Nexxus would frown slightly, but nod.
"I understand, as well. So why the pacifist mind, Maximos? ... Surely you must understand my need to exist, to even the scales in the favor of the weaker hand.... I'm not trying to coax you, I assure you. I'm just curious."
And then, nails on chalkboard.
"Please, I've told you once, I'll tell you again. Just call me Nexxus."

Using a proper surname was just a very bad habit Maximos was stuck on.
Of course, Nexxus.
He immediately corrected himself before continuing. His opinions were completely open to those that were curious about them.
I do believe the supposed "weaker hand", requires assistance from time to time. However, I do no see why that assistance necessitates killing. Which is to say, that anything that exists to "dispose", of others...
His arm twitched once.
...need not exist. Not all problems require violence, to solve them.

"They say... That we should do unto others, as we want others to do unto us. If you want love, you give love. If you seek hate, you give hate. But see, this is flawed. People can be set in their ways. You give love, but you recieve anger. I believe none of it..."
He'd pause, rising, plucking the blade from the sand. Walking a little ways away, he'd begin to move through the motions of combat. The weapon was beautiful, the jagged edges singing in the wind, a haunting, wobbling sound. Eerie. After a few one handed slashes and jabs, he'd turn, place the tip in the sand, and rest his hands on the hilt looking to Maximos.
"You do, as others do unto you. If you meet someone, you treat them kindly until they give you a reason not to. If a man rushes you with a blade, you meet him with equal force. If he desires to take it from you, or someone else, He must be willing to lose his own as well."
He'd sigh, looking down.
"You have a point, though there is weakness to it. Pacification of a hostile target can be done, to investigate their means and reasons. But what if during that pacification, trying to do everything you can to stop an attacker... What if the very thing you interrupted this man doing, was done while you were walking the motions of a peaceful approach?"

Honestly, that was very simple. It may have sounded like a cold answer, but it was honestly the best.
Then you did not try hard enough.
His eye scan over the blade in the sand.
Ending life is easy...
His words hung for a moment as he turned back to Nexxus.
But are you strong enough to save it?

"To ask that of yourself is to become Atlas, and carry the whole world upon your shoulders. Am I strong enough to save lives, without flaw, without fail? No, but I can do my damnedest to try."
Nexxus would lift the blade, nimbly, pointing at Maximos.
"There is no ease in taking life. Everyone has potential. Every life has a promise, and a purpose. It is a heavy thing, that weighs your days like sand in your shoes, and to think otherwise is folly. You ask me if I am strong enough to save lives... The strength I gain from carrying death on my shoulders, day in and day out, make sure that I am."
"You ask if I am strong enough, to protect those who matter. I answer you yes, because I walk both sides, not just one. You've walked both, and you're disgusted with yourself because of it. Death is part of life. It's hard, to resign someone to that, but it must be done, for the greater good."
Nexxus was not a barbarian slaughterer of evil. He prayed over the corpses of those fallen, opening a respite in death. He carried the weight on his shoulders, rather than just blowing it off as a "Rough day at work."

Random Stranger #36 "To ask that of yourself is to become Atlas, and carry the whole world upon your shoulders. Am I strong enough to save lives, without flaw, without fail? No, but I can do my damnedest to try." Nexxus would lift the blade, nimbly, pointing at Maximos. Maximos' eyes locked on the blade. He didnt hear any of the other words the man spoke beyond that. In Maximos' experience...that was a threat. His eyes slid from the blade to Nexxus. That kindness was beginning to slip away. Please do not point a weapon at me Nexxus. I dont see a reason we should fight.

Nexxus lowered the blade, slightly away and to the right.
"There isn't. Nor should you consider me a threat, if you truly believe in what you believe in."
Nexxus would sigh, looking upward at the ceiling.

Nexxus would sigh, looking upward at the ceiling. Really, why is that? The Shadow said cocking his head to the side. Simply because I wont kill you, does not mean you would not try to kill me.He stifled a laugh, shaking his head. I said that I do not kill, that no one should. Not that no one would. Afterall you said your purpose was to dispose of a certain kind of individual wasnt it?

Nexxus would laugh. A deep, hearty thing, though not the love of humor that tainted his tone, but sweet anguish and desperation, frustration and irritation.
"But you see, right there you hold the ticket in your hand! You are of pure heart, so obviously, You refuse to use the darkness to kill, one of the greatest evils. You believe no man should raise his hand in violence."
"Where in there, are you an agent of evil? Where in there, do you write your name on your death certificate?"

Meanwhile confusion reigned across Maximos' face. He didnt understand what was so funny, but at the same time he didnt understand the confusion. One man was against killing, the other was not.
But Nexxus, if I hold the ticket in my actions, what is our trouble? I simply believe no many should have to raise his hand in violence to solve a problem. And that no one at all, should have to kill.
He tilted his head to the side a bit.
My point was that as your purpose is to kill those that abuse the Darkness. Another's purpose may be to kill me. I was simply trying to state that just because I do not kill, does not mean people will refrain from trying to kill me.

"Don't worry. If someone tried to kill you... I'd kill them. You're really too kind to deserve to die, even for your beliefs. I apologize if that lessens me in your eyes. We differ, yes, greatly in our views of Life and Death, but I hope that won't wound our potential friendship."
He'd swirl in a circle, causing the blade to hum with that eerie note, before slashing and jabbing at ghosts towards the front of the over-glorified beach-patio.

Now THAT was funny. Maximos had to laugh, he tried to stifle it but it broke through that was rather hilarious. He held his hand up to his mouth trying to keep from being rude. Very slowly it died down.
Oh no, that wouldnt be necessary. I prefer not to fight, but I can defend myself quite well. Their are passive methods of combat. As much of an oxymoron as that seems to be.
With a bright smile, he placed his hands back on his knees.
No, I dont see why it would. Unless of course you feel the need to murder someone in front of me.
He seemed to laugh, as though trying to laugh that off.

"Murder? No. Murder is a most evil crime. I do not murder." He'd meet blades with some invisible foe, pulling the blade up close and using a second hand to brace it, before pushing and lifting a leg in a graceful set of snap-kicks, onetwothree. He'd sigh after this, resting the blade at an angle in the sand, relaxed in his hand.
"Maximos, I am bored."

I suppose that is just part of my "opinion", ending lives before their time is something I consider to be "murder".
But, he wouldnt delve deeper into that. But if they were going to agree to disagree he would certainly mention what exactly he didnt agree with. He watched Nexxus' katra. He seemed something like a bored child. He was bored so he started playing with his toys, his skills. Which was most interesting, though understandable as he was only hours old.
He finally voiced that he was bored though, and the Shadow had no real viable response except.
Oh...I'm sorry. Is there something you would rather be doing?

"Learning. I am hungry, though these.... cucumbers... They do not sate my mind." He would toss the object, the vegetable upward, bringing the weapon gracefully left, right, left, right, using a turn of his wrist to draw the singular, sharp edge acrossed each return, the hunk of fruit diced evenly into the sand.
"I'm sure some beggar would rob me of my possessions if I left, and he can use them more than I... Atleast the common ones." Nexxus would move back within the circle of light of the fire, pulling off his shirt and picking up the Reels, in silence. "I doubt, muchly, that a beggar would find these of use." The armor piece would then be donned and buttoned and clasped and buckled in the front, before shirt was pulled back on. "But the food, they can have that."
