Raine held the statue close as he approached, moving very slowly and silently. The cool cobbled stones of the street were easy enough to move through. He would have to make it in through the open window though.

Pi poked his head out from Raine's poked. He whispered, which was so small ans quiet Raine could barely hear. "I'm proud of you." Raine looked down at the small animal surprised by the oddity of the statement. He smiled to himself. Pi was proud. "That was the right thing to do." Raine didn't want to chance saying anything so he just nodded down to the Ajolte. He knew in his heart that he was doing the right thing. The Tekkenseisai thought of how Heisei had told him once of a story when he was really little. It was about a man who was banished from his kingdom for killing a deer in a forest. But he needed the deer and everybody else did too, but they were the kings deer. He left and became a great archer and when he returned he was an outlaw that stole from all the horrible and rich people in the world, and he gave back to the people who deserved it.

Raine couldn't help wonder why, if god was supposed to give good things to goof people. All the money ended up with bad people and the good people had to steal it back. Which would in turn kind of make the good people bad. He wondered why not just give the good people good stuff in the first place. Or why not just have everone have the same amount. Well maybe not the same amount but more equal than it obviously was. Raine had reached the door of the building now and he set his back to the wall as he edged forward.

Slowly Raine turned his head peeking around white eyelashes to see through the open window. There was a small room with a desk and many papers flung around. Half eaten food still lay on the table and a man was limp on the chair next to the desk. The room was illuminated in a dim little lamp on the table. The boy breathed slowly. It would be more than tough getting into the room without waking the guy up. The fact that he was asleep made the job even more easy though.

The boy edged forward, holding the statue under on of his arms. With his free right hand he grabbed the window sill and hoisted himself up so that he could prop his knee on the sill. He slowly eased his other leg into the room before him. Lightly laying his foot on the floor board, Raine felt himself sink a tiny bit and prayed it would creak under him. Wood floors were the absolute worst for sneaking. Luckily as he placed the majority of his weight on the ground it didn't give. Raine looked up to the ceiling and bit his lips quickly mouthing 'thank you'. His fingers slid across the wood of the sill as he leaned back pulling his other leg into the room.

The small boy turned quickly and gazed over at the man sleeping. he watched him closely for a moment. Taking deep soft breaths, with his mouth slightly a gape. The breathing filled the room with the only sound. After he felt he was safe Raine, looked over to the desk. He would need to grab a pen from the desk and figure out where Kossori had been put.

Still moving very slowly Raine stepped forward. He was aware of every movement, every breathe, every pump of his racing heart. He tried to sty calm and felt as if the sound of his own heart would wake the man next to him. He stayed as far away as possible and very close to the wall. The room didn't have a door but simply opened up into a long dark hallway. Raine guess it was full of prison cells. He was so close, and yet there were two floors. Without a small map or some kind of record, Raine wouldn't be able to find Kossori without waking every single prisoner to see who they were. Luckily, on the table just in front of him there seemed to be a register of prisoners.

Taking another deep breath with an open mouth Raine gained the courage to venture further. He slid closer to the desk with ease, and very cautiously lifted his hand into the light of the table, all the time with his eyes glued to the man's eyes. For some reason Raine felt as if he might be just pretending to be asleep and that at any moment he would hop up and grab him. His hand reached a pen that was laying on the table, which was another one of his goals. As he would need it later to unlock the cell. Raine quickly tucked it in his pocket and leaned down over the register. At the very bottom of the page and in very messy handwriting,

Mabushi Kossori 11:30

was written. Raine frowned deeply he need to know which cell he was in. The boy let his gaze fall around the other papers on the desk. They were in such disaray that he would have to glaze over many upside down. His upsidown reading was not that great and the small ninja woried himself for a few minutes. After a few minutes Raine gave up. He would have to try and search each individual cell. He hung his head while silently turning toward the dark hallway. Raising his head he gazed down into the blackness it was honestly frightening. Even after fighting countless horrible enemies and endangering his life many times, he still couldn't held the chill that ran down his back when staring into the abyss of darkness. He gulped and inched forward.

Right before he stepped into the hall he glanced up at a small clipboard hung on the wall of the hall. A pen dangling off of it in the breeze from the open window. He squinted to read it in the dark and smiled with delight. It was a small mapped area of the cells with blank ink lines in each of them with names filling them. He ran his gaze over each on strenuously in the dark until he came to Kossori. Raine bit his lip, he was on the second floor. None-the-less he had come this far.

Raine hugged the statue close to his chest as he moved through the hallway. The light dissipating behind his back. He headed for the stairs before him. They were at the end of the hall of course. They couldn't have been TOO close. Raine rolled his eyes in the dark, unfortunately they led him to the cells that lined the wall on his left. He gazed in and saw dark figures laying on cots. It was sad to think of the criminals of Oto. He had definitely dealt with a few of them himself in the back streets. Yet he had always denied the fact that the great Otogakure had bad people in it. It was nearly impossible for him to imagine one of the figures he gazed at in the dark living down the street from him, from his mom. He sighed silently, still moving forward. That was the reason he had to become a shinobi. To protect the good people from the bad.

Now halfway down the hall and in complete darkness, Raine only had the statue to comfort him. He could see the faint outline of the stairs and at their crest another faint light. This both worried and comforted him. It could either mean light to held him pick the lock, or another guard, possibly awake. If this was so he would have to use kawarimi to hide in plain sight. Raine smiled at the thought he just had. It made him realize how much of a ninja he still was.

Raine had reached the stairs. His toes pressed firmly against the first step. With another deep breath to push away any hesitation, he leaned forward once again holding the statue in his left arm while extending his right. his fingers clasped against further steps so that he was almost crawling up the steep stairs. with each step he took he first moved his fingers up and then followed far behind with the each foot. He moved closer and closer in a long and strenuous process. Yet patience was the essence of complete and utter silence.

His soon reached the second to last step and lay on the stairs, his head tilted back to avoid being seen. Quickly he pulled his hand over his mowhawk and very steadily raised his eyes up to gaze into the room. It was completely empty and much smaller. The source of light coming from another small lamp at the end of the hall hanging from the wall. Raine referred back to the map, Kossori was the first cell on his left, there were only two other cells, but Raine knew that there was one other prisoner in the far cell. Hopefully asleep. He would still have to be very quiet. Raine pulled himself over the stair, into a kneeling position, and slip over to the cell. He pulled the pen form his pocket uncapped it and bit off the plastic end with much effort. As soon as he had done that, Raine gently placed the statue beside him on the floor. He pulled the inner ink filled plastic with the metal tip from the outer plastic shell of the pen and carefully placed the pen in the key whole. He had only ever broken into one other lock and that had been during his heist of the harmonica on the night of the treaty with Nakamura.

Raine slowly placed the pen tip in the kay hole, he pushed it as far as it would go and felt the inner mechanics of the lock. He was not sure exactly what need to be done he just knew that when he heard a click it meant he had done something right. However, it was extremely hard to get this click and hopefully not to noisy. He wobbled the pen around in the whole for a few moments, with tiny fumbling noises. He hopped it wouldn't be enough to disturb anyone.

Raine held his ear close to the lock as he continue to work on it. Soon enough he felt and heard a tiny click. The little noise seemed much bigger in the presence of utter silence.

Suddenly he heard a much more frightening noise, his heart stopped. "Whose there?" A whisper sprung through the silence. Raine let his ear pull away from the lock and he looked around, back toward the stairs. It hadn't come from there. No... it had come from the cell. "I can see you there. What are you doing here?" The whisper was gruff and angry. Raine leaned in, he couldn't chance waking the other prisoner.

"My name is Tekkenseisai Raine." He blinked into the darkness unable to see anyone. A figure shifted in the dark. "I.... I..." He hesitated. After having done everything, face to face with the man he was trying to return the statue to he was speechless. "Well, the truth is. I brought you the amethyst goddess statue." instantly the man burst forward, reaching through and grabbing the small boy he didn't resist.

"Don't you play with me!" he still whispered even in rage. His face was revealed. With dark lines of expression and a worn face. He seemed like a wealthy man, and yet his clothes were decrepit and his eyes were anger and tired. They stared into the small boys baby blues, who glanced back almost without emotion. Kossori's eyes changed. "You're just a child. What are you playing at?"

Raine pulled himself from the man's tight grasp. "I'm not lying." He picked the statue from the floor. And it was revealed in the light in all of it's glory. The man's eyes welled with tears.

"You foolish child. It is but glass." He slumped back into the cell and hung his head.

"Mr. Kossori, I know it's not glass. I personally handed Terikata the glass fake. He took it back and didn't even know." Raine's voice filled with emotion. As the man looked up, quivering.

"What do you mean? You stole this from that b*****d?" He reached out as far as he could and stroked the stone. His eyes pouring with tears now, as his mouth fell a gape. He leaned down. With a warm smile. "Oh praise all mighty god. He has given my family honor." Raine smiled to himself. The man looked up to him in awe. "Who are you! How!?"

Raine's eyes lit up with horror. "Be quiet would ya!" he whispered. Picking the pen back up.

"I told you I'm Tekkenseisai Riane." He now looked at the key hole he was dissembling. "I'm a gennin rank shinobi. Part of team Four. We were personally assigned to Mr.Terikata to guard the statue, because Lord-Kasuke received a threat that someone was going to steal it." Raine still spoke in a whisper every once and a while taking a pause to listen closely to the lock.

"So that's the letter Terikata was talking about." Kossori said, he was sitting against the cell, wiht his fingers reaching through to touch the statue.

"Yeah. Exactly. Except you weren't the real thief." Rained heard another click and smiled he was getting good at this. "In fact it was Giso the guard."

"What Giso?!"

"Yeah, except he wasn't really Giso. He was the Phantom thief." Raine emphasized the name, he didn't often get the chance to tell stories. "This guy was crazy. You see the one you grabbed was actually the real one, but Terikata thought it was the glass one so the Thief disguise as Giso was going to walk right out. But My buddy Xen figured it all out and then the thief exploded out of Giso and everyone who drank wine passed out from poison." Raine was really getting into this now. "Obviously we three were the only ones theft so we followed him. Played some mind game, then faught him. We won it back but he escaped and let us have it. So we returned with it. But then I decided that it was wrong to give it back to Terikata, after seeing you at the party. And well, I ran back grabbed the glass one handed it right to his face and walked out with the real one in my hands. Then I came here, snuck in through the window, and am currently breaking the lock on your cell to personally hand you the statue." Raine took a breath and looked at Kossori. He was completely silent.

"What's the matter?" Raine looked worried, but Kossori turned to him, revealing streams of tears down his face.

"You will never understand the extent of my gratitude." Raine didn't know what to say. "Up until this moment I was sure that all the hope in the world had been sucked away by the system of government and the horrid greed of man. I know now, that every horrible thing that has ever happened to me has been a lead up to this moment. A moment that proves beyond all reasoning, that there is goodness and innocence still left in the world. Above all the badness one moment shines above the rest." He smiled. Raine was a bit unprepared for this statement. He simply stared at the man.

"Well, uh. You're welcome." Raine said with a smile. Kossori broke out into an uncontrollable smile.

The awkwardness grew and Raine turned back to the lock, fumbling harshly. For the life of him, he couldn't get a click out.

So how did Terikata get you statue anyway?" Raine asked as he licked his lips in concentration as he worked on the lock.

"Uh well. It was a family heirloom. Created and treasured by my ancestors." He looked at the statue once more as if he didn't believe it was still there. "Being head of my household, I was in it's protection.... However, when Terikata moved in he monopolized the business of importation of cotton in the rice country's major ports. Which, unfortunately had been my growing venture and only form of capital." Raine felt a little lost, but was almost keeping up. A small click broke a pause that Kossori took. "After that I went bankrupt and he tried to force me into his companies. Yet I wouldn't give in. Once he threated to take my family home, and send my wife and children to the street I had to sell him the statue. It was far under priced. He cheated me completely. I hate that horrible man." He was silent for a moment. Raine bit his lip.

"Well, now you have you statue back. What will you do?"

"Well, obviously I will have to leave Otogakure, or change businesses. I know that know. I was foolish." he paused, "My pride has seen my wife and children go hungry and will never ever witness that again."

Raine smiled, there was nothing better than learning from past mistakes.

"I'll have to sell the statue though. It's a sad fact, but the past is worthless to me now. Not when the present is so threatening. Besides" Kossori flicked the amethyst statue. "It's just a piece of stone."

A click broke into the conversation, and the latch of the lock broke open. Raine gasped. "I did it." He pulled the lock off and very slowly opened the door. Grabbing the statue he stood silently to meet Kossori. Who greeted the small boy with a hug.

"You have given me a second chance, Raine." He smiled, taking the statue from Raine's extended hands. "I have only known one man to give such chances back. If he can be called a man at all."

"Oh who?" Raine thought of Hatchi.

"Well, God of course." Raine flinched, was he really being compared to...god? He shook it off.

"Well. Mr.Kossori sleep well tonight." Raine bowed and headed for the window of the second floor. He was gone more quickly then he came and Kossori stood in the hallway looking on.

"And for every night to come. Thank you."

Enter from housing

Raine quickly jumped over the roof tops. He had rolled all of his ryo up and was heading for somewhere he had never been before but filled him with joy. The weapon shop. He would be entering for the first time ever. Buying his first shuriken, his first exploding tags. The thought tickled him to the bone and he hopped even faster, his arms flung behind him as he flew through the black morning sky.

Exit to weapon shop.

the trio moved along the city streets. The two ANBU leisurely walking as it seemed while seriously looking around the city streets for any danger."Shisui..." Shif stated staring at the missionary from the corner of his eye as the man excitedly turned and looked this way and that at the buildings, the street, the doors, the windows, pretty much anything in the town."Can we kill him." Shif said his eye twitching at the mans obnoxious behavior."No...i dont think the Kage would like the news that two of his best ANBU murdered thier charge just because the man is...horribly...annoying."Shisui said turning to the missionary rather quickly and almost bumping into the man.The ANBU's kitsune mask smiled while its eyes blazed ironicly as the ANBU shouted "IF YOU WOULD PLEEAASSEE STOP DOING THAT!". The fire in the mans eyes couldve started a wild fire. The missionary instantly turned serious as the ANBU seemed to calm down."I can sight see later i suppose." The missionary stated with a little bit extra in a language the two ANBU didnt recognize."Lets move forward" Shif stated grabbing Shisuis forearm just a little. Shisui answered the other ANBU's touch with a shrug and turned beginning the march towards the mountain monustary yet again.

The trio reached the end of the village. The easy part had now come to an end.....now was the fun part. defending the missionary in the mountains."Now....where to holy man?" The ANBU duo said in synch."To the mountains of course." The missionary stated sighing as it seemed it was quite obvious."Well then....to the mountains." Shisui stated walking apart from the trio to take the lead followed by the missionary and taking the rear Shif.

"Ha you see!" Raine said down to Pi. "That wasn't that hard." He held the box in his hand while stuffing the exploding tags in his back pocket. He was heading through the waking the streets. Now the village was waking up and the shops were setting up in the streets.

As Raine walked he whistled to himself, it was still to early to do anything and yet he needed something to do. Soon the boy found himself wandering in the market place. The main street was still broken, but a few people had built steps in it and it almost seemed like a cool architectural improvement.

"What are we doing now?" Pi Pulled himself up out of Raine's pocket.

"Hmmm.... I guess I could train some more. I've got this thing planned that I wanted to start working on so that I can beat Xen hands down, but I can't do that until I've trained some more. It's a special technique that my old sensai used." He trashed the empty box and headed over to one of the shops to buy some rock candy. Every since his last mission he had been throwing cash out like nothing else.

He snapped off a little piece for pi who took it graciously and nibbled on it for quite a while.

"Yeah that sounds good."

(Exit to Team Four training grounds. )
