I've been making nice to the members of F in our area; they seem pleasant enough. Maybe Arc you can contact them about an alliance/etc? Seeing as they are fairly large, and are allies with both ring and drunks, it couldn't hurt. A member of their alliance is going to contact thier alliance leader and suggest we ally as well. But he requested that we leave the 15-wheater near me for him. Quote: I just dropped a note to my leader. And being formally allied with *Ring* and having NAPs with the other two Ring branches is fairly normal, not necessarily ominous. It is the same with F. So the fact that we are in the same area and already share the same relationship with the ring alliances should be a good reason to formally ally, as I am sure their co-leader will agree.

Tagra Nar Oi, I'm gonna be gone for about four days or so, so if I get attacked and don't respond, that's why. sweatdrop I'll start some production on things in my village before I leave, but I figured I should tell you guys. Do you need a sitter? Just to keep your warehouse/etc from overflowing?

Silkara I figured a 15-wheater which no one has actually claimed or expressed their intention to claim is a small price for helping avert a war with the Drunks. Because I doubt we would survive sweatdrop Is that the 15-wheat that I had asked for, or a different one? I have two settlers now.... redface

If you hadn't settled it I would have within a day or two. TLEE or whoever is just so damn slow, it's been nearly two weeks, and this is the first we heard. Keep your village, if they don't respond favorably to diplomacy, screw them. Abandoning a village is a ridiculous demand, IMO. Even worse than the ridiculous 20k tribute someone demanded of Evil. I'm this close to just abandoning infrastructure for a week and pumping out 1000 phalanx so I can adequately protect people in my area.

I doubt it's as severe as that. He said something about a squad, which was a subdivision of their alliance, being in on it, not the whole Drunks themselves. Drunks policy is to not get involved in anything you can't handle yourself, so I think if we create enough of a thorn in their side, I highly doubt the whole alliance will turn to bear on us. Worse case scenario, if Spartan Chief still wants me, I'll make an Alliance to HME a necessary prerequisite to my joining, and head on. sad I really don't want to leave, but I'd prefer that solution to you giving up copious quantities of invested time, resources, etc.

Drunks policy is to not get involved in anything you can't handle yourself, so I think if we create enough of a thorn in their side, I highly doubt the whole alliance will turn to bear on us. If they feel that way, what's to stop me from taking pre-emptive measures and making myself a thorn in their side immediately? Frankly, I hate waiting for them to make the first move. We're all worried about war, we're getting defensive. We're not going to be a thorn in their side if we wait this thing out. I can increase my army size FAST, and even though I'm waiting on my third settler now (not too long, to be honest) I can support nearly 300 additional men for the war effort. If anyone wants to start a fight, Poops and I are more than capable of taking any three villages out of the fight. Just tell me when to sharpen my teeth, and I'll shoot a message over to my buddy. We have three military-camp style villages in a small area. I'm sure we can do our fair share, even with a long walk. evil

Arcadian Wow. Lots of bad news in such little time. On top of all this, RING and -RING- rescinded their Alliances with us, and instead offered NAPs. Ellie, if we get an NAP, you'll probably have to give up your oases to him. I really don't know what we're going to do about Drunks. They're not responding to me, and if they're not bluffing, they really could wipe us out. I'll try to call their bluff by asking whether or not it's worth wasting time destroying a rapidly growing alliance for one single 15 wheater. ... so I'd have to give up the Oasis that Baly helped me claim BEFORE Belrias founded the intervening village? Would you believe that that REALLY burns my biscuits?

Why do we let people threaten us like that? Everyone has a 'bigger friend', and everyone can make threats. But as much as I'd like to avoid war, I'm not one to say that lowering our pants is the way to avoid it. We're only going to be facing more demands, until we are bigger, and stronger, than anyone around us. I don't care how powerful they are, I refuse to submit to the demands of another in this. We're an alliance, right? Not a sissy little gang of people who are afraid to lose what we've worked for, right?
The way I see it, we're probably at least as close as any alliance out there. We're not weak, even though we're not the strongest. Arc has led with a sure hand, but I don't remember one instance when he did anything other than TALK to avoid a war. We aren't here to be pushed around. We have interests, as they do, and we need to defend them.
If they're going to threaten us, why do we shiver in fear? Frankly, I am very tempted to send an assault force instead of a message to the next person who threatens our alliance. I hate being percieved as weak. And who knows? Maybe they'll change their tone when they realize we aren't about to fall apart at the first sign of trouble?
