Flickering Hope I'm not entirely sure if the driver's license is the same where you are but yes, it is a driver's license. What it is here, after you pass the written test you get your G1 and you have exactly five years to get your full G. After you get your G1 you have to wait a year to take another test, or eight months if you took drivers ed. The second test is a road test. Once you pass that you get your G2. After you get your G2 you have to wait another year to take another test. After you pass that test, which is another road test, you get your G. You don't have to take any more tests after that. It's a relief to have it done because my license was going to expire in August. If your license expires before you get your G then you have to start over at G1.
I don't think there should be any rush to get your license. I waited nearly a year after I was allowed to take the test. To tell you the truth, I hate driving. I would love it if I could get through life without driving. The only reason I took the test for my G1 when I did was because I was in the area that day and was told that I should try to get my license. Well I guess that I'm not sure what it's like out there, over here you can drive at the age of 16, and I'm 18, the only one of my friends not driving (oops) and for us you take the permit test once after either studying or doing drivers ed and you can drive with someone 18 or older in the car. If you're 18 you don't need the permit and skip that and go directly to getting a driver's license, in which you do the road test stuff. Tough for me because I've got to learn everything about driving and somehow get some practice in and then show up and do it without those months of practice everyone else gets with their permits.
