking back up at her, a smile on his face. "Come now, Kana, don't be afraid of things such as that; try pushing them back, instead, with your power. After all, the best way to practice and learn is to correct your mistakes, right?" he said simply, still smiling at her with his one eyed grin. [i fogot to say the eyepatch came back XD] He continued to watch, his wound so close to being healed; 1/4 away, now, from being fit once again. After that, he could get close to Kana to help her, rather than sitting down at a distance.

Kana didn't move, and just laid there for a while as she listened to Kaze. Her head turned though, and she watched him with her still widened eyes. That really had surprised her, and it hit more firmly than she thought possible for wind. Then again, there were tornados and things that were much, much stronger. That hadn't even been enough to hurt her, luckily. She rolled onto her stomach, then pushed herself up to her knees before reaching out and picking up one of the uprooted pieces of grass that had just attacked her.
She frowned at it, then held it at arms length before herself. "You dummy," she muttered at it. "Float now!" At first nothing happened, but then she winced as a small wind began winding around her hand, but didn't jerk back. She couldn't be afraid if she wanted to learn to use it properly. She slowly uncurled her fingers, and the grass stayed hovering in place even after she'd withdrawn her arm. Then she scooted back several feet and stared at the grass before slowly lifting her hand again, fingers outstretched as if she was ready to grab it, which she was. Again, the grass began inching towards her, and after a moment it slowly increased its speed, though it didn't shoot forward suddenly like last time. Soon, it arrived at her hand, and Kana resisted the urge to jerk away as the wind wound around her hand as she grabbed the grass. She stared at it for a moment and then a smile spread across her face.

Kaze stood up, starting towards her. "You know," he started simply, his hands in his pockets, "I'm suprised you haven't tried to make yourself float yet." He chuckled softly as he came to a stop in front of her, peering down through his one eye. "So, shall we try it now?" he smiled at her, holding out a hand. "Or, perhaps you'd rather just try to continue on with controlling your powers before you attempt to lift yourself from the ground..." he trailed off, knowing very well she didn't trust her powers just yet.

Kana hesitated, watching him approaching and then staring at the hand he offered. He was right though. She was extremely nervous. The very thought had her stomach turning, especially when just feeling the wind around her hand had freaked her out a bit. But, despite this, she still smiled and took his hand. "If I don't try, then I'm never going to get over it, right?" she said softly. "So... So, I think I'm ready to attempt it." She nodded her head, confirming her own words. She was extremely anxious now, and it was taking a lot just to keep herself from shaking, but she wasn't going to give up without even trying.

Kaze smild at her. "You have a lot of determination, Kana. Don't lose any of it," he said wisly. "Now, exactly what I instructed you to do before, I ask you to repeat. Just vision yourself rather than the grass," he said rather simply. "If you fall, I'd suggest trying to call out your powers to save you... you never know when none of us will catch you; it'd be better if you learned how to save yourself, now," he added seriously, to indicate he wasn't joking. It was the first sign of what Koichi ment; aboug how Kaze's training could kill a person. Although, this was just the start, there would be more encounters of his threats. His physical training, however, was what she should really be preparing herself for, and for what she should be worrying about.

Kana continued smiling as she nodded her head, but it faded slightly as he mentioned saving herself. "Ah, ok..." she said quietly, then bowed her head. Her eyes shut now as she tried to focus. In her mind, she pictured herself exactly how she was now, standing completely still, ears flattened, and tail wound around her waist. Then she imagined wind forming around her, seeing the soft rustle in her clothing to indicate it was there. After a moment, it happened for real and not just to the image in her mind. Kana winced again as she felt the wind winding itself around her, but quickly calmed herself. It's just like a regular breeze... she assured herself. Only, more concentrated... Keeping this in mind, she felt the wind inscrease slightly.
Then she recalled Tam's words about focusing it under her feet and concentrated upon doing that, but she left some around the rest of herself as well, in the hopes that it'd help her keep her balance. She was focusing so hard on thoughts and precautions, that she wasn't really paying attention to what was happening to herself, so when she opened her eyes and found that her feet were about half a foot off the ground, she let out a startled cry and abruptly fell back down, landing with a soft thump on her butt. "Gah, dummy!" she shouted at herself in frustration.
[Going to see fireworks now! I'm sorry, I'll be back soon I hope. ><;;]

[kay! I was trying to update something, anyway xD]
Kaze looked down at her, arching an eyebrow at her sudden outburst. He'd crossed his arms over his chest when she'd started to concentrate, and didn't flinch at all when she suddenly lost everything. "Kana!" he barked, thinking she'd recoil. "You have to concentrate. Forget everything else; the people around you, what you had for lunch, whatever. Just concentrate," he continued. He was becoming more serious and strict now that she wanted to accomplish more. Flying, he knew, wasn't an easy task to someone who bearly had any basics down just yet. All the same, though, he knew that with flight she could escape battles easily and accelerate much faster with the help of what was around her.

[Gah, that took forever. My dad went into work after the fireworks to go mess with something. xP]
Kana jumped, ears flattening back as he scolded her. "I-I'm sorry," she stammered, dropping her gaze to the ground. "I'll... try again." She slowly got back to her feet and shut her eyes once more, holding her arms straight and clasped in front of her. Forget everything, she repeated shakily. So far, Kaze had seemed perfectly fine, and she thought maybe Koichi was just worrying too much, but now she saw there might have been some truth in his words. Maybe Kaze wasn't as bad before because he was still healing, or something...
She shook her head suddenly and bit her lip, trying to clear her thoughts. For-forget everything, she told herself again, bowing her head as a frown clouded her face. She pictured what she wanted clearly in her mind, and fairly soon felt the wind tugging at her clothing and hair as it wound around her. She focused it towards her feet, willing most of it to gather there. She suddenly realized her feet had lifted from the ground, but didn't allow herself to freak out this time. Instead she shut her eyes even tighter, and at the same time willed herself to rise higher. She got about two feet off the ground this time before suddenly stopping. Her arms were outstretched to either side, as if keeping her balance, and every so often she'd wobble dangerously.

[::sees a new PM:: if that says you posted, I'm responding, so don't rush the old lady xD]
Kaze watched her, his arms still crossed. "Great, you're getting there. Now, either try to glide across the 'sky' or try walking on air," he said firmly, his eyes gazing up at her. "When you fly, though, I suggest thinking you're lighter than air; make that illusion come true. People who watch you won't really know you're a wind manipulator, so make the assumption that you're weightless and can just float through the air; thinking of just that should be enough to get you up off the ground," he continued on, suggesting more steps on 'flying'. She still hasn't found a loop hole, he thought, narrowing her eyes. If she didn't find one, and soon, this training would get extremely hard; not only on her conscience, but on her body.

[Pfft, I'm older than you, youngin'! xD]
Kana nodded her head, but didn't open her eyes, as she took in his tips. She was still biting her lip, and had even started chewing it gently now. She didn't really know what she was doing, and half expected to fall again at any moment. But... haven't I always dreamed of flying? she thought to herself, attempting a reassurance. And when I saw that winged cat... That was so amazing! And... and that also shows that cats can fly! Then she moved on, switching to another thought. Lighter than air... a cloud? No, a bubble? She frowned again, though a small smile was tugging at the corner of her lips as she imagined herself being a bubble. Well, not actually a bubble... But as light as one, and able to float through the air effortlessly.
She slowly lifted her foot, and took a step forward. She didn't tense like she thought she would, but instead appeared perfectly relaxed, lost in her thoughts. She managed to stay afloat, and after a small pause, moved the other foot forward as well. She repeated this a couple times, pausing slightly between each step but managing to keep from falling. It felt odd, feeling the wind pushing against her bare feet. The problem though, was that she kept her eyes shut the entire time.
