cool man. Thanks a lot. That wouldn't be a bad idea considering some people aren't really good with the whole d20 stat system

Hello, I'm Nani and am a new member. I have a question, what's a modifier and how is it used?

I would say 8
TO Naniwasaga:
a modifier is something we use to show the modification of our characters strength. It means in that area you are so strong you have a addition to your power. They are used mostly in battle or in a certain skill.
Ex: If someone was trying to sneak up on me, I would roll a d20 plus my awareness mod to see if i heard them coming

question Oh my gosh, I am totally lost...hahahaha. So how does that work when I make my profile and distribute the 40 extra points I have in the beginning? And exactly, how do we battle in the first place?

First Question: The modifiers in this battle system represent the bonus you get from you putting points into your stats. This bonus is calculated by doing the stat divided by two then minus one (STAT / 2 - 5 = MOD). An example of this would be if you had an Intelligence stat of 16. This stat would be divided by 2 then 5 would be taken away, making the modifier '+3'.
These modifiers are added onto things, like a dodge roll or a accuracy roll, in order to affect combat according to your character's weakness/strengths.
To The Second Question:
On The 'Battle System As A Whole': I suggest reading the battle system thread over again. *Nods* That always helps, methinks.
The battle system, in my opinion, can be sumed up into four things. 1). Attack rolls, 2). Damage, 3). Dodge Rolls, and 4). Modifiers.
1). Attack rolls are simple. It's one dice (20 sided) plus your 'accuracy rating'. Lets say you have a level ten character and your accuracy for your first attack is '10'. That's 1d20 + 10. If that accuracy value is larger than your opponent's dodge value, then the attack hits.
2). Damage. Damage is the damage done to your opponent's HP. For shikai the damage is 1-20 + Str Mod (if you wield the blade with one hand without dual wielding). Pretend you have a Strength mod of 2. That's 3-23. If you attack hits your character does between 3 and 23 points of pain onto your opponent's HP. You decide the number of damage by doing the 'random number between' feature while posting.
3). The dodge roll is like an attack roll. However, it is a 1d20 + Dodge Bonus. When your opponent attacks you, you roll a 20 sided dice and add your dodge bonus to it. If the dodge bonus is higher than the attack rating, then the attack is dodged. However, if the attack rating is higher than the dodge value: the attack hits.
4). Modifiers are the root of the system. The modifier numbers from your stats increase, or decrease, a lot of a character's abilities... And Kenki-chan develops modifiers very clearly in the battle system thread. ( (Stat / 2) - 5 = mod ).
Notice, however, that the battle system has a whole bunch of small 'intricate' details. I highly suggest rereading the battle system thread again, and then testing out the system with a friend. *Nods* The practice can be considered XP/Training, too, so it's a plus-plus solution to your problem.
Also, if your still stuck, read the small Ugu vs NPC battle I did in my training thread. It should be near the middle of the fifth page. It's simple. Attack roll, damage, then the opponent does a dodge roll. The opponent then does an attack roll, damage, then I do a dodge roll. Simple.
On Starting A Battle: The person who attacks first is the person who does their attack first. Simple. Someone who is the attacker will do their 1d20 roll, and if the 1d20 roll is higher than the victim's dodge roll, the attacker will make a post that denotes the amount of damage that will be minused from the victim's HP.
So, if you're attacking some with a zanpakutou you're doing a melee attack. Melee accuracy is done by doing a Accuracy Roll with your strength modifier added to it. So that's a 1d20 roll with an added 'base accuracy' along with an added strength mod. Let's say that your character has a Str Mod of +3, and is a level 4 character.
That's a roll of 1d20 +3+4, which is 1d20 +7. Let's say that the roll is '5'. That's then 5+7 = 12. That is the attack roll.
If that attack roll is higher than your opponents 1d20 + Dodge roll, then the attack lands on your opponent. The follow post would be the damage done to your opponent, most probably using the 'random number between # and #' feature.
So, basically, the batlle goes like this:
Post Number: Player/Character~ 'Move', or roll (Roll Value) [Damage Done?] 1: Player 1~ Melee Accuracy Roll (12) 2: Player 2~ Dodge Roll (14) [No Damage To Player 2] 3: Player 2~ Melee Accuracy Roll (16) 4: Player 1~ Dodge Roll (12) [Damage To Player 1] 5: Player 2~ Damage To Minus From Player 1's HP. 6: Player 1~ Melee Accuracy Roll (5) 7: Player 2~ Dodge Roll (14) [No Damage To Player 2]
... And so on, and so forth. However, there are two types of rolls for accuracy that can be changed by being away from your opponent (Agility/Range Accuracy), or in close contact with your opponent (Strength/Melee Accuracy). They're both the same, except for the fact that the 1d20 + Base Accuracy is then added to by either Strength (if melee) or Agility (if ranged). Simple.
You don't have to post your HP in every post. I highly suggest doing so, though, to keep track of the damage done to your character. 3nodding Never give up the fight for justice! 3nodding

itachiruleskonoha are there any non-literate fight places for fighting other shinigami to fight each other using ** for actions? We're mostly mid-leveled literate roleplayers. We don't do huge 5 page posts and nor do we do any one liners. What seems to be generally accepted in this guild would be 3-4 lines. Doing 3-4 lines isn't hard to do if you add description to your posts. Aradiah-sama has quite a few tips in her post in the Roleplay Rules Thread.
So join us, heart itachi . BWahahhaaaAHAHAha..
 Asteriks are not allowed. Period. Kenkaru, in the Rule Thread made that clear. heart It's even mentioned three times in the whole rule thread.
