"Thanks, Roberts - and ******** off." Lex haggardly hissed at Evan, meanwhile leaning on the stockier man for support while he collected himself. Breathing hurt, talking hurt, existing hurt. This was ******** up.

"You have any idea what's going on here? Those Hunters... that the green eye stuff I've read about in reports?"

He scoured the field for people he knew, Stormy catching his eye. He'd have to thank her later, and apologize for not seeming so grateful when she helped him.

Tommy- courtyard

As Tommy tried to help, an infected Hunter tried to help him too. There was a sharp sting, and then in a moment, he was entangled in a net. A Runic net. A Runic electric net.

OOC
Tommy takes -10 damage. He needs to get himself out. Roll 1d4. If you roll a 4 you are freed, otherwise you continue to take -5 damage. Someone else can help you but they also take -5 damage. Whomever rolls 4 will free him

"Thanks, man," Dawson said gratefully as he took the bandages, hobbling after him and Maebe as more vines came out to take them. A little leery of approaching, he waited until Maebe stopped trying to stab herself on the thorns and tugged her away.

"I got an idea. How 'bout you stop tryin' t'get yerself killed 'fore I can slap these on," he said in a strange tone, anxiously casual. But his hands weren't used to bandaging; to hammering, to breaking, to knitting and sewing, yes but not to healing. The sight and smell of blood, the sound of snarls and screams--his fingers trembled too much to do Maebe as much good as he wanted.

"C-Close enough," he muttered when he finished. "Now could ya please stop with the 'told ya so' routine n' stop tryin' to run around so much?"

Hell, even Jordan was taking a pause. And looked a little out of it. "You aight, man?"

Ripley paused as Finn presented a very good idea - and obviously one that he, in his haste to save his brother friend, had over looked. He gave his partner a very mental congratulatory clap, but before he could respond - the vines surged overhead to the dorms, and the swarm arrived. His mind spun, but as he thought of a solution, it already seemed to be going into play: Jack turned to face the mob, and swung at them.

"Hey. Can you keep him pointed away from anyone uninfected?" He called to the group yet spoke to no one in particular, nodding towards Jack's back. "Finn's right, we don't want to hurt him, but we can probably get him to put his crazy to use, if we point him in the right direction." It was a lot of words, too many for him, but it was important to get out. Especially that Finn's right part. Gold Star, Moon Hunter.

"I'd offer you whiskey, but…" Ripley's gaze went towards the dorms, which were shrouded in vines. That should have sufficed as an answer, he felt. "I'll help you look for Shy. If you guys are okay keeping a leash on our sword happy friend?" He asked, turning his gaze from Finn, to Chel, to Leslie, and to whomever had meandered their way over. There was a small pause, and then he gave Ian a very disapproving look. "We're not going to throw him to the vines."

It came as a call only Ripley could hear.

"I am here."

Immediately, his vision began to blur, flicker, and a sense of panic and dread fill him, bubbling first at the surface of his chest and then rising, sharper, tighter. He felt like he was drowning for a moment, as his lungs failed to work, as his heart beat too fast -

- And then the fear escalated to full panic. He could see it. He could see others as they truly were as creatures of shadow, wearing masks, strange, mutilated masks, reaching out towards him, snarling and screeching.

He was alone.

OOC

Ripley has a bit of a uh, small problem. He sees everyone as mutated creatures wearing masks. He cannot hear or understand anyone until he takes more than 10 damage. In addition, this panic also makes him slightly more aggressive.

[ Courtyard - Zeke ]

Quote:
Zeke is on fire! ON VERY FIRE.

- Roll 4d10 to see how much damage you initially take from the flames. The higher the damage, the worse he looks, anywhere from first to third degree burns. Anyone nearby can attempt to help him, by rolling 1d6. Each roll lessens the permanent damage done to him.

Ever came at him with a rag, mopping up the blood on his face, and Zeke took that moment to try to catch his breath. His had was pounding, not because of the thorns, but whatever it was tat was making them all feel like s**t. It hadn't been this bad earlier, he'd felt mostly fine, just a little off. Now he felt like standing was nearly outside his capabilities. He was feverish, enough so that the air on the island seemed chilled against his skin.

It was like the flu, mixed with a really bad hang over. He just wanted to lay down and block out the world, but it was currently ending all around ******** don't.." He trailed off, blinking as someone came walking up to them, to him. "What do you-" The question never made it past his lips. He saw the green eyes, sucked in a breath to shout a warming, then got a chest full of fire from the runic torch he hadn't paid any mind to. The flames spread fast, eating over his shirt, his coat, the skin underneath. It tore a cream from his throat, dropped him to the ground where he tried to roll to put the flames out, but they just burned on and on. And his screaming carried on with them.

She had made it through, but Sherry... Sherry was still stuck!
She was about to turn and try to pull the hunter, when another hunter ran into her.
Mimi cried out in surprise as she was tossed forward. An unbearable pain shot up her arm, along with the sound of snapping, and it was the only thing that prevented her from passing out. However, everything was dark... no, darker. She couldn't see. Why couldn't she see?

"S-Sherry! Sherry!!"
She gropped blindly around her, grabbing nothing but air. The girl began to wail loudly and cry, like a child abandoned. It hurt... so much.
"Sherry!!"

Quinn - Courtyard

'WAIT-'

The image of a figure waving as the doors closed, more questions rolling around in his head than answers. The doors closed almost grueling slow, his voice unable to ask anything more. His question wasn't even answered.

Quinns eyes opened quickly in comparison to the mental elevator doors, and with a gasp of breath he jerked his head up quickly enough to bang his forehead against the hunter who was just giving him CPR.

Now adding seeing stars to his current health conidions, his vision slowly returned to crystal clear as the hunter he just knocked against came into view. "Ow just, crap." He sat up now and held his head between his hands, both it and his chest both like something had squeezed them too tight. Once his mind caught up to the pain, he felt himself doing his usual embarrassed flush realizing that this was the second time in less than ten minutes he had not only almost died, but also kissed two almost-strangers. He figured they both would need to separate soon, emergency situation causing s**t to hit the fan, but wanted his thanks to the other hunter to be known. "I mean- Thank you" A pause." I dont know your name." He was happy, but it was bittersweet to be awake again. He wanted to ask the figure more questions, and frankly he liked the confines of that garlicy smelling room over the mob they were currently dealing with.

[ Courtyard - Ever ]

Ever's expression was still distracted when Zeke went up in flames in front of him, but that snapped him right out of it. His eyes clicked onto the other man and, without even a pause, he body-checked him down into the dirt of the courtyard, swatting as best he could at the flames. It meant Ever, likely, would end up with a few burns of his own -- and he didn't even do that good of a job of putting him out.

"Hey! Hey --" He tried to grab for a nearby hunter. "I need a coat."

Kostya might have been too busy to notice the chaos happening around him. So when it finally happened, when he was chosen and picked from the masses, his legs simply gave away as something pulled him feet first away, far, far away from the circle. It didn't stop moving.

And when Kostya had a moment to look up, he would only see himself. It was a perfect replica. It was a perfect replica, but looked a little more clean and a little more composed. It was holding a Runic Dagger and calmly stuck it into Kostya's side, like sticking a roast pig, attempting to carve it downwards. The pain for a moment was excruciating.

"You are me," it said, perfectly imitating his accent, "I am you."

Hello, there are now two Kostyas. Kostya can try to get away from Kostya no.2, but that requires a little bit of struggle and effort (you OR another player must do more than 4 damage to Kostya No.2 in a single roll). Otherwise, you continue to take -5 auto damage from him. Others can try to help but it may be difficult to tell which Kostya is which. If they try to help him but miss, they hit the actual Kostya for 5 damage instead.

The vines carried Gale and Otto through the mass against the wall and then oddly enough over. The thorns wrapped around them were sharp but not agonizing.

They continued to move, dragged down the familiar path of the lighthouse, until they reached the beach. Oddly enough, the vines cushioned most of their descent.

A child was waiting for them on the beach, and he had bare feet, bare arms, wearing a green hat with a red feather on it. He had no face, simply hollow green eyes. Gale would recognize the same presence from the garden.

"I win," said the child, in a strange proclamation. "It is mine now." The child's form flickered, until it was just power and nothing else. "You can have your island back, Gale Gentry, Otto Graves. I want something from you in return. A wish. One of your wishes."

The Semblance of Unity
[Courtyard - Horace] "So where the hell are the division leaders, then, Mark?"

Mark gave Horace a disgruntled face, bordering on annoyance and very much resignation as he mentioned the other division leaders. Then, he took his scarf, bandaged his own hand, and pulled out from seemingly nowhere a jet pack.

Yes, a jet pack.

Well, to be fair, the Death Assistant had been saving it for something else, but he strapped it on, bid Horace adieu, and then hit the launch button -

- And went flying about ten feet where he faceplanted and just lay there, with his butt in the air, feeling really sad about himself.

Otto grew terrified as they were dragged over the wall. But the longer it went on.. the more he realize he wasn't in pain. The vines cushioned the journey, and Otto turned from feeling scared to mildly awkward. Did he just... lay back and enjoy the ride or what? But they were getting close to the ocean, and his imagination began going haywire again. What if the vine lord was going to drown them? Otto would die and it would be all Gale's fault. That limey b*****d.

But they soon stopped, and Otto breathed out a relieved sigh. He was still stuck, but he wasn't being dragged into a mouth or a swarm or anything terrible. No.. but when he turned his head back to see who was speaking..

What the ******** was that thing?

His heart clenched in worry. What did this kid have now? Won? This was bad. They had failed to protect Deus. As always. The leads would tear them a new one. They really were incompetent miscreants.

This thing knew their names. Otto stared, and dread came over him like a thick black tar. He wanted one of their wishes.. in return for giving back the island.. saving the hunters.

Otto of course wanted to keep himself safe, but what good was that if he lived knowing he'd helped himself instead of others? Let Gale keep his wish for more ******** Earl Grey. Otto had all he ever needed. Friends. Love. A renovated apartment he'd just ******** spent nine grand on.

"Fine." Otto breathed out in a restrained tremble. "Take my ******** wish, just don't ******** with our home anymore."
