"Probably stuff like talking to the workers and checking stock," Arwen agreed. "I know he has to make sure we're not going to run out of supplies, especially with winter coming again soon. It's always harder to have enough supplies during the winter."
They reached the ranch again, and Arwen started leading Lin towards the barracks. "You said you wanted to see Elros, right?"

"Alright then," Ryu nodded in agreement.
Around the ranch seemed reasonable enough he thought as he went over to open the gate so they could get through. Feng was positively gleeful about this, though she didn't bounce. She learned not to bounce at times like these which was good.

Lin nodded, "Yea, I know Mommy and the others went to see Ulani and Ulrich, so no lessons today, but I could always get in a language lesson before lunch."
Besides it was a good season for lessons, no butterflies distracting her, which was always a plus.

As soon as the gate was open, Adan rode through it, careful not to go too far ahead so that Feng and Ryu's horses wouldn't ge too far ahead of them either.
"Make sure it's closed good and tight,"he grinned at Ryu. "Once Elberon forgot to lock it properly and the horses got out and they went all everywhere and it took a whole day and a night to get them all back in again."

"How many languages are you learning?" Arwen asked curiously as she opened the barracks door, stepping aside to let Lin enter first.

"Eck...." Feng murmured making a funny face.
She went ahead of Ryu and turned for a moment to make sure he was the one closing the gate. Which he did, and checked it over to make sure it was secure.
"That had to be unpleasant," Ryu murmured.

Lin had to think about that when she stepped in, even though it wasn't like she was learning (at least to her) an insane amount of languages.
"Four," she finally replied after some thought.

"I was up on the mountain with Ara-kun when it happened," Adan grinned, "so we got to watch while Elberon and Elrohir rounded them all up. It was kind of funny. Mama says it wasn't Elberon's fault, because it was the day that Shael yelled at him, but stil it's importat to make sure the job is done right even if you're not in a good mood."
He nodded seriously. Ever since he had been little, it had been pounded in his head how important it was to do every single task correctly, to prevent accidents that were potentially fatal.

"Oh, that's not too bad," Arwen smiled brightly, following Lin inside. "Me too! Well ... two ... since I grew up with three, I already know them, but altogether I'm going to know five when I grow up."
She started down the hall. "If I can remember them, that is."

Ryu nodded at that, once the gate was secure, he and Feng moved to mount. It was interesting really, since the two did just about everything at the same time without even realizing it.
"Sounds like you've been told that a lot."

Lin thought about that, "Well.. it would be easier if you could use all of those languages at one point, but the chances of that wouldn't happen a lot."
Not that she minded, after all some of what she was learning was just because everyone else knew them.

Adan shrugged as he watched Feng and Ryu mount their horses.
"Well, sometimes I get grumpy," he admitted, "and then I don't do things the way I'm supposed to. But it's good to do things right, even if I'm grumpy, because otherwise I just have to do it all over again and then I just get even more grumpy ... so I have to always tell myself, better once than twice."

"Mama says I might someday," Arwen smiled in the darkness as she led Lin further into the depths of the barracks. "Especially if I ever help out on the hunts. And there have even been some kids that don't know any elvish at all, not either language, just the dwarf language or the human language, because they were with them for so long ... so Mama says it's good to learn. And I like to learn them, I really do."
Then again, there was yet to be found something that she didn't like to learn. She just plain liked learning.

Ryu smiled at that, that sounded very grown up of Adan in a way. Then again no one liked doing anything twice, so it only made sense.
"That is very true, it would only take longer to do things twice."
Feng looked between both boys, "So can we go?"

"Huh... I never thought about that," Lin mused, "And humans here speak a different language from everyone back home."
It was always the odd thing that struck her, how English was Common Tongue and then there were all sorts of other languages just for humans, but among different humans back home. She had never considered learning the other two languages, but maybe she should consider it....
Maybe once she became teen or something.
