The education systems are different between each state.
But basically where I live, we do 5 subjects in year 12, only English is compulsary. You do tests throughout the year and then exams at the end and end up with an ENTER score which is basically your percentile ranking in the state.
The ENTER score requirements for a course can change each year depending on demand. 'Popular' and 'difficult' courses like medicine and law have really high scores of 99 and 'good' universities will have higher scores as well.
Some courses like architecture, interior design, medicine and things like that have interviews where they consider your work experience, community service, etc or have to have a folio of work submitted. But I've applied for commerce so I don't have to do anything like that!

I guess. XD Though now that I didn't take any science in junior year I'm now on the same level as everyone else. XD
@Shells:
O_o oy. I hate how society is so focused on tests... I do good in the class, but the tests are what screw me over sometimes -- especially in history. I love the class and understand everything. It's just putting all I learned in essay form that I suck at.

Whoa, that's so much easier that what we do here. A lot of the schools in each state do things so differently that it's hard to compare between each school, let alone between states. @.@

It sucks a bit, because if you stuff up your exams, it can be really hard to get into medicine and law.
But at least there's always other ways to get into it if it's what you really want to do. 3nodding
I'm just glad I don't have to write essays and all that to get into uni! It's no wonder that characters on American TV shows are always talking about how things will 'look good on their college applications'. xp

Ugh, yeah. Everything is about the college application. Everything is unfair during college application processes, because it also depends on essays. If you have bad grades but write a really good essay, you can get in over someone who doesn't write a good one but has grades a lot higher than you. I guess it's fair sometimes but unfair at other times.

The essays aren't that bad - usually no longer than a page or a page and a half. It's just that you have to write them that isn't fun. xp
