Duncan finds himself a seat at the bar and places his hat down on the counter. "I'll have a pint, thanks." The bartender raised an eyebrow at him expectantly, waiting for him to finish his sentence as if he didn't already. "...Ah, right sorry, Guinness, a pint of Guinness chief. Sorry about that."
Duncan placed some cash on the bar for the bartender and was handed his drink shortly after. He took a long sip from his drink, the rich and creamy stout sliding down the back of his throat leaving a refreshing aftertaste. He scanned the bar taking in the decor. Duncan counted himself lucky he actually found a bar that shared some of his tastes. It wasn't like the pubs back home, but the jazz in the background was good and the sights were certainly entertaining. He was still getting used to this city here, but it only cause him trouble down the line if he doesn't learn what goes on in the streets, and he may as well have a drink while he's at it.

Viv sighed some as she pushed open the door to the bar, hanging her ear buds around her neck as she pocketed her phone. "Hey Bar tender. Can I get two shots of the best whiskey you got and todays paper?" Viv walked over to the bar slapping down a hundred dollar bill on the bar grabbing up a stool. "Viv, looking forward to today's word search?" Viviana laughed at the question and nodded some with a grin. "A little drinking and a little braining is always a great way to start a day." Viv smirked some as she handed the bar tender the second shot, sniffing it. "Ah smoked and spiced notes and a touch of herbal flowers." Viv took a small sip and smirked at the man. "it has a smoked taste with almonds and lush-fruits notes. It offers a velvet-like everlasting finish. Midleton Irish whiskey. 1960's and one of maybe 2000 bottles." Viviana slammed down the shot with a smirk. "Is there a single brand of whiskey you haven't tasted? I swear each time you come in here you always surprise me with your knowledge. The usual?" Viviana grabbed a pen from behind the bar then tapped her chin. "You know what... Why don't you surprise me today. I'm in rare mood today. Feel like I'm walking on water." The two shared a laugh as the man started to fill a pint glass with a dark, rich beer.
Viviana took her time sipping her beer as she worked on her word search with a small groan, her face twisting some with a puzzled look. "Five letter country starting with Y..." There was the tapping of plastic to skin as Viviana rapidly tapped the pen to her chin. "Oh... Yemen!" Quickly circling it her eyes turned to the bar tender who was watching her. "You know Viv... you are a surprisingly smart girl. Why are you in a place like this?" Viviana looked at the man trying to form an answer then shrugged some with a sigh. "Let's just say I've traveling. Gypsy soul. Gotta travel and see where the road takes me." Her eyes traveled to the man next to her then back at the Bartender. "Three shots of that delicious Midleton. For you me and tall dark and stranger here." Viviana smiled as she turned to face Duncan. "Viviana Marvel, you can call me Viv." Her bright blue eyes seemed to sparkle some as she extended her hand. The girls mood seemed to be on a whole new level of happy and calm.

He saw her the minute she walked up to the bar. His eyes make a slow trip up from her legs to her bright pink hair. A pretty tattooed gal that wastes no time getting friendly at the bar, good chance of being a regular. On top of that she knows quite a bit about her whiskey.
It doesn't take long for her to introduce herself to him along with offering some top shelf whiskey. She's got money to burn he thought, passing out whiskey like that to a stranger. Like any gentleman though he takes her hand when offered and returns a greeting, "Duncan, pleasure to meet ye, Viv." He takes the shot glass for him, taking a cursory sip first, the rich notes of almonds are pleasing to the palate as the alcohol warms his throat leaving a lingering citrus finish. "You sure know how to pick 'em alright, sláinte." He clinks his shot glass with Viv's and the bartender's before knocking back the shot.
"So tell me Viv, do you always entertain strangers with top shelf whiskey, or did I just wake up that good looking today?" he joked as he shifted his chair towards her.

Viv knocked back the shot with a small shiver up her spine then giggled softly turning around some leaning her back on the bar. "Lets just say it's a wonderful day. Gotta spread how I feel out to others. Can't always hog up all the good vibes." Viv looked around some checking for anyone who would throw a fit as she pulled a pack of cigarettes from inside her shirt, pulling on out and lighting it up as the Bar tender set an ash tray next to her.
Viv took a long drag looking over at the man with offering a cigarette. "So Duncan, what's a guy like you doing in a beautiful place like this?" Viviana chuckled a little with a small smirk as she reached for her beer taking a rather large gulp before she ashed her cigarette taking another long drag with a sigh closing her eyes. At least she decided to walk rather then drive her bike but still the idea of having to stagger home later was a little lack luster but she'd make do. At least she wasn't sitting at home drinking alone today.

A very easygoing answer, but one that matched up with her current demeanor. Duncan took another swig from his beer before answering her. "Well, I'm a bit new in town so I needed to get myself familiar with the area. Especially the bars. Burlesque bars aren't my usual haunt but what can I say? Good music and good alcohol will still do me just right. And view is... eye-catching." he smirked as his gaze lingered over her bright blue eyes. There was a real spark of life behind those eyes, maybe a bit more too.
Duncan reached into his jacket and pulled out a small black leather case. He opened the top and pulled out a cigar. He reached back into his jacket and fumbled with the pocket for a few seconds longer than expected, he must've left his lights back home he realized. Sheepishly he looked back at Viv, "I don't suppose I could trouble you for a light could I?" he said as he placed the cigar to his lips while staring back at Viv.

Viv shook her head some with a small sigh. "Sadly not for a cigar. I'd hate to ruin the flavor with a cheap a** gas station lighter but... I can do you one better." Viv pulled herself up onto the bar, spinning herself till her legs were behind the bar. "Oi Viv! You know you can't be back here. I'll loose my job if your caught." The girl rolled her eyes some with a sigh. "Then don't get caught? I promise I'll only be back here for a minute or two." Viv smirked as she set out two pink glasses filling them with Guinness then two shot glasses with the same top shelf whiskey. "Yeah yeah I know. MY tabs getting a little up there. You know I'm good for it." The girl took a took pick lighting it on her cigarette before tapping it to the shot glasses, holding one to the mans cigar letting him light off of it.
With one mission completed Viv moved to the next one as she took the two shot glasses dropping them into the pints as the foam bubbled and poured over then a loud POP from the gasses building in the beer. "Exploding irish car bombs. Use to be a house special back in Ohio." The girls laugh was rather light hearted as she handed him the glass before walking out from behind the bar. That's when a song came on her phone that made Viv smirk some as she started to sing along,

Chuckling some the girl looked at the man who's eyes seemed to have more questions about the woman beside him. Viv was a strange one, a real class act and a little bit of a fire cracker but still being an a bar, behind the bar actually was were she was happiest. The thoughts of what she was going to do with her life now seemed troubling. She missed her Mississippi Maiden but at the same time she had to start a new. Wouldn't this be do over time three? Her mind started to travel down a darker road as she sipped her drink as she looked down into the dark liquid trying not to think to much about what was going on. It seemed like at the drop of a hat her mood was plummeting into some dark void out of reach. The once bright spark in her eyes now lost somewhere.
That's when it clicked. Was she sad or was someone around her depressed? Could it have been her own mood that was poisoning her or was it someone else? Sighing softly Viv set her drink down handing two hundred to the bar tender without a word as she started to slam down her drink like it was water. Viv could out drink most men but now she was trying to self medicate. 'Bury it.' She thought as she set down her empty glass before ordering another strong drink, hopefully something to help chase away the devils on her back.

Duncan puffed on his cigar and nodded in thanks to Viv who has now suddenly commandeered the bar. Her familiarity behind there is apparent and, paired with her obvious knowledge about spirits, led Duncan to believe she must have quite a bit of bartending experience in her life, which she quickly confirmed when serving him this next drink. He raised an eyebrow at the 'exploding irish car bomb'. Your classic American cocktail, a chug the beer-shot combo made to get you drunk with an offensive name slapped on top.
He was pretty sure she didn't mean anything by it of course and hell, he's not paying for any of this so he may as well indulge her. Duncan slammed back the cocktail with ease. "Not too bad, I'd maybe rethink the na..." his voice trails off as she starts to sing along with the song playing. She's got a husky voice, like smoke and silk, that does things to your imagination. It takes years of hard drinking to get a voice like that and he's certain she'd know how to work a crowd if she actually performed on a stage.
It wasn't long after she finished singing though that her mood seemed to go from light and cheery to somber and confused. She handed the bartender another outrageous amount of money and started to get well and truly hammered. A kind of drinking that Duncan is all too familiar with. "Hey Viv, how long ya been in this city? Any sights a new resident like myself oughta be acquainted with?" he tried to distract her from whatever weighed her down with a different topic.

The enigma of a woman sighed some shrugging a little. "About a week or so I think? Benny here." Viviane poimted to the man behind the bar with a small smile. "He's known me since I was little. He was friends with my mom." The old man nodded some with a smile as he reached over ruffling the girls hair. "Aye thats right. I bet my left nut shes more proud of you then anything. The two laughed as Viv stared down at her drink with a sigh. "That she is. Went from having nothing and her working two jobs to now not having to work a day again in my life. As long as I keep making wose investments I could probably live off of what I have till I'm long passed dead." Those once sparkling life filled eyes seemed dim for a moment before she started to slam down another drink
"Alright Viv I know your paying well but I'm gonna have to cut you off. I love you to much to see you drink yourself sick.'" The man gently grabbed her hand as her eyes lovkex with his for a aingle moment then nodded. The old man had a point. If she kept drinking the way she was going getting home would be a proble. A major problem. Looking over at Duncan, a frail smile upon her face. "Hey. Interested in a whiskey tasting? I know a place with quite the selection." As she stood her legs wobbled a little bit with a stretch she seemed to be good and still able to stand and probably walk like a boss.

The pieces of this Viv's story were falling into place, little by little, for Duncan. It was also certainly interesting to note that he's yet to meet anyone who was an actual local here. How mysterious it was that this city seems to attract so many people all over. However that was enough musing for now, there were more pressing matters. Duncan put out his cigar, grabbed his hat and stood up.
"We'll see how the outside air does ya first before more whiskey, yeah? A nice walk might do us both some good."

The fallen angel stared at her watch; it was currently 11 am and she was just done interacting with her client online to have the artwork delivered to their doorstep earlier before the blind date today. After her relationship with her ex, Hikaru actually had some reservations about that sort of event, but in the end she decided to give it a go. Turned out that the place for the date was at the Captain's Deck, so she should made the effort to look decent. In the end, she went for a simple T-shirt with jeans and sneakers, but has a pair of golden stud earrings. And Hikaru took flight since the weather was fitting before she had landed towards the entrance and showed up inside.
“I'll have a glass of Electric Lemonade if that will be okay,” she replied when the bartender asked her what drink she would like. Her physical body was that of a teenager but her real age was still a mystery; best to savor that moment of adulthood as much as she could. The food could wait till the mystery date would show up. Hikaru closed her eyes as she savored the fitting background music for the area.
Ren had woken Hisako up that morning which wasn't too out of the ordinary as the fox tended to be up early. After checking the time on her phone she found a note she had left about a blind date she had. She had almost forgotten about that! Quickly jumping out of her bed she rushed around the room getting dressed. The oni wasn't exactly sure what type of outfit would've been best for the date location, the name of the place: The Captain's Deck, really wasn't the greatest indicator. So she just dressed up in one of the cute dresses she had picked up before coming to Soleil. After putting her hair up into cute pigtails, she grabbed her purse and petted her companion on the head. When she had mentioned signing up for the blind date in the first place that Ren wouldn't be able to come with her but if she went to a place with good food then she'd bring back a doggie bag. With a final wave she left her house and headed down to the beach. Hisako dashed along as fast as she could, being careful not to trip on her sandals. Taking a deep breath she straightened up her dress and walked inside, pulling her phone out of her bag. The service had sent her a picture of her date, so all she had to do was find her. After looking around and enjoying the music, she finally spotted the girl. Walking over she reached out and lightly tapped her shoulder. "Ah hello there are you Hikaru?" she asked softly, feeling quite excited about this. She'd only been on one date prior to this and it had been disastrous but there was always second chances so hopefully this would be better!

The notes of the saxophone filled her ears; Jazz wasn't totally her cup of tea but decided to appreciate the craftsmanship. It when Hikaru felt something on her shoulder that her imaginary bubble popped and she was sent back to reality. The fallen angel let out an almost silent 'ah' in surprise before facing the one behind her. She then let out a sheepish laugh. “Yes, I am Hikaru. Sorry, am currently daydreaming,” she apologized, then collected herself long enough to ask something similar, “And you must be Hisako, my blind date for the day, if I can guess correctly. Nice to meet you,” she greeted the other, extending her hand for the other to shake. The fallen angel took notice of the outfit. Much more girly than what the fallen angel was wearing, but acceptable.
“That outfit looks good on you. Reminds me of my friend,” Hikaru complimented. Solaris had sent her an e-mail after a long time, showing her the pictures of what she's wearing. All girly, showing an air of being a princess. The bartender then called her because of her drink and Hikaru gave her a word of thanks before facing Hisako once again. “Do you want something to eat or drink? All's on me today,” she offered with a smile. She was in the mood to become a bit more generous right now.
Hisako blinked for a moment before her lips quirked up into a smile. "Oh there's no need to be sorry. I daydream a whole lot, it's quite fun!" she said with a giggle. Being a slight space case it never really occurred to her how almost constantly daydreaming could be a bad thing unless someone was in the middle of something very important. The oni nodded and reached a hand out to, gently, grab Hikaru's hand. She had been doing good for a while to watch her monstrous strength and would've hated to accidentally hurt the other girl. "It's nice to meet you too, I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long." she said rubbing the back of her head. Looking down at her outfit Hisako grinned and played with the hem of her dress. "Thank you, I'm glad you like it. I wasn't really sure what type of place this was so I didn't want to be too dressy. Someone I stayed with for a while gave me this dress and this is the first time I've worn it." The other girl's mention of being reminded of her friend did make her curious but figured that'd be something to ask later. Her stomach rumbled softly just as her date asked if she wanted to eat, in her hurry to get here she had completely skipped breakfast. So she looked at Hikaru with wide eyes and a bright grin. "Yes sure I would love some food, I'm actually quite hungry. What kind of food do they serve here?" she asked curiously, looking to find a menu of some kind. Thankfully she wasn't a picky eater and so would eat whatever this place had.

She giggled when she heard Hisako's stomach grumbling, gently gesturing for her date to sit down. “This place serves finger food mostly, to compliment well with the drinks,” Hikaru said before thinking about what she should eat together with the drink, as well as for Hisako, “Ah, let's see... Oh, nachos supreme sounds good. Two servings for us, please,” she ordered. And while the food was being prepared, Hikaru took a sip of the Electric Lemonade. She shivered; a sign that it was good, but she should take it slow since it was a first time for her to try that one out. Definitely different from the occasional sake that she had before.
“So before we go to the main topic of our blind date, best to tell me more about yourself,” she suggested. The music continued to swell as she waited for Hisako to reply to the request. More saxophone trills, but of different tunes compared to last time. Hikaru adjusted the strap of her bag since the accessory was close to falling down to the floor.
