中学生?高校生と短大生だ。(I just learned a new word there. xd )

わーい。何を言った分かった。(I haven't really gotten to this yet, so if I got it wrong can someone please explain it?)

Are you trying to say "I understand what you said"? For that, I would say something like (あなたが)言ったことが分かった。 (I understood the thigs you said). I suppose 何を言ったか分かった might also work, but that feels a bit odd.

(あなたの)、だろう?

Either way works. あなたが言ったこと and あなたの言ったこと both mean "the stuff you said" in the same way that 野球が上手な人 and 野球の上手な人 both mean "a person that is good at baseball."

Hi everybody.

I was wondering if anyone has taken the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) or is interested in it? I'm going to try and pass level 3 in two weeks, but I'd like to know how widespread it is.

I haven't done it and don't intend to, but Level 3 shouldn't be that hard. How long you've been doing Japanese? I would think a 6 months would be long enough for 3, assuming you were productive.

Three yeas of a high school class. If you've taken one, you'd know it's hard to be productive. My biggest problem right now is the vocab. I know most of the kanji.

So yeah, I passed level 4 last year (barely, though).

I took Japanese in highschool for awhile too. Yeah, not good. Something happens to them as they are going through Japanese teaching school, because they always come out of it apeshit crazy, the women especially.

I bet you could do it. Well, depends I guess. If your Japanese class was aything like mine, no way you'll be able to. But if you've taken some initiaive and studied on your own aside from the sucky classes, you'll be much better off.

All it's given me, basically, is a familiarity with the sounds of the language. Oh, and hiragana and katakana, because if you use them often enough on worksheets and stuff, you start being able to read and write them almost as fast as English.

Right now I'm just going through the vocab packet and memorizing it.

Wow, that is pretty useless... Any anime freak could gain familiarity with the sounds of the language just by watching a series or two. And Hiragana is eaasy to learn. How long have you spent in classes?

45 (ish) minutes per day, five days a week. I'm in my fourth year.

Wha, really? You should be pretty decent by now then. I've only been learning Japanese for about 3 years, and I pretty much have it down now, speaking-wise. I'm the closest I could be to fluent without living in Japan or constantly talking to Japanese people somehow. I suck at writing and kanji though, because I don't care about it,
