Shoujo Phoenix First... -kicks the s**t out of Gaia for deleting my whole post- stressed So today was my first time donating. They stuck me, my blood flowed out, and it came out really fast too. whee I was worried that I might not have been able to donate because of my heart surgery way back when. I might consider signing up to be a bone marrow doner because they need more ethnic (especially mixed) doners. So I could be nice. That and I have an incredible pain tolerance... Lucky. My mother was always a really good blood donor. She used to take me along when she went to donate, and I always hoped I could be a donor too. crying But my vessels freakin' suck. I wanted to be a marrow donor, too, but I've already got arthritis and so they won't consider me. sweatdrop Afterward, though, several friends shared some marrow donation stories, and apparently it's not at all pleasant.

I mean, the pain of donating bone marrow vs the pain of leukemia... sweatdrop Yeah, I'd still want to do it if I could. sweatdrop It's only a temporary unpleasantness that could go to help someone a great deal. Besides, it'd give me something else to gripe about. I seem to make a hobby of complaining about my various aches and pains, one more would just keep me occupied. sweatdrop *such an old person at heart*

If one put some pressure on it, it'd stop bleeding. It could still probably bleed pretty heavily for a short while, then a slow ooze for some hours, especially if one's blood pressure is fairly high (I imagine excitement from a chainsaw-fight could do that to a person) or if the clot formation is physically disrupted. Could likely cause enough blood loss to make one rather woozy, but there definitely shouldn't be any danger of death from that alone.
