Nyl grinned, leaning against the doorframe, shivering a bit in the chilly night.
"That's enough, for now. You need to work on not drawing constant wind to yourself, though. Eventually it'll spiral out of your control rather literally."

The cyclone starts to die down, first slowing and then losing substance all together. Once it's gone, Iri gives Nyl a sheepish expression. "Yes, I remember that advice from our last lesson. I imagine I'll figure out how to adjust that, but it'll take a while. Until then, I'll just have to monitor how much time I spend using that barrier."

"Still, it's good progress." Nyl stepped out of the doorway, letting the door close behind her. All evidence of her earlier exhaustion seemed to have disappeared.
"So. Ready to learn something new?"

Iri nods once more, her expression now bright and open. "Always ready!"

"Good." Nyl walked over until she stood beside her, turning around to face the closed door. She snapped her fingers.
All around the doorframe, but enough distance away so as not to damage the dojo, pinpoint explosions went off with small 'pop' sounds. One got a bit too close to the wood, leaving a sizable, splintered dent in its wake.

Iri blinks and her head tilts in a curious manner as she listens to the numerous pops. Then there's that one that dents the wood. That makes her eyes widen. And it suggests in her mind some kind of little explosion, or at least a lot of highly concentrated force. The mechanics behind it escape her. Obviously confused, Iri looks back to Nyl.
"Erm...?"

Nyl smiled, holding out her hand, palm up. In it she formed the same sort of pinpoint as those she had placed around the door, coloring it with chakra for the sake of visibility.
"It's a condensed sphere of air, so highly pressurized that the correctly applied force of release makes it explode. That's why you needed to be able to control such large amounts of air at once, and steadily - go wrong with a kaze explosive and much worse things can happen."

"Eep..." Iri looks at the tiny sphere with a raised brow. "Okay, I get it now. I've pretty much got to pressurize a sphere of air as much as I dare try? And what do you mean by 'correctly applied force of release'? That sounds deceptively simple to my ears."

"Well, incorrect force either creates a backlash, or just lets the air disperse normally, rendering the expended energy a waste." Nyl let the sphere go, proving her point as it disappeared. "And the key is to pressurize as much as you can using as little chakra as possible. That way, multiple kaze bombs can be made, and since they're invisible normally, strategically used."

Iri nods her head as Nyl speaks, taking in every bit of information. Actually forming the little bomb will take practice, but doesn't seem like it will be too much of a problem. Detonation is what will be tricky.
"Okay... So what's the difference between correct and incorrect pressure? And what kind of backlash are you talking about? I would figure that incorrect pressure would just let the air disperse as usual. How would the other kind of incorrect force get me, especially if I'm using the technique from a distance?"

"Maintaining the placement of the bombs is something a little separate from being able to blast one. For the first several, they'll all be within a few inches of you. Bursting them the wrong way turns them into more of a bullet than a blast, and you end up basically shooting at yourself."

The word bullet reminds Iri of an earlier incident. She resists the urge to touch a finger to her forehead, remembering the little rock that almost pegged her right in the noggin. Instead, she pockets her hands and lowers her gaze to the ground in thought. The idea is intriguing. It's certainly a challenge, and Iri has a hard time passing up a challenge. But it also sounds like a screw-up will hurt like hell. And Iri's quite prone to screwing things up on her first try.
"Okie dokie then." She looks back up at Nyl and smiles quite pleasantly. "I'm thinkin' this is gonna be painful, but when do you want me to start practicing with the little bombs? And more importantly, are there any more specifics you want to throw in?"

"First just practice the condensing. Make as tightly packed a ball of air as you can, as small as you can, using as little chakra as possible. We'll work on the blast part once you've got that down, because without it you'll just get dissipated air."

"Gotcha! So, if there's nothing else to be said or done, I guess I'll go get started on condensing?" Iri unfurls her wings, already prepared to take off and be a busy little birdie all over again.

Nyl smiled. She liked Iri's enthusiasm. It felt wonderful to be teaching someone something again.
