Ravenfang looked at all the cats surrounding her and tried to calm down. "Sunpaw...fell in the river...while catching fish...couldn't follow, the current was too strong." She felt horrible about what happened, but she knew that if she had followed the apprentice, she would have been carried away too.

One song, gloryRainfur's eyes widened as he overheard the news of Sunpaw's accident. He felt sorry for the mentor-less apprentice. She probably wandered off because she had nothing else to do. He rose, padding over to Ravenfang and Dampfoot. "We've got to follow the river. Perhaps she hit land..." he mewed, hoping for the best. one song, before I go...

Crystaleye nodded. "StarClan forbid she didn't hit land" She mewed, walking over to Ravenfang. The she-cat obviously looked distressed. "Ravenfang, it's okay. It's not like you could've followed her, obviously..."
Owleye tilted her head, hearing the conversation. Sunpaw fell in the river? Hope she's okay...

Dampfoot growled; a low, barely audible sound that rumbled in her throat. What was it with RiverClan and apprentices at the moment? Her ears were pinned back against her head, her brow fixed into a discontented scowl as Rainfur approached. Ideally, they needed Torrentstar around. She heaved a few deep breaths, trying desperately to grapple with a plausible solution. "I'm going into ThunderClan territory, alone, to find Sunpaw." She announced importantly. "It'd be best not to send an entire patrol, and I think ThunderClan would be less likely to challenge a cat of a higher rank. In the meantime, I hereby leave Rainfur in charge." She nodded briefly to the tom at hand. "In case anything happens, track me down. Do not, under any circumstances, cause a ruckass. That's the last thing we need. With a bit of luck, Sunpaw will have washed up on the shore and ThunderClan won't have found her yet." Dampfoot sighed heavily, her shoulders suddenly sagging in apparent defeat. She couldn't recall speaking so much in a long time. Neither could she remember ever having been forced to make such important decisions. But still, she was confident she was doing the right thing.. "Any questions?" Dampfoot meowed stiffly, masking the fret in her voice.

One song, gloryRainfur nodded, accepting his temporary position. "None, Dampfoot. And thank you." he mewed, and bowed his head in respect. "I honestly don't think Icestar would put up a fight over an injured apprentice. From what I remember, she's quite reasonable." he informed. His tail swishing back and forth with growing suspense and the fur on his pelt tingling with every growing minute. one song, before I go...

Ravenfang shook her head negative. "Good luck Dampfoot." She stood up and shook.

Moonpaw came out from behind the apprentices' den... She had been taking a rather long nap. She let out a long yawn, arching her back. She wondered if anything was going on.

Silvertail was just behind Dampfoot as she listened to Ravenfang's story unfold. Her eyes widened when Dampfoot declared what she would do. Thank goodness we hadn't left the camp yet. She thought anxously. They would've left the camp almost entirely unguarded. She looked around at the huddled cats. "What if you need help Dampfoot?" She understood Dampfoot's reasoning but trying to drag a half-grown apprentice out of a cold river on her own would be near impossible. "Some cat should go with you.
Mooneye was listening intently trying to think of what she could do to help, or at least not be helpless.... just another burden. "Ican help." she thought out loud. "Dampfoot I can help. I will be able to hear Sunpaw alot faster and feel her vibrations." and then she lifted her head. "And a patrol wouldn't dare attack a helpless blind elder." She wanted to snicker at the words, she was far from helpless. Her blindness enhanced her abilities...if only she could convince some cats of that. She listened for Dampfoot's answer.

Dampfoot laughed gruffly at Mooneye's keen offer. "That's true," She almost purred, "Are you sure you could cope, though? I mean, when was the last time you travelled such a distance?" She turned an intense silver gaze on the elder: The idea of having Mooneye for company pleased Dampfoot, but she remained dubious all the same. "If you think you can handle it, then sure. You're more than welcome to come. I'm pretty sure the tide will have carried Sunpaw to ThunderClan, she can't keep floating for ever. Besides, you're probably more capable th--" As soon as the words made to leave her mouth, Dampfoot heard the insensitivity in her own voice and almost recoiled in disgust. She bit her tongue slightly harder than she had intended and released a small sigh. She felt the heat rising beneath her fur and make a tactical change of subject. "So, that's settled then. Me and Mooneye will be going to ThunderClan to find Sunpaw." She wasn't breaking the warrior code, as far as she was aware, and every cat that belonged to a clan knew those rules like the backs of their own paws. Besides, Mooneye was volunteering -- surely that meant she believed she was capable. Dampfoot could feel her fur prickling as she rose to make a quick getaway. "Let's go, Mooneye. The less time we waste the better."

((Did you mean to say Moonpaw instead of Mooneye?))
Ravenfang's head jerked up as she heard Dampfoot say those insenitive things. I really hope that she doesn't mean me, she couldn't have...right?

One song, gloryRainfur nodded and turned to face the clearing. Dampfoot and Mooneye shouldn't have any problems with ThunderClan. If it were ShadowClan, that may be different. But ThunderClan was never one to fight without reason. He spotted Silvertail and padded to stand beside her. "So much for that patrol." he mewed, his voice suprisingly shaky. one song, before I go...

Crystaleye walked over to Silvertail and Rainfur. "Come on, we should still go on the patrol! We can't wait only because our second apprentice is missing. Our Clan still needs it's borders marked, and we still need prey."
Owleye gave a yawn, glancing around. She went over to the fresh-kill pile, eating a stale fish half-heartedly.

One song, gloryRainfur shook his head. "I don't think Dampfoot would want us to leave. She would want us all here and safe while she finds out what is wrong. Who knows, this could start some tension..." he mewed, thinking if ThunderClan would really start a battle over this. one song, before I go...

Crystaleye sighed. "Fine. But the prey pile is low, and we really need a hunting patrol soon." She stared out at the territory for a moment, hoping they'd come back soon, then slowly ate a fish.
