Geist had burst out of the cavern roof and into the upper world where mortals walked. The roof of the chamber had been a cave, and now the scenery was nothing but forests and tall grass, except for the gaping hole in the ground which Geist made upon his dramatic exit.
With nothing but silence that filled the area, not even a cricket chirp, Ulo hovered in the air and slowly floated toward Quenthal. Maggots and other writhing vermin dropped from its flesh eaten skull with faint thuds onto the earth. The creature's skeletal jaws gaped and from within its throat came a chilling sound, a shrill tri-tonal cry. With a hiss, the skull jolted forward at an alarming rate, jaws agape, ready to give a maggot infested bite.
Suddenly nasty squeaks, chirping, and frictiony wet slopping sounds filled the silence of the area. From the back drop of flames that Geist left, four other mounds of soil erupted from the earth, and many a creature burst from the piles of filth. Different assortments of snakes, scorpions, beetles, centipedes, maggots, and worms by the hundreds came spewing out of the mounds of soil.
Then finally, four bone white ram skulls emerged from the creeping vermin, slowly rising from the ground supported by their serpent bodies. Now there were five, five forms of Ulo. They all surrounded Quenthal in a circle then started to rotate around her, as if binding her to the ground in one spot.
Night crawlers and centipedes slithered out of their empty eye sockets, and from their decaying jaws spun a glistening silk, glowing and sparkling the color of twilight. As the skulls circled around her, they slowly started wrapping her up in a silk cocoon. A hoarse, raspy voice burst from all of the skulls at once. " AT LAST! FLESH AT LAST! " they shrieked, little spots of white light the size of pin heads lighting within the voids of their empty eye sockets "..GIVE US YOUR FLESH... GIVE US YOUR FLESH YOUR FLESH!!!"
In the background voices chanted binding words that only strengthened the psychic hold they were binding around their victim. They sounded like deep bell tones as they droned.
Invotrux, Veriem, Solocrepx, Matrizem Novois, Focruept, Rubricross, Roundikae
suffer..suffer..suffer... suspended in dusk.. suffer..suffer...suffer..
As they chanted, Quenthal levitated just above the ground, suspended by the dusk webs. Hellish laughter echoed as the silken webs spun all the way up to her waist. Flashes of light whirled around her head, sending paralyzing jolts of energy throughout her body originating from the webs the creatures spun. The effect would cause her to hallucinate. Searing pain came from the webs, as their effect would quickly cause her flesh to rot off her bones if she didn't escape.
Ulo was only one of the two fiends Geist had left Quenthal to deal with as punishment for her act. The other was Zin, who hadn't yet made its appearance. Both of them were the two summons he called forth earlier for protection.
The god, Zin, was one of protection. If Quenthal could somehow persuade Zin to help her out of this situation, she would be saved.
One of Ulo's skulls paused in front of Quenthal's face. A large black scorpion slithered out of its eye socket and onto one of its horns before it swayed past her, eying her as if her body was a feast. An impish chuckle came from a near by bolder as the skull moved out of her line of vision, revealing a curious looking creature who was grinning over at her with yellow teeth.
The creature was half man, half goat, a smoking pipe clenched in between his teeth. The faun crossed his goat-like legs, examining his long, dirt covered, yellowish nails as a puff of smoke escaped his chapped lips.
Quenthal needed to be wary of Zin, for he was also a god of tricks, riddles, and illusion. One of the faun's long ears twitched, angling in her direction, waiting for her sweet screams of agonizing pain from Ulo's dusk webs.

Zin snorted with laughter, his long ears flattening backward as his long hairy fingers grasped his bulging gut. He almost dropped his pipe from releasing that booming belly laugh, but clenched it tight, a bit of drool seeping out amongst his yellowish buck teeth. He really was ugly, but had a wicked sense of humor.
He hopped to his feet standing straight and walked over to Quen with an amused look in his narrowed yellow eyes. His wrinkled forehead wrinkled further when his shaggy brows furrowed with thought, a circular puff of foul smelling smoke expelling from the mouth of his filthy smoking pipe.
" To death with you then, you feisty smut!" chattered the faun in a sing-song voice with a wide rotting grin. " To death! To death! To death!" mocked Zin, dancing around, his little tail flickering about, flies buzzing around his butt.
" Lazy lazy lazy!" he went on with his annoying chanting, " Ah to die because one's lazy." he snorted, and hopped, turning his butt to her and shaking it, then slapping his furry a** cheek.
Ulo was wasting no time at all, and let a pleasurable hiss out of its five jaws at the submission of its victim. " Sleep eternal where the night crawlers await, I shall lay you to rest, my sweet morsel, I thank you for sacrificing your fleshh...." the god hissed affectionately to its dinner.
Suddenly a white blinding light caused Ulo and Zin to shriek as a phoenix with feathers glowing as moonlight flitted to the scene and perched on a low hanging tree branch, spreading her wings.
With a malicious hiss, Ulo spoke the summon's name. " THIARK!!!"
As soon as Ulo spoke, the phoenix quirked her head in his direction and Ulo recoiled from his victim, leaving Quenthal suspended in mid air, in the cocoon of dusk. With a furious scream, Ulo dug its heads into the earth and slithered away, escaping.
Zin's ears perked and he turned to the bird. " Thiark, what are you doing here, can't you see I have a job to do? You see it do you not? See, see you seee?!" he snorted, dancing from one leg to another and pointing at Quenthal.
" Silence.. your master has summoned me to watch this battle and make sure that this drow does not die. She is useful to the prince. Killing her is not what he wanted." a serene voice sang from her beak before she leapt into the air and landed on Quenthal, then proceeded to tear at the threads of silk with her beak to try and release her.
" BOOO BOOOOO! NO FUN! ALL IS RUINED!" shouted the faun, spitting at the ground with a sour face. He farted in response, telling Thiark exactly what he thought of the situation with that vigorous and foul smelling exclamation. " Harrrrrrumph!" he growled and stomped his foot before walking off into the bushes, leaving Thiark to tend to Quen.

With a snap of her fingers the image of herself disappeared. Though she remained hidden from view. Her interest was on Thiark, her crimson eyes that burned like coals from the Demonweb themselves, stared at the pheonix curiously.
She awaited to see what would happen next. The vipers at her side had become silent at their mistresses command. However, their ever watchful gaze, eyed their surroundings, their tongues flickering to taste the air.((DAMN YOU GHOST! *mutters* Making me post=_=))

Inafay strode in, bewildered, covering her mouth and nose at the infernal reek, holding up two fingers with her left hand to summon forth an ethereal censer. It pulsed as it swung languidly, emanating a constant Gust of Wind effect, making the air slightly less sickly. Kneeling at Quenthal's side, she helped the strange little extraplanar bird at breaking through the webs, her eyes widening slightly as she saw the adamantine encasing her fingers bubble and hiss. "Still catching the eye of of all the prominent denizens of the Hells, I see," she coughed, draping her sister's arm around her neck, bracing a foot against the wall. ((*grins, bowing her head, her eyes remaining fixed on Ghost.* Pleasure's all mine. ))

She awaited to see what would happen next. The vipers at her side had become silent at their mistresses command. However, their ever watchful gaze, eyed their surroundings, their tongues flickering to taste the air.((DAMN YOU GHOST! *mutters* Making me post=_=)) A dark chuckle slithered from over Quenthal's shoulder and suddenly Ulo sank its maggot covered teeth into her shoulder. When Ulo had slithered back into the darkness to escape from Thiark, he found his victim, hiding also in darkness. With that discovery, his jaws became drenched in saliva, he wanted to taste her...badly.
" FLESH!!!!" the god screamed, taking a chunk right out of her.
Thiark's eyes widened, she was confused as she stared at the empty webs between her talons, then when she heard Ulo's shriek her head snapped up to stare into the shadows where she witnessed the god take a chunk right out of Quenthal's unexpecting shoulder.
" NO!!" cried the phoenix in shock, and leapt into action, valiantly spreading her wings and shining light into the shadows, expelling all dark. Ulo hissed, viciously and wreathed in pain on the ground before bursting back into the ground once more.
Also when Quenthal's eyes were focussed on the ground, she finally saw that she was standing in a steaming pile of fresh s**t. The smell was almost toxic.
Zin chuckled from a near by bush.
"OH FOR ******** SAKE!" shrieked Thiark as she perched on Quen's shoulder, tending to the gaping wound that Ulo left her as a reminder never to hide from a dark element...within the shadows.
The phoenix breathed an ice cold gust of air onto the wound and then it slowly started to heal. She then jumped off of Quenthal and flew to the sky, her job was finished. Quenthal was fine.
That only left Zin behind as he hid in the bush next to the woman who was stepping in his s**t. His eyes darted back and forth guiltily. 'Hobblescops... did she notice me?' he thought as he hid, snickering.
