Don't get me started on that s**t.

Part of my job's interviewing giga-conservatives who rant for hours straight about how even a policy that strengthens background checks for gun licenses and nothing more is the government's attempt to steal their freedom and put them in torture chambers.

@Nazareth: Actually, the only reason for that is that their bodies tend to limber up more. If you go unconscious before crashing, you tend to sustain less serious injuries too, statistically speaking.

Doesn't change the fact someone who's really ******** stoned can usually handle a car fine while I've watched with horror what a drunk can do with a van. lol

Since I don't smoke pot, I actually don't care if it's legalized or not. But if it stays illegal, there is absolutely zero reason to keep some of the draconian penalties we have for possession. Make it a fine, misdemeanor, whatever. Pretty much the same as legalizing and taxing it. Doesn't really matter.

The problem is putting people in jail, lots of them, for possession. That costs a lot of money to everyone and it's just a total waste of resources.

Or I dunno, maybe it's more like that now, but last I heard our justice system and the prison-industrial complex still really sucks.

Our justice system is a** and we waste looooooots of state funds locking up then releasing potheads.

That's actually a very good point.

Lord Haelstrom

That's not what you said... you said that more people will obey the regulations post legalization then pre,

More alcohol laws are broken more often then then when it was prohibited. When all you have to face is a DUI and a night in the drunk-tank (which is relatively minor in comparison to serving hard time) people are more inclined to test their limits.

Same thing will happen with weed. People who wouldn't do it on the simple premise of it being illegal, will no longer have that to stop them. They will become "social smokers" and the product will be subliminally marketed.

You would react more intelligently, quicker, and with more need to save your own life if you were sober.

Now take that situation and switch home robbery for flash flood, lightning strike, tornado, house fire.

Mind you alcohol has all the same problems and attacks your liver. Still just because something that is equally bad is legal does not reasonably mean that the other thing should be legal as well thats how you get from pistols to ak 47s in home gun safes.

Honestly dude, if it becomes legal it does, I would still disagree with it, I also disagree with anything over 1 drink an hour.

Drinking and pot tend to make you the equivalent of stupid while your under the influence. This is bad, and should be prevented, I already wish it was legal to punish people purely for being stupid.

Anything you imbibe/smoke/eat affects brain chemistry. Alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, etc. Acid is no more or less potent in doing so, and it's less likely to do so permanently in comparison to alcohol or the like.

Out of all of these, acid is still the safest in terms of long/short term side effects and in terms of lethality. The highest drug in terms of long/short term effects, dependency, and raw lethality is heroin, for comparison. Everything else - weed, alcohol, barbiturates, caffeine, anabolic steroids - all fall somewhere between the two.

Although to be fair, out of all the hallucinogens you can take, DMT is probably the safest; it already occurs in the human brain and has no real side-effects beyond its hallucinogenic nature.

My statement stands. Reason being right now pre-legalization, the only regulations are quantity and "do you even have it? [if y] Jail." They're extremely binary so people don't respect them and skirt them all the time. They're forced to break the law to even acquire the stuff, so it's easy to segway from one crime to another.

Meanwhile you legalize and regulate it, people will follow said regulations if they mean convenience.

And... nnnnohohohoh, when it was prohibited, the entire nation at large ******** annihilated the law. Mob was big in power then and had channels to import alcohol into the country in damn near every city you can imagine, people were dousing themselves in the s**t out of protest.

Dude I wouldnt want to be in the car with someone who was high on the free way, or even on a fairly regular street in my city.

Judging the speed and angle of things coming at you takes nearly all of your concentration, on one hand smoking means your reactions are less violent, on the other it means they are slower where seconds means the difference between life and death ...

DMT is my favorite side affect of sleep loss.

But MDMA and acid which are loosely related by category directly affect your brain and are in practice very bad for you.

There are people that never come back from their LSD trips. That is a non lethal permanent side affect. In fact studies seem to indicate that the more frequently you dose the more likely this is to happen.

MDMA is worse.

The Thunder Tyrant

I hold myself to a high standard in nearly everything I do, and I hold others to it too. Are my expectations too high for most people? Probably, but at least I'm fair in that I expect everybody to be capable of making the right decisions and to get their s**t together.

Alright, I have been drove by stoners, I have been drove by raving alcoholics.

Stoners tend to drive entirely fine. They -are- relaxed, so yes, if someone were to swerve at them, they'd be in trouble. But... hardly less or more so compared to a sober driver.

Bad alcoholics or someone really smashed? That's the LAST ******** thing you're worried about with them driving. It becomes a game of "Okay, seatbelt's off, I can jump out of the car into that bush in 5..."

Because it stops being a game of seconds, when you watch your driver start driving onto the sidewalk at 65 MPH on a 30.

I know people who smoked pot, then drove the wrong way down a one-way street and got hit by a bus.

Take that how you will.

I am pretty sure the impaired judgement of either is equally dangerous. But my saying so isnt going to convince you.

Dear Princess Molestia

Sigil Warden

I think the overall reason many people don't like you (or Sigil for that matter) is not that you hold yourself to a high regard, it's not even how out spoken you are...

it has more to do with the approach....

or tone or vibe... in other words.

Just two cents you can take or leave.
