Akiko almost laughed with disbelief. Were they really winning, now? Or was this some trick?

The King's disappearance worried her a little, but for some reason she just couldn't comprehend the seriousness. She was fully convinced that they would defeat the thing and he would be quite all right. Just another spell, probably, and the ugly thing of darkness would be gone for good!

Akiko was grinning and preparing another cast when she heard the voice beside her. She turned to look at Kiante, and started, "Why are you asking me? You know I--" But then she stopped. Something about his eyes frightened her.

They were darting everywhere, but not really looking at anything...just looking through it. And that's when she finally understood what he had asked her.

She totally forgot about her spell and bent to look closer at him, her voice rising in fear. "Kiante, what's the matter?"

~

Mickey gave up. Right there, he gave up. It was sad, really...he was sure any of these kids would've been able to get out of this mess. He had such confidence in them...they were really more than he had hoped for.

But his time had obviously passed. He was of no use to anyone anymore. The old had passed away, and it was time for the new generation to take over. The best he could do was give them a little bit of help.

So as his mind and heart were shrouded in darkness, the King focused on the light. With the very last of his will, his keyblade shone in an effort to finish the demon off. The light grew brighter and brighter, and the mouse only had time to whisper a sympathetic "See you later" to poor Riku, who had taught him so much about the essence of darkness...until the suddenly vanished, leaving behind a simple heart, speeding away towards the garden.

~

Hagosha watched in disbelief. So they were actually defeating him. He couldn't believe it. And why hadn't he stepped out to help earlier?

Yes, angels were all-good, but that didn't mean they always made the right decisions. And here, clearly, Hagosha had failed. He should have helped them instead of waiting, hidden, afraid to provoke Genkoku's increased wrath. And now...they had lost a valuable member to their team.

Soon it wouldn't matter, yes, but the poor humans didn't know that. They would have to go through so much more before they realized how close to the end they were.

Perhaps he could make up for his grievous mistake somehow. And so Hagosha quickly stepped out of hiding, cried out, and engulfed the remains of the demon with a light even more powerful than the King's had been. In doing so, he left the hole, but hopefully he wouldn't need to guard it soon.

((Ah...so nervous about this post! Lol))

Genkoku let out one more excruciatingly loud screech, then he laughed again, as his voice, and his body, faded into nothingness. After he totally disappeard, another heart sped after the King's, though this one was different. It was covered in purple-black darknes that was slowly melting off.

~

"I-I...nothing, I'm fine." Kiante said, clearing his throat a bit, "What's going on?" He asked again, pleadingly.

~

Riku wept even more as he saw Mickey mouth the words "See you later". He stumbled backwards towards Kairi and Sora, before plopping down on his rear beside them. He was just staring at the spot that Mickey had been moments before. "He...he's gone." He said in disbelief.

Akiko straightened up immediately at the screech, ready to defend herself and Kiante if necessary...but seeing what had happened, she simply stared off after the hearts for a while, before turning back to Kiante.

"I think...I think we've just won. But..."

Glancing between the sobbing Riku and the fleeing hearts, Akiko's own heart sank as empathy and uncomprehension conflicted massively inside her. This didn't make any sense...but...

"Um, I think Mickey...um, the King...I think...." she paused, looking for a delicate way to say it. "I think the demon guy got him," was what she settled for.

She didn't want to rush him past absorbing this shocking, sudden information, but she had to make sure. Akiko knelt in front of Kiante and looked straight into his face, holding up two fingers. "Hey," she said commandingly, "how many fingers am I holding up?"

"W-what?"
Sora looked up in time to see the two hearts drift out of sight. Instantly realizing what had happened he let Kairi go and just stood there, dumb stuck.

Kiante did see one thing, a pinprick of light heading off towards the garden, then a slightly smaller and darker light following it. But they were soon out of sight, and it was nothing but blackness again.

He refocused on Akiko in front of him, replying to her question, "...Two." He said quietly. He knew he couldn't see them, but his hearing and feeling were still perfectly fine, maybe even better.

His face was sullen. So many things were happening at once. His eyes weren't working, and if he could have seen them, he would have noticed that his irises had turned a purple-black color. He flexed his hand a bit, partly out of stress, partly to make sure it still worked. He summoned his Keyblade. It still felt the same. And, he could see it too, as a key-shaped mass of blurry light.

"Akiko..." He started, then paused. He cleared his throat, and brought back some of his previous resolve, "We have to seal the Keyhole. Take me there." He stood up, straight and tall.

~

Riku was getting a hold of himself a bit again. He stood up and walked over to Kiante and Akiko, "He's right. We need to seal it before anything else comes and attacks. C'mon Sora, Kairi, everybody." He looked at Kiante's eyes, "Your eyes are full of darkness." He said in a tone of remembrance, "It gets easier...Follow me closely." He walked towards the garden.

((Oops...kinda forgot about the angel unveiling himself...heh heh))

~

Kiante turned towards Riku's voice, but saw something behind him, "Wh-wh-who's that?!" He pointed at a humanoid mass of light with bright wings.

Kairi couldn't move. Too much had happened and she barely comprehend half of it. The king was gone and she had a hidden past. Nothing made much sense. She felt the tears fall, but did nothing to stop them or to help the others. She sat there completely stunned.

Rikku fell to her knees in shock... "We were to slow..." She whispered, regretting that she had spent so much time trying to force Kairi to remember when she should've been helping them fight.

((All right, thanks for the notification. smile ))

Akiko straightened back up immediately, going straight into her awkwardness routine: running her hand through her hair, blowing out her breath, looking away from everyone. "Oh, um...I'm sorry. You're right."

Once again, she hadn't been thinking...she'd thought she was doing the right thing, but no, it was wrong. While everyone else was worrying about the important thing, the keyhole, she was still miles behind, worrying about other things. As usual.

Akiko decided therefore to ignore Riku's troubling verdict and the weirdness. Apparently it was time to drop the subject, even though this seemed to hit her harder than Mickey's...death. Disabilities had always been more real to her than other misfortunes, somehow.

Oh, but she was getting off track again. She looked around, trying to get back into control of the situation. Zolx and Mika--were they all right?

A quick Cure spell would hopefully do the trick, and that's what Akiko did, biting her lip in her usual gesture.

Kya and Kairi--what was wrong with them? Come to think of it, she hadn't really noticed them a lot during the battle...had something happened? Sora seemed fine, however, though a bit shocked...Riku, as well...of course, that did have to suck, what had just happened...

Kiante...something was seriously wrong with him, something she'd been too slow to stop. But she knew nothing, so she'd have to leave these things to people with common sense. Not her.

And Mickey was gone...that still didn't shock her. Why not? Was she that insensitive?

Finally, the thing Kiante seemed to have noticed somehow, and exactly how Akiko couldn't quite understand yet, her brain having gone sluggish from the stress. An angel. A real, unmarked angel, in all his glory.

But somehow it didn't surprise her. She said nothing and faced toward the garden.

"I'm ready whenever you guys are," she muttered timidly, casting a Cure spell on Kairi for good measure, but not feeling bold enough to try and comfort her, whatever was bothering her. She wasn't going to interfere anymore.

How silly was she? One stupid, insignificant mistake that probably didn't even register to everyone else, and she felt totally detached from the scene, like if she said one more thing, it would come out wrong again. Oh, well. Sometimes she preferred to be ignored and just observe.

((I might have rambled a bit...lol))

Hagosha felt overwhelming compassion for them all, and with that came a small bit of guilt. He walked--glided--gently to the boy and lightly touched his shoulder. "Don't worry," he said calmly. "I'm the guardian of this garden. I will make sure you are not followed by any more of the demons. You can go on, seal the keyhole...soon, the great plan will be complete. Everything will be fine."

He sighed a bit, and smiled. "You all have done a wonderful job. I wish you luck. I have the utmost confidence in you."

((I'm guessing the boy was me...so I'll roll with it))

Kiante felt an extremely warm sensation on his shoulder as the angel touched him. It...felt like a fire kind of, but it didn't hurt. It was pleasureable. The sensation moved through his whole body, then disappeared. He turned around and, led by Riku, they continued into the garden.

They didn't have to walk long, before they came to an extremely large tree. It had many branches and leaves, and was peppered with a fruit Kiante had certainly never seen before.

"It's here, right here." Riku said. "My Key won't seal it. Hopefully, your's can. If not, Sora will take care of it."

Kiante's Keyblade started shaking a bit. Then, it raised up, as if of it's own will, and pointed directly at the tree's trunk. A Keyhole appeared in the tree, and a beam shot out from Kiante's Keyblade. He heard a sound as if something locked, and then his Keyblade fell limp again, which pulled him to the ground. He sighed, then stood back up. His legs felt really tired though, possibly another leftover side-effect from the darkness. He went and sat down, leaning his back against the tree-trunk.

((Yiss yiss =D ))

Hagosha nodded as the young human boys walked through, then cast a Cure spell over the entire group, far stronger than anything Akiko could ever hope to accomplish.

He tried to contemplate what he could do to combat the darkness that had come into Kiante. But he was a very inexperienced angel...he could not think of anything. The humans probably would be able to deal with it better.

((And...bye-bye angel dude. Now I'm down to one character! Hallelujah!!!))

Akiko gave a faint, shy smile to the angel. "Thank you," she said politely, before gesturing the stragglers to follow. "Let's go, guys."

She hurried to catch up to Kiante and Riku, and what she saw made her squeal with delight. "You did it! That means it's over!" It just seemed too sudden, but that was what had happened, of course. The keyhole was sealed, the heartless attack was stopped.

Akiko plopped down right where she was. "Now what?" she questioned to the air. Would the people return to the deserted cities? That was doubtful. But then...they couldn't be the only people left on Earth? That was a scary thought. And if it was true, what on earth were they supposed to do then? Just go back to Japan and...do whatever? No more parents...no more school...no more Utada Hikaru...no more anything...

"Oh my gosh," Akiko muttered to herself. "No more video games."

That couldn't be! Everything was supposed to be resolved at the end! They couldn't all just be left hanging like this. What were they supposed to do? She couldn't just leave her world behind...

((I'll wait a bit for more people to post and then we move into the last bit of the RP, though I have no idea how long that bit will be. :3 ))

"Kairi..." Kya said calmly. "I am sorry for trying to force you to remember... If you can't remember I can't force it." Kya said apologetically, looking at the ground.

"it's not your fault." She whispered, finding her voice. "You were trying to do what you thought best. I only wish I could remember more than the garden."

"Wake me up...later." Kiante said softly, and he promptly fell asleep, his eyes staying open, unblinking. After all, they had been through a lot, and there hadn't been much time for rest. It was the biggest few days he'd ever had. But he wondered, what next?

~

Riku nodded to Kiante, smirking afterwards realizing that Kiante couldn't see it. He turned to the others and said, "I think we should stay on this world for awhile, just in case anything else comes up. Besides...I think the king will come back here. Till then...I dunno."

Akiko whirled around in aimless circles. She was exhausted, but she didn't want to rest. She was too hyped up on questions and adrenaline yet to sit still.

The tree drew her attention. Akiko walked slowly, ambling up to it and gazing curiously for a few moments at one fruit.

After some deliberation, her impulses overcame her. She drew the fruit off the tree and, after only another second's hesitation, bit into it.

It tasted bland, but at the same time was probably the most satisfying thing Akiko had ever tasted. She hurriedly devoured the rest of it and then turned to the others.

"Hey, who's hungry? This stuff is really good!" she called cheerily, attempting to bring life once again to the depressing setting.
