Gatz wandered onto the beach, having seen a number of new people milling about the sands on the security cameras. By the time he got there, though, only one person was left.

"Hey there," he said, giving Vincent a friendly wave. He glanced over at the heavy crates the man had dragged out onto the sand.

"... You know," Gatz began with a smile, "there are much easier ways to had your stash of dirty magazines. And wouldn't suggest burying those on the beach, unless your crates are waterproof--the surf soaks quite a ways into the sand when the tide comes in."

"Oh, I would not really mind if these did disappear. They're old and no longer have a value to me. So since I couldn't really destroy them, I'm burying them, my friend," said Vincent casually as he continued digging.

He finished up the hole after a few minutes and climbed out. "Excuse me sir," he said to Gatz as he got up onto the surface, "Would you mind helping me push this box in? It's a little difficult to move it through the sand. I'll bury it myself, I assure you."

Deep breaths, but they weren't focused, Quint was running for the pride, to have a struggle and overcome it, now turning back a little to check his opponent. He could at least try a little.. Slowing himself in thought, Quint wanted to make it harder for Caliber, but--

Nah..

Latching onto the skin, Morrigan's bats crushed tightly onto his noticeably smaller consciousness, again taking away a part of the one thing even the newbie bats knew kept you from joining them. Happily they complied however, since with each soul enslaved, their, and consequently Morrigan's, strength increased.

After a personal meal and storing a little more energy, the cloud of swarming bats descended upon Caliber, quickly flying in small, controlled bursts to get past a possible retaliation, hugging themselves tight to his flesh. Once most had clasped on, they used the reserved energy into forcing themselves earthly, but not heavily. They had to proportion the power into lasting until he made it to the shop.

Meanwhile, Quint had suffered a cramp in his sprint, deep within his hamstring. Grimacing, he didn't move another foot.

As Caliber continues to run he notices the bats fly off Quint and quickly go in his direction. What is he up to? Noticing now the bats are descending on him as he flails swinging at them trying to get them away."The hell." Some of them that actually get through his defenses latch onto his body pretty much harmlessly. As time goes on they all latch onto them honestly really wanting to freeze each one that is on his skin. Running up to Quint to see what the point of this was feels that they are actually weighing him down slightly. More than normal bats would if they were on him.

He keeps up his original pace of running not feeling too bothered by it but is getting tired faster. Noticing Quint now stopping suddenly as if an obstacle is infront he soon makes it up by his side."You alright? You took up pretty fast there and now this." Trying to pry one of the bats off."Or did you want to talk now that she is ahead of us?"

Sitting up on his good leg, Quint tried extending the limb while pretending that he wasn't stopped by a lack of stretching, Talk, of course. We can walk the rest...right after I get this sandal on right.. Struggling with his shoe, Quint smiled satisfactorily, then wobbly stood on his strong leg, taking one cautious step to make sure.

..Okay, shall we? He walked, but not without a slight limp, Oh, and the harder you pry, the stronger they tug, so I'd just roll with it.. Quint spoke without turning..

He stops pulling on the bats and walks at your pace. Noticing the slight limp but doesnt bring it to Quint's attention that he notices it better thinking it would be better that way. Would this what I would be amounted to if I stayed with Morrigan? Looking at the bat on his wrist as if it was a watch seeming to be in deep thought, only snapping out of realizing how silent it is."So whats on your mind?"

Gatz shrugged shoved against the box, shoving it towards the open hole. The edge of the pit caved in as the loosely packed sand took the weight, half buring the crate as it tumbled down.

"Well, I fell I should mention that we do have an armory for storing dangerous objects..." he said casually, headed for the next box. "I've also got a vault, but that's where I keep my stash of dirty magazines. Oh--and if 'destroy' is an option, there's always the volcano. It's mostly inactive, but there's still a vent or two that touches on the magma chamber."

Vincent ceased pushing against the box that Gatz was heading towards. He stood up and thought the new options given to him. "I did not know this island had an armory. The volcano, I saw, but I assumed there wouldn't be anything worth checking inside.

"As for the vault, I don't want to barge into someone else's storage unit...erm...no matter what was inside," he told Gatz. He tried to hide his curiosity concerning Gatz's vault with a slight cough.

"I'm Vincent Rohaun, a new resident of this island. And what may I call you?" said the suit and gloves wearing man as he held out his right hand to Gatz.

"I'm Gatz, head of security," he said, accepting the handshake. He let out a short laugh. "Truthfully, I don't know what Aonice was thinking when she gave me the job--it's like having the fox gaurd the hen house, with this island's female population."

The entity cocked his head to the side as he released Vincent's hand. "Of course, I suppose that ensure that I'll keep a watchful eye on things, so there may be some sense to it."

"As long as these four boxes are stored away and never seen again, I will accept what you have to offer," he told Gatz as he felt some relief knowing that the new friend before him would assist him in the disposal of his past.

He walked back over to the poor burial ground for his boxes. He reached in the hole and grasped the handle sticking out of the sand. He pulled as hard as he could, slipping in the sand. He finally managed to pull the box out of the sand, but fell back as he did so. The thick container landed on his chest, while his head sank a bit into the tiny minerals that populated the beach. "Ow...Box...crushing chest...Need...assistance...please..." he coughed.

"Um, super-strength isn't one of my specialties..." Gatz said, looking at his new acquantince's delemia. After a moment he shrugged and shoved the box sideways, rolling it off of Vincent.

"Just what do you have inside of these things?" he asked, dragging it back towards the other crates. The answer hit him as soon as he formed the question. "Oh, wait--I think I know! There's only one thing that can way a man burden a man this much, and that he'd like to rid himself of..." Gatz allowed for an ominous pause as he lifted the box back onto the pallet with a grunt. He glanced back at the gunman, a sympathetic smile on his face.

"... The past," he finished quietly.

Vincent was coughing and weezing on the ground after having the crate lifted off his chest. He stopped almost immediately when Gatz mentioned what he was trying to hide. And then he knew that the man before him had guessed the contents of each box.

The suit and gloves wearing man stood up slowly. He moved over to Gatz, close enough so only they could hear their conversation. "What would you know and burying the past, Gatz!?" he hissed beneath his breath.

Wanting to finally make it to the shop, Quint didn't stop at the query, but did turn around to face Caliber, walking backwards. I wonder what is to become of the island, in general. He sighed as the pair crossed the subtle transition of sand and grass, leading to the wooden boardwalk, It has been way too long since our last 'catastrophe', and I haven't seen Aonice in months. Yawning, Quint could feel the wall and glass of one of a prestigious shop:

Atlas' Shoulder: We wouldn't be in the business if we couldn't throw a middle to Newton!

Inside, a cast that Quint wouldn't expect, but before he about-faced, he asked, We're overdue, and I'm bored, so tell me: What would you suggest to do if this island suddenly and irreparably went to s**t?

Looking behind Quint from time to time in cas he actually runs into or trips over something he cant see."Did something happen to her? But I havent really been socializing so I dont really know whats going on around here. Last thing I remember witnessing was some of the houses here were destroyed then rebuilt. And something about there were a lot of cars being stolen." His walking stride seems a little faster now that they are on the boardwalk.

"If the island has problems I would think to bring more people in by contest or add something to entice people to come. If your talking about if someone is trying to destroy everything I dont know if I could assist much. If nothing works then I might leave but dont know where I could go. There a lot of fun and interesting people from what Ive seen."

"More than I'd like to," the entity replied with an easy shrug, turning back to the boxes. "Enough that I won't inquire into specific details, like asking what might be inside these things." He shook his head sympathetically. "I've already got my own cross to bear without grabbing hold of yours as well--everyone does, I imagine."

Gatz grabbed hold of the cart and started to push it along, slowing making progress over the tracts of sand as they headed for the defense base. "I have to say, though, I've never tried to literally bury my past," he commented with a chuckle. "Somehow I imagine it would be rather vocal in its protests if I tried."
