Misty smiled. "Predictable. Staryu, blast it with your Water Gun!"

Staryu leaned forward, its top point bending down. The red gem in its center core changed to a vibrant blue, for the duration of the attack, and it shimmered as a strong spray of blue water gushed out of Staryu's top point. Regardless, Shining's attack hit, knocking the aquatic Pokemon off balance and sending it tumbling into the water below.

The couches in the Center were always comfortable, and with good reasoning. Would you want to be a weary trainer, tired from a day full of Pokemon battles and sit down on a stiff run down seat? Of course not. Mike thought, relaxing on one of those same couches. Portabello had wandered into the showers, feverishly rubbing his face with water, the soap discarded on the floor after it was discovered not to be very tasty.

As he waited for his friend, the boy picked up Napalm's Pokeball, thinking carefully. "I just don't have the time to train you at the moment." He said, a little saddened. After all, he loved the little Magby, but he was right. Minimizing the ball, Mike walked over to the PC he had used just recently, entering his information once more. He went through the familiar procedure of swapping Napalm for Titanium. A smile crept up on his face as he saw the little Steelix icon bee bop on the screen, completing the transfer. A Pokeball materialized on the tray, and Mike snatched it up immediately, letting out a giggle. "Titanium's back Portabello!" He shouted, walking to the couch.

Ky smiled though. It looked like even though the Rocket's Houndour was enraged, he was just about to fall. "Sting, finish him off with a Fury Attack!" Ky ordered.

Sting, who had been watching from a distance, came buzzing over quickly. After hearing the order, he dove with amazing speed towards the Houndour. As a last second effort, another Ember was released, only to be dodged by the agile Beedrill. Sting came down and pummeled the Houndour without mercy. His forearms jabbed the Houndour all over his body, each blow as fierce as the next. With a small puff of harmless fire, the Houndour fell. A returning ray consumed the Pokemon while the Rocket grunted.

Sting now stared at the final opponent, awaiting Ky's command.

Mag smacked himself lightly in the face. The beginning of this fight wasn't going very well. Misty was certainly the most cunning trainer he had battled thus far. But in the end he knew he and his team would pull it off... somehow.
Luckily Shining was fast enough to swerve and avoid the water gun for the most part and went onto a different platform to catch her breath. No way she was going to go into the water now that the Staryu was at full health again and her being still worn out from the fighting they had endured. "Wait for it to come out and then try to hit it with something. Try not to get into the water at this point." Mag said to her knowing it would all be over for her and he needed her to last most of this fight or else.

The train rolled onward with Linalee still in her memories...

"Hello there Mrs. Alice!" Linalee said with a nod bow. "I was looking for Mag Mr. Pete here says that he left on a Pokemon journey a while ago." Linalee told the elderly lady. "Yes that is true... But why come all the way here from Two Island? It is a long way for just a trivial trip where you could easily call." The kind woman said.

"I also wanted to show Mag my pokemon! I know he had Sunfire for forever but as soon as I moved my parents got me this little girl" she said releasing Cagomarg the Slugma onto the tile floor. Cagomarg looked about for a moment, she didn't know anyone but Linalee and upon seeing her trainer she flowed over near her feet waiting to be picked up. Linalee obliged and continued the conversation. "What a cute Slugma!" Alice exclaimed as she walked over to examine and pet her. "I know!" Linalee giggled along.

"As we said Mag is not here... But I did hear from a fellow breeder that a trainer with a slightly strange colored Eevee came by recently and he lives over near Cerulean city. He said the boy was going that way and it sounds like it was Mag to me." Pete stated. "If you want to find him I'd go there and see." An notice light went off on the desk. Pete went over and then checked it. "If you lovely ladies will excuse me for a moment!" he said rushing out the back door.

"I'm going to thrash you!!" he roared, nearly crushing the ball in his hand. "You were always cocky at the base! Always!" A vein in Dramon's forehead began to pulse to a bursting point. "When I beat you, I'll take you back to Giovanni to have you locked away!"

"That is...if," Kilik warned, "I've gotten stronger since leaving Team Rocket, Dramon. You should know that." The boy tossed the Pokeball upwards and caught it before it managed to release his selected Pokemon. "Sorry to say it, but you're not even good enough to kiss the shoes I wear and worship the ground I spit on."

"You...little...punk!!" he screamed, veins visibly pulsing in his neck that wasn't hidden behind his beard. He could feel the top of his head growing hot. It was nice that he wasn't bald, otherwise the entire world would see the top of his head and think it was an emergancy light. "You'll swallow those words and eat dirt!"

Kilik shook his head and lifted a hand, "No, no thank you. I'm not very hungry at the moment."

"Well I suppose I should really be heading out. I don't want to loose Mag's trial!" Linalee said after a few minutes of talking with Alice. "Well I guess so. If you find Mag remind him to call us every once in a while. He seems to have forgotten and we (AKA PETE) lost his Pokenav number." Alice said with a nervous chuckle. "What is this old coot saying about me?" Pete said walking in with a pokeball in his hand.

"Oh nothing..." Linalee said with a glance and a smile to Alice. "Well whatever. So before you go you should take this!" he said putting the ball into Linalee's hand. "It is a pokemon that I've been rasing up as a gift to a new trainer that sparked my fancy and you just happened to come in time to get it!" He said laughing. "R-r-really?" Linalee said surprised by his actions. She knew Mag's grandparents were generous but a pokemon was entirely different.

"Go ahead and release it." Alice said as Pete put his arm around her shoulder. "Uh... okay." The girl said setting free a long gray and blue fish pokemon. "What is it?" She asked as she set Cagomarg down to pick it up. "That is a Barboach. They come from Hoenn." Pete said. "And that one knows a special move but I'll let you find out which one on your own." He said mysteriously. "Make sure you give it plenty of water." Alice stated. "Right. I'll call her Cisahswi!" She said hugging it before returning the fish so it would no longer be exposed to the air...

*Ding* The PA system sounded waking Linalee from her state of thinking. "Please exit the train and enjoy your stay at Saffron City." The conductors voice stated. Linalee exited with all the other trainers and made it into the city.

Sitting up on the couch he was lounging on Dante continued to pet Apollo on his nose. "What do you say to a camp out tonight Apollo? That way you can sleep outside instead of inside your pokeball." He asked not really wanting to spend the night on the couch. Not having to spend the night in his Safari Ball sounded great to Apollo who gave a happy whinny in response stamping one hoove on the floor in agreement. Smiling slightly Dante gathered all of his stuff. Going over to the counter, and grabbing Levi who was now running around on the floor. "Nurse Joy, do you think you could keep my Meowth and Vibrava for the night? I will pick them up in the morning."

"Of course I can. That would make things easier on me as well. If you want I can give your other pokemon a check up as well." She offered.

Dante thought about it for a moment before shruging. "Apollo here all ready got a check up but I am sure this little girl here could use one. Shiva probably needs one as well." He said fishing out her pokeball as well and setting the Mudkip, with her pokeball, and Shiva's ball down on the counter. He kind of wanted to keep Kenny with him and Apollo through the night. "I will pick them up tomarrow morning Nurse Joy. My name is Dante if you need it."

"Oh I know who you are. I remember your mother coming through here with you when I was younger." She said with a smile as she took his other two pokemon. "Have a good night. You really look like you could use the sleep."

"Hm it was kinda weird that there was no train to Cerulean." Linalee said to herself thinking of what she discovered when she landed in Vermilion City. "But this is close enough." She said happily pulling her bike out of her bag as she prepared to trek up north to Cerulean. Hopefully she could make it there in time to find Mag. She really had a ton she need to catch up with her old friend. After her bike was assembled she began to pedal down the street to the northern gate.

She recalled that there had been some sort of terrorist attack here recently. Everyone looked somewhat disheartened but she decided to push on. Security had let up for the most part and she was able to leave the city rather easily but was warned it wouldn't be easy to get back in.

"Enough chit-chat," Kilik sighed, tossing the ball again, "You're boring me with your constant yelling and it's giving me quite a headache. Three Pokemon in a one-on-one battle, got it?"

"Who're you to make the rules?!" Dramon took a step forward and the earth seemed to shake beneath him. "You think you're above me?!"

He sighed again, "Just go with it. Besides...do you even have more than three Pokemon?"

Dramon took a step back and looked away, mumbling something to himself. "Shut up and battle! I'll use this first!" He tossed the ball onto the ground, engulfing himself in a bright white flash. A blue Pokemon appeared before them all, with red streaks going through his muscles. A gold belt was wrapped around his waist and he had three fin-like appendages on the top of his head. "Machoke, get ready to rip him to shreds!"

Kilik blinked and laughed. "Wow. And here I was expecting a Rattata." One last time, Kilik tossed the Pokeball up into the air, letting it expel the contents. From the flash materialized a purple creature. It floated a foot above the ground and appeared like three orbs connected by fleshy tubes. "Weezing. Are you ready to play?" There was a hissing noise - Weezing released a heart shaped gas cloud. "Good. Let's play, then."

"Impressive," Kyle nodded; holding up the Pokeball that normally housed his Diglett. "So you managed to overcome the type disadvantage."

"Stop being so dramatic, Kyle," Jeff rolled his eyes. "Shut up and send out your Charmeleon already."

"Way to spoil the surprise," Kyle said dejectedly, releasing his final Pokemon with less enthusiasm than before.

Kasiya's heart skipped a beat at the sight of the muscular little fire lizard. It slashed the air with its claws, and scattered embers on the ground with its flaming tail. The girl shook herself out of her stupor, it wasn't the first time she'd met a Charmeleon, obviously, and it wouldn't be the last. Kyle will be lucky to have a Charizard too, the girl thought enviously, remembering her brief yet fun ride on Nitro's back as he carried her and Mike across the water. Flash's Hidden Power would be useless now, but at least Flash could let loose his Electric-type attacks again. She would have a bit of an advantage this time, though. After battling with Mike so many times, she had a decent knowledge of Charmeleon's movements and available attacks. "Give it a taste of your Thunderbolt, Flash!" Kasiya said finally. Flash proceeded to launch a powerful volley of electricity at the fire lizard, who was too busy slashing the air and growling to notice the attack. Flash's Thunderbolt landed a solid hit, and the Charmeleon glared at Flash, pointing at the Jolteon with a claw as if to say "You're mine!"

Squinting still, Aphrodite didn't even realize she was being attacked until it was too late. She had no time to react to the attack, and the beam blasted against her body with such force that she was knocked to the ground. Victreebel seemed to be more powerful than she was, and that, while factored in with the other battle elements, is what caused her to face. She was recalled a moment or two afterwards.

In a burst of soft sparkles, Krystal was sent out to replace her fallen comrade. She grinned, realizing the bright sun would be giving her just the edge in the battle that she needed. "So, I'll bet that you thought you'd be able to use this weather to your advantage, hmm?" Krystal asked her opponent, whom she heard scream in response. "Well, that's where you're wrong, sweetie." She jetted forward and wrapped her sinewy body all around Victreebel's, and tightened her grasp.

With a grin, Krystal turned her head to look at her opponent, and opened her mouth, loosing a long stream of fire in a Flamethrower attack at the plant Pokemon. She released him
as he hopped around in a panic, screaming his head off. Previously weakened from Aphrodite's Ice Beam attack, the fire proved to be too much for the Pokemon. He collapsed on the ground, and was recalled, Krystal floating back over towards Nina.

Out of Raimundo's last Pokeball came an intimidating-looking Kingdra. He floated in place, looking warily toward Krystal.

Misty giggled at Mag's self-berating. "Water is my domain, so naturally I've learned to use it to my advantage." She pushed her red bangs out of her eyes, and placed her hands on her hips. A glint of red could be spotted at varying intervals under the water; Staryu was obviously a lot quicker and agile when it was submerged. "Try out your Water Pulse on that Eevee!" the gym leader called.

Seconds later, Staryu burst from beneath the surface of the pool behind Shining, its center core once again flashing blue as it loosed a bull’s-eye pattern of watery rings at the Eevee.

"Weezing! Attack with Sludge!" he annouced, lifting an arm to point at the Machoke opposite him. With a smile on his face, Weezing floated up into the air and vomited a black substance onto his opponent. It was sticky, almost like tar, and tasted delicious on its way up.

Machoke jumped out of the way and managed to avoid it, watching it land harmlessly on the spot he was standing previous. "Use Seismic Toss!" Dramon called. With a hearty nod, Machoke jumped into the air, directly at Weezing. Extending a hand, the Pokemon wrapped his fingers around one of the tubes connecting the spheres together then threw his foe to the ground, creating somewhat of a crater. Machoke landed on the ground safely, using his momentum to perform a backflip as he hit the dirt.

Weezing floated up slowly, tears welling up in his eyes. He looked over at Kilik and whimpered, his jaw quivering slightly. The boy gulped. Had Dramon really bested him? Could he lose this? He shook his head. No way. He wasn't going to lose to him in front of all these people. "Weezing! Use Poison Gas!" A light purple haze began to flood the area near Machoke. The gas was being released from the holes on Weezing's body and the Pokemon wore the same stupid look as before, all evidence of sorrow erased.

"Blasted boy!" Dramon roared, "Machoke! Hold your breath until the gas disappates!" With that, Machoke took a deep breath, very careful not to inhale any of the gas. Purple smoke swirled around the Pokemon for a minute or so and then disappeared harmlessly. "Now then..." Dramon cracked his knuckles, "Fire Punch!"

Flash returned the Charmeleon's glare with one of his own, hissing at the dark orange Fire-type. "Bring it on, Flame-boy," the Jolteon shot back, and again, without waiting for his trainer to issue a command, shot into a Quick Attack, a telltale streak of white flowing behind him as he crashed into the Charmeleon at a blinding speed.

"Hey!" Kasiya grumbled, but Flash wasn't listening.

Neither was Charmeleon, even though Kyle was yelling out orders one after the other. The lizard lashed out with his claws, catching Flash on the side and leaving three deep red gashes to go with the one on his leg. The Jolteon narrowed his eyes, pivoting on his front paws and landing a fierce Double Kick right in the center of the Charmeleon's chest. It gave a startled growl, and grabbed onto one of Flash's offending legs with both clawed hands, and tossed the Eevolution away from him, following up with a burst of flames in the form of an Ember.

Kasiya and Kyle exchanged confused glances and shrugged; for some reason, these two didn't like each other from the word go. Kasiya had a sneaking suspicion that Flash's extreme abhorrence for the Charmeleon stemmed from the earlier 'race' with Nitro; the Charizard had cheated in the Jolteon's eyes, and that was unacceptable.
