[ GeeKer ] Train them young. I was sitting infront of a kid, who kept kicking my seat, and talking loudly. I would have taken his a** out, told him, 'sorry, we're not finishing the movie, and you now have to sit and wait until it is over. You're brother and Grandmother will be out later.' Then sit in the lobby until it was over. One of my Theater professors, Jim, he had an aunt who used to punish him by sitting him on the edge of a chair, both feet on the ground and do NOT rest your back, for an amount of time. He said that he hated her for doing that, but he respects her for it, as well. I think I'll do that for my kids, as well. Basically, I'm gonna try every punishment in the book...Though, with my luck, I'll probably have the world's best behaved kids. xD -Wyrn: Nah, they won't hate you. They'll either respect you or fear you. My little brother talked back to my dad one time, and my dad said, "Go ahead. Do it one more time. I ******** dare you. Go ahead." And my brother accepted his challenge and bam; Dad grabbed him by the throat and slammed him against the wall. D8 But hey, he never talked back again. rolleyes

I don't see how that's productive in the normal sense. Aggression feeds and nurtures aggression I think. No disrespect to your family wink

Well, my dad warned him. If he hadn't warned him and just slammed him against the wall, then that'd be wrong. Though I wouldn't go that hardcore on my kid. sweatdrop
Anyway, that whole "aggression feeds and nurtures aggression" theory, I think that depends on the person. Because I'm not that hardcore like my dad. Sure, sometimes I want to hit my little sister so bad, she'd be in the hospital for a month, but I know better. biggrin But my little brother could be different; he could grow up to be some serial killer, because his daddy hit him and he couldn't take it like a man. Then there's some people who refuse to hit others. Who knows? lol

Pain is a good motivator. You know the consequences for your actions and if you still continue knowing the punishment, it is no ones fault but your own when you face the jury.

Yeah, my mom gives me and my sister "the look." She used to give us this look when we were younger and she'd tell us, "Stop or I'll hit you." If we didn't stop, she'd hit us with her sandal. Now that we're older, if me and my sister are fighting all my mom has to do is give us "the look" and we stop. stressed Getting hit by a sandal is not cool. emo

Well conditioned, Jojo! And I suppose aggression doesn't necessarily breed further aggression, but some sorta psychological problems, at least.

I think Dun's onto something. No, seriously. My dad handled all the corporal punishment when my sister and I were kids...and now, at our ages, he's the only one of our parents we really respect, and (on my part) sometimes fear. :/ Doesn't help that he was in the Navy for, like, forever.
YAY DEEP-SEATED PERSONAL BAGGAGE.

I hate today's majority of little kids. Running around, Screaming, I almost kicked a kid down once Because he was running straight for my adoptive niece who was barley starting to walk and was wobbling around. He wasn't looking and I was planning to Kick his sorry little butt down before he made Marley get hurt and/or cry. (He looked up Just in time before I had to Bring the pain) And I'd be damned if I let a sorry little BRAT hurt any of my kids. Only The father..If there'd be one,Nyu,Mom or myself can Smack my kids. And only For Proper reasons. >:c I don't believe in the corner.

So true, I always feel like I'm going to kick kids when they run infront of me. Its like people don't teach their kids any manners anymore. Jeez, I get so worried about it too. I don't want to be that guy who kick some kid into a street or down stairs. sweatdrop

I constantly say that. Out loud. To people's faces. Because I swear they don't teach them manners. Back in my day, You learned to say please/thank you/Excuse me or you got your a** whooped and no one cared. Now it's all "I'll call child protective services" But I got a loop..I can spank three times, No more and no bruising but I can do it >:3. I'm not liked too much around the mall (outside stores, I know a few store owners who like me o w o ) Because I will say "Chh, I'd smack my kid if they acted like that. So disrespectful."

'Cool kids' and wannabe 'gangstas' are the worst. Going around the mall on scooters with hats on backwards, hoodies, swearing and calling my friend (wearing fluro colours) an emo. I mean, it's Australia for goodness sake, you just look like a freaking idiot. They couldn't have been more than 10-12 too...
Mum used to punish me and my sister when we were naughty, but sadly all it did was make my sister hate mum. She still does emo I'm sure we learnt our lesson though.

I think JoJo's experience cursed me.
My partner and I went to see The Losers yesterday to a theater surrounded by teenagers without any manners at all.
They were talking through out the whole movie. I think we were the only ones enjoying ourselves since we were clearly the only ones laughing in the theater. Not to mention they must all have ADD since they kept moving about the theater instead of sitting down and enjoying the show.
We where lucky we got a space nice and early and pretty much made it clear we did not want anyone near us.
