Lore mused on this for a while, "So... about thirty years and a bit more for ever yyear..."

He blinked while seriously thinking about that.

"By the time the baby learns how to walk.. someone else is going to have kids... and they'll be all grown up."

Elnara laughed. "We could always cheat time and visit here often," she teased Lore. "It might not make things completely equal but it might slow down the time difference, at least."

Even if it was just for a few days here and there ...

"Besides," she added, "once he ... or she ... or they are old enough to travel, we'll have to visit Nako and everyone else in the Southland ... Gion and Nadya ... and then of course come back here ..."

Serenity grinned. "I think you might be getting a little ahead of yourself, dear," she giggled at Elnara. "For now, just focus on carrying and delivering this baby safely. Then stop and think about the visiting. You were nearly two before we left the plantation with you."

Not that they'd had much choice in the matter, but still.

Lore chuckled a bit thinking about it, "That is true... we are too ahead of ourselves, though I'm sure we are going to try and visit before two years, otherwise it is going to be a very long time...."

Too long as far as he was concern for all they knew by two years there would probably be great-great-grandchildren.

"Definitely less than two years," Elnara agreed. "After all, coming here is slightly easier than it would have been to go across the desert with a young child."

Suddenly she felt a tightening feeling across her abdomen, and she gasped in surprise. Then a moment later it was gone, and everything felt normal once again.

Serenity's brow furrowed slightly, and though she didn't seem alarmed by Elnara's gasp, she leaned forward and put one hand on her daughter's shoulder.

"I don't think it's going to be another full month," she murmured, "not one of ours, anyways. I think it will be a matter of weeks ..."

She bit her lip thoughtfully. They could find out for sure from Ulani, and it might be a good idea ... this late in the pregnancy, anything could happen, and even if Elnara were to go into labour now, the babies would probably be all right, even if they were early.

"I should get Ulani," she suggested, looking at Lore anxiously. "Just to be sure."

Lore nodded in agreement, he wouldn't be able to tell. Reading was different from seeing and pregnancy tended to be the most unpredictable things in life.

"That would be a good idea."

It was probably nothing... it was too early, but then again he reminded himself things happen.

Serenity nodded and rose. "I'll be back as quickly as I can," she assured the two, "so just stay put."

Not that they would be going anywhere ...

A moment later she was gone.

"I feel fine," Elnara told Lore once her mother was gone, "it just surprised me, that's all ... it didn't hurt a bit."

It was a little hard to describe ...

"Though I have to admit," she added with a sheepish smile, "that I would feel better to know for sure what's going on."

Lore smiled softly at that as he scooted back up so he could be closer to her. Brushing a strand of stray hair out of her face.

"Me too, but I'm sure it's fine."

Having a baby he reasoned tended to rearrange ones body, strange things happened.

Elnara smiled and took Lore's hand in her own.

"But even if it's nothing," she murmured, sitting up carefully and resting her feet on the table, "Mother was right ... it could be any time now, not necessarily another Gaian month ... it would be nice to know, one way or the other."

And if Ulani could tell her anything at all ... she would be happy.

"Agreed," Lore replied.

Now that Elnara are more sitting he could sit beside her comfortably. He knew there was merit in knowing.

"How do you feel?" he asked curious, "You did seem more surprised than hurt."

"I was surprised," Elnara admitted, shifting again so that she could look at Lore comfortably. "I mean ... it didn't really hurt, it was just ... like when you clench your fist, how your muscles in your arm tighten? It was like that. Except that I wasn't doing anything."

She giggled. "It might have been the baby," she added with a smile. "All that kicking and poking around ... who knows what they're hitting."
PostPosted: Tue Oct 14, 2008 6:39 pm

Well at least Lore thought in some ways they were hitting less than what would happen if it was a pregnant human (or other races). Not by much but Elnara didn't have to experience the going to the washroom every few minutes.

"That is true, and the baby is almost always moving as if not having enough room," he chuckled.

Elnara laughed and looked down at her belly.

"Did you hear that, in there?" she giggled, rubbing her stomach gently. "Don't you have enough room? You can't make Mama much bigger or she's going to explode, so just have patience and you'll be out soon enough."

She had felt a bit awkward at first when a few weeks previous she had started to talk to her child (children) as if they were already born, but by now it was perfectly normal for her, and both her mother and Ulani had encouraged her to continue it - and Lore as well.
