So utterly defeated. A disclaimer did nothing! And the practicality probably just made it all the more appealing, being that he'd be using a box that had been brought in anyway. She was beaten, but of course she wouldn't go down quietly. "Ah~ But just what's so wrong with sharing a bed with me~?" Because putting it that way was sure to change his mind, right? The feigned pouting wouldn't last for long though, as she wouldn't pass up the opportunity to get in a sly wink with her slight smile. Breaking his will had nothing to do with it after all, even with how much she'd like the various things she pouted over. She had no way of knowing. And neither did he, for that matter. But there seemed to be an underlying similarity there, with an obstinate manner compensating and reconciling for a person that had been taken advantage of too much in the past. So it was never a matter of forcing him to do anything, despite how contrary it might be to her own wishes. Having a say in matters was too comfortable of a feeling to deny to someone else.

Did it count as admonishment if she did it with what was clearly an amused smile? "You should play nice~ But, I don't think he minds anyway." The usually rounded rabbit was indeed looking a little deflated but no worse for the wear. Expression unchanged as he made it back to his tiny feet, with a shake of his fur his body expanded back to its normal shape with a cartoonish popping sound. "Like us, and yet not. The form is remembered, but the matter involved is simplified," she remarked casually, stretching her arms over her head as she did. "The rest hate bathing, so it's easier to reform them than clean them. This one? I can hardly take a bath without him intervening~" It'd been the opposite of what he'd thought, with the rabbit wanting the bath rather than her throwing him in there. All still very lazy and rather irresponsible though, in a practical sort of way.

Some surprise settled into her face as she sat back up. "Oh, I'd intended to fill them out. But, you can if you'd like~" Once she was up and had returned with what he'd wanted, she pushed both the pen and the small cup of iced coffee at him so he could make his own decision. It was a chance to get something for herself at least, continuing to ramble as she cleared the short distance to the kitchen. "Name, nationality, date of birth, place of birth, gender~ Just some simple things to make decisions over." And she'd already helped with what was probably the most tedious one. During the preparations for her own pot of filtered coffee she remembered the other important bit. "And a photo, but we can do that with my phone once you're grown and disguised." Her source was secure enough but she had no intention of taking him just anywhere, especially in his current state. There was already enough to worry about as it was. "Ahaha~ Better to have a birthplace outside of Japan, surely, to avoid some complications." Someone felt more nervous about not reporting a fake birth than all of the other illegal things she was perpetrating. "As for nationality... say~ I don't think I ever asked. Where are you from?" Not that his answer would necessarily make the conclusion any less confusing. The presumed mother already had a lot going on, what with being a naturalized Japanese citizen that was both Egyptian and nonhuman. "Less to think about, if you pick a country with jus soli. Place of birth and nationality, all tied up~" She was looking quite proud as she poured herself a cup of coffee. Laziness ruled the day!

"Ahh...." Yeah, there was no good reason. Other than potentially being cuddled to death in his sleep, or getting flattened if someone was rolling about at night, or falling off the bed if he forgot how high the bed was. "Sorry. Just... really not accustomed to sharing beds with anyone else, for the obvious reasons." He sighed in apology. That major reason could not be applied here, when both were pretty much immune to each other.

So that meant no more rabbit abuse! "Wouldn't be too great for him to be squashed in a box for a whole night." And this time at least he didn't have to worry about getting flattened and pushed into a box. Hopping around on a leg was awful. "I'll go get some padding to line the box with later."

"I don't remember." Even before he'd even realized just what that answer meant, it had already bungled its way out of his mouth. Tying his tongue in a knot would have been so much easier to explain. Hurry, maybe the question was still salvageable! "I mean... Um, I haven't particularly thought about it much, but I just know I got moved around a bit when I was a kid. Probably." The stoic pretty-boy with such an angsty childhood behind that stony face? Surely not anyone's idea of a dream. "I'll put down.... just to be safe." There, settled that in his roundabout way of doing things, a customs officer might end up having to hand the papers back once they figured out that the good doctor's handwriting was worse than illegible, and had certainly not improved since her reading the door sign. And since technically he had a record, putting anything close to what was written there was a far-out no. Best to leave it to oversight and hope for the best, then. Squiggle, squiggle, everything except 'Iroha Irazoki' in the name field were illegible squiggles. Deemed good enough to hand back to her.

Wasting no more time, he pulls the tins out of the box. Tiny size meant an unfortunate decrease in strength, so dragging the tins one by one to the corner was going to take a while. One.... Two.... Three.... Oh yeah, he had completely forgotten his drink. He gave her a quick nod of thanks in return and stacked it on top of the next tin, and resumed moving them.

The lack of the usual excuses seemed to appease his needy sidekick easily enough. Didn't mean that her well-intentioned offers of assistance would stop though, as she cheerfully took a moment to remind him of his status in her life. "No need to minimize your presence in any space of mine~ You've the right to demand things of me, remember." And in the middle of a long sip of coffee, the realization of just how far she'd go to fulfill the meaning of those words became perfectly clear to her. After finishing that swallow of coffee, with a resigned sigh she pulled the cup from her mouth for a moment to reveal a sweetly defeated sort of smile. "Which includes sleeping in a box, I suppose." Compromising over even the strangest of things. She had to laugh at herself some, but... she'd do that much and more, in an effort to try to make him more comfortable.

"Would you be able to sleep with the constant wriggling of rabbit legs underneath?" The little rabbit padded after him anyway, oblivious to any references about using his fluff as cushioning. And for that matter, wasn't a pillow meant to cushion the box? "You needed more than just pillows for your box?" A confused tilt of her head indicated that she didn't quite understand what the end result was meant to be. Other than some sort of makeshift bed.

Ah, another difficult subject where memory had failed him. The most she could do was try to make the best of any pitfall subjects whenever she managed to stumble across one. It was probably impossible to avoid them and too patronizing to try to avoid them in their entirety. "Hnn~ Or maybe... where you ended up, rather than where you're from." Bright-eyed as she nodded, she was eager to express to him that the beginning wasn't necessarily important. And oh no, there was that illegible script again! She was beginning to think that his involvement with the infernal hadn't been completely coincidental, what with the resemblance between his handwriting and glyphs used for summoning purposes. That amusing thought aside, it was time to be gentle in her attempt to help him. "This in itself isn't the documentation to get us out of the country. This is the application for the forged documentation to get us out of the country." Simple enough to get confused, probably, for anyone that hadn't done as many unscrupulous things as she had. So with a kind smile she took up the pen and offered her assistance. "So maybe I should clarify what's written here, to make sure the processor can read it. The name is there, but~ What would you like noted for the rest? Anything you'd like is fine, as long as it's believable." Falsifying the basic information couldn't really be avoided. And she certainly seemed to have her own ideas about what to use to fill in the blanks. "It's not like... it's not like you'd actually have to keep whatever birthday you'd put down, or anything." The sudden nervous pen meeting counter tapping combined with the mention of a specific part of the information was very telling, though there was still a chance that he'd be preoccupied enough to overlook it.

Without thinking she'd tried to abandon her post at the kitchen to go and help him, but... insisting was still something she had to rein herself in on, settling back into her seat and deciding to ask instead. "Did you need help with that?" Nervous pen holding turning into nervous coffee drinking instead, with her having the good fortune of the pen finding its way to the counter in the interim rather than actually falling into the coffee itself. "You'll... you'll ask me if you need any help, right?" She ended up insisting a little anyway, albeit rather cautiously. She still felt she hadn't much right to do so, but between her concern and level of care it ended up happening regardless. Someone cared about him, and maybe between a little luck and some reminders maybe he'd both further accept and remember that.

"Hm?" Did she notice his feet scrabbling against the floor? Or was it because he was a tiny fella trying to push six whole tins? "Oh, no. I can do it myself, don't worry about it." Eh, he could pick up six tins normally, he should be able to still move them around now, right? Logical fallacies aside. "If I can't reach it... Then yeah. Other than that, should be doable. Mostly." There really ought to be a difference between 'being self-sufficient' and 'being too self-sufficient'. It was awfully much so the latter, not like he would care to realize however.

"Um, not really. I thought it might be helpful if I could find padding to substitute as blankets. In case it gets cold, but I can do without as well." Ever the one to make as little intrusions on another's hospitality. "I was hoping Patchy wouldn't wriggle so much, but well..." Guess he was not used to sleeping on a living bed either. Oh wait, before she got any ideas! "Um! It's alright, really. I can stick to a pillow, it's sufficient." In case the rabbit did really end up being stuffed in a box for his comfort. Oh well.

But with the box and tins finally out of the way, back to filling forms! "Um...." Oh dear. Whatever black hole his memory redirected him to, one eye's worth of emptiness was enough to show it clearly. "... Portland? That's the original address of the hospital, but it might be a little too coincidental..." Better than suggesting the other place, he'd get round up even before he could step outside. Place done, now date. Well, looks like he would have to roll dice, since the only date stored in memory was not a good one. Would it be too close? ".... December 21. 1996." he muttered finally, hoping that no one would catch onto the irony. Such a lethal, lethal irony.

As expected, an insistence of resistance. It was simply part of his nature though, much like it was part of hers to try to help him. Leaning her face into one hand, she airily addressed it as she took in more coffee. "Still won't let anyone care for you, will you~" A year of someone's persistent offers to help weren't much in comparison to whatever he'd gone through to have that behavior enforced. She'd know that very well, wouldn't she? Tins of milk weren't quite comparable one's own entrails, but the insistent independence was a close match. Did he look as blank as she did back then? Even with that fragile face of his, she couldn't think so.

Some snickering ended up muffled behind one of her wrists, whether the comments had intended to be humorous or not. It had to be a relief that it wasn't taken as a serious request, right? "I''m sure he'd keep you company in the box. Just not as part of the box." Patches had already set in on inspecting said box, being that it was new and could serve many a purpose to a rabbit. Food? Shelter? Why not both? He was still smaller than the person intent on keeping the box, however, and could likely be shooed away with ease.

A curious look filled her face upon the mention of his choice of places. Not thoughtful. Just very blank. "There, huh." A country she hadn't willingly visited, but. "Easy enough. And believable as any place outside the two, considering~" An amused exasperation took the place of the stark emotionlessness. There was certainly a worn path between those two places that had existed longer than his perceived short lifetime. And on that subject, hmm. He'd said he was twenty-six, right? The year and age given weren't congruent. For her purposes they were all of random numbers and nothing more, though. Wasn't the time or her place to be bothering him about it. The sticking point had to be addressed though, as to leave it would be a glaring error in what would otherwise come off as perfectly executed subterfuge. "You'll still intend to come off as a child, yes? Then, a different year will be necessary..." There she went again, knifing around in a wound she didn't know was there. At least she hadn't actually suggested a year. There seemed to be something on her mind though, as her thoughtful glance towards the paper wouldn't be moved even if she'd paused in writing. "I'm sure your actual birthdate is much nicer." Definitely a strange thing to say, and said for no particular reason either. Whatever it happened to be about that day, whatever the reason he'd said it... it didn't suit him. It just didn't. She printed it out anyway, because her feelings against it had nothing to do with the task at hand. "But for our purposes, this will do." With a nod she looked satisfied with the work they'd done. "Now just for a photo, whenever you're ready."

And waiting for those details was the perfect opportunity to vent her growing anxiety. "Ah, I don't want to pack," she complained into the surface of the counter. Without lifting her head she pawed in the direction of a pack of cigarettes without actually reaching them. "I want to smoke." Some uncertainty cropped up, but she expressed her next thought anyway. "Or cuddle." No harm in saying so if he had no obligation to comply, right? Some more thinking forced that uncertain feeling to ease off, facts of the issue of course being the source of her relief. "How wonderful to not have to go alone, though. And furthermore, with you." A happiness quietly mumbled with greatest delicacy rather than anything brusque. Of which she was quick to scramble away from, red-faced and all. "Were you hungry? I can't say that I am..." Pawing around the counter didn't result in a lighter like she'd hoped. "But I'm asking more for you, so~" Such a flimsy attempt to escape from her feelings again. Oh well.

".... Eheh." Ashamed, dry laughter. Perhaps the closest she might ever get to a display of true amusement. Hoping that was a rhetorical question, then, as he went back to - ah, wild rabbit appeared in his corner! Poor Patches, already so quick in investigating a potential uncomfortable enclosure. Lucky, for all the animal abuse the little doctor had in mind, common sense prevailed. "... Won't fit. Not if I'm going to pass off as a child." And off he goes to try dragging the curious bundle of fluff away from his makeshift bed. No squashings for you, Patches!

"... Ah, right." How could he be so simpleminded again? Forgetting the date? But then what was time to a person who lived by the schedule anyway? For that matter, what was time to a displaced fish in the wrong pond? "A closer year... 2015, then. Close enough?" His mind hit another snag in the memory, clumsily tripping over the manufactured hole. But he was not one to question it. Never have, possibly won't. Bad things came to those who did, he thought. Involuntary shudder. He was happy, however, she didn't question it. Never mind that her own birthday was so close to the anniversary of a mass killing, not like she could help it anyway. Simple coincidence, he should think of it as nothing more. "Do I need just my head for a photo? I don't need feet, do I? It'll help with the recycling, and it wouldn't be so rushed." Plus, the box would make a good pedestal for a immobile bust, right? Reuse and recycle!

Oh right, she had hardly seen him eat anything as much as it was. "Not really. And besides," he looked at the drink she'd prepared for him, still sitting on the tin. "That amount of sugar I'm assuming you put in should be enough to last for a while. Easier than porridge." Yet with that efficient-geared mentality, it was a wonder why he did not just hook himself up to a sugar syrup vat, with zero chances of diabetes. "You did go the last time with me though. Technically." Nope, not understanding that having a responsive companion was different than a non-responsive one! "It's still one eye, anyway. One eye and some material to fill a container." He shrugged.

Elbow against the counter and face pressed into the back of her hand, an admiring smile came forth rather than needy words. He was unlikely to consider himself as brave, but it wouldn't stop her from thinking so. Which made it all the more exasperating that despite that, the result always seemed to be the same regardless. "And who could blame you, really, seeing as where not even letting your guard down has gotten you at times." Did he ever, really? Agreeing to things to placate others, surely, but he didn't necessarily have to let down his guard to do that. And not that she expected her words to have some grand effect upon him, but the words of assurance that followed just came naturally to her. "I'll still do my best to try to be the person you can rely on no matter what, though." Softly spoken and sadly smiled, it was with lingering disappointment that she couldn't promise him any more than that. She was just coming off of what she perceived as 'failing' him, though, so it was a decent improvement already considering. The little rabbit was far more ambivalent about the subject. The biggest concern for him lied in being dragged from his point of interest than anything being discussed. The resulting wriggling was unlikely to make much difference in the end, though.

"This year?" Nevermind that December hadn't happened for 2015 yet. Her mind was getting a little caught up in the finer details of what she was trying to establish. "Then when would--" Yes, just outright ask him when the fictional conception would've been. That would go over great! But even if it'd been a result of the random dalliances of the past year, the present year actually wouldn't be too far off the target time period. "January of this year? December of last year?" Either was usable, but not both. And though there were some problems with what they were trying to accomplish... "Technically more of a baby, then, but ehh~" She couldn't be too bothered about it. "What I am already appears dubious. With a father like mine, more so. As long as it's reasonable, a little discrepancy in size versus age will surely be overlooked." Why invoke the wrath of an assumed monster by questioning the status of her offspring, after all. And even with the monster that she was, the way his question was phrased still seemed unsettling. "Just... just the head is necessary for a passport, yes." That seemed like a event that was likely to happen to her at some point, ending up with all of his head left. While she was more capable than most of handling that grim prospect, it still wasn't something to look forward to by any means.

"Oh~" Probably too crass to outright say that much like her he didn't actually need to eat. As eager as she was to establish many a commonality with him, respecting what remained of his humanity probably wasn't a bad idea. Being cheerful and helpful was still possible in the response she provided, after all. "I'll keep you well fed or supplied, whatever you might need~" And that sunny disposition would show all the more in her response to his observation. "Heh~ Including last year, of course! I'm still happy about that, too." It'd been so embarrassing to ask, but so worth it! And with the coincidental progression that was being made, she couldn't help but make an amused observation over it. "At this rate maybe next year you'll get to go while full-sized." Only to quickly realize that the associated problems would end up growing as well. "Which would bring its own complications, with you likely needing to be disguised~" Though for the most part it was a worry rooted in logic, of course that wouldn't be all that was involved with her concern. "The difficulty level is almost too high. To be assumed to be cheating on you because of the disguise, but anyone that knew anything would know that's an impossibility." And while there was a ridiculous slant to what she said, there was actually some merit to be found within her disquiet. "Ah, the effort itself reveals itself as a lack of truth~" It was unlikely that she could take his usual self anyway, but she seemed to be resigned to that inevitability. "Ah~ For that purpose fragmentary versions of you will have to do, then." Seemed she'd resolved her issue without him having to try to reason with her too much. A bright spot in in his trials of being her guest? Couldn't be!
PostPosted: Tue Jul 21, 2015 5:34 am

"Noooo. Don't eat that." Maybe if he had been a bit bigger, furballs that would not stay still would be less of a problem. Trying to drag away something about his size and unhappy to move away from a new object however, took a lot more effort. Looks like the uncharacteristic strength only was for a larger form. Just a few steps away and he's ran out of breath to continue pulling. Patches won the battle! Oh well. "Thank you. And I can rely on you to be that person, now?" Oooh, finally opening up! Wait till something strikes the both of them in the heart and seal the holes up again.

But she had already given him milk powder, box, a place to hide for a while. "That's okay, I don't need anything else at the moment." Want? Well, those were to be left for the last possible priority. As usual. "I see. You're welcome, then." Won't understand the meaning of going with her, no matter the shape, never. Also as usual. ".... If something doesn't pop up again next year, perhaps. But it can be assumed that it's near to impossible. Even without the hospital staff in the way, yes." Always with the chains, wasn't it? "Besides, I'll never be able to get past the temperature scanner. Certainly not while having to maintain a body heat high enough to fool it." Even if it was made as a flat joke, at least being small he could probably disguise it with a hot water bottle and hope he didn't sweat too much, right? But definitely not as an adult.

"This year is 2015?" For someone so out of touch with time, the surprise had barely registered as anything more than a slight frown. "Oh. Strange." But he left it at that, preferring not to go poke any more holes in his memory, tampered-with or otherwise. "December three years ago. Three years old, then." Climbing onto the box, he looked up. "Do you want the photo now? Since it's just the head, I can probably..." Repurpose the material in his legs and lower torso, and appearance shifted, leaving useless shells lying around. ".... All this hair," came that slightly annoyed mutter, nubs of hands trying to brush the long red mop out of his face for a photo were not as effective as proper hands, clearly. An incomplete art bust, to anyone outside, a sentient and clearly not incomplete one, to her of course.

The victor seemed indifferent to the sudden forfeit, continuing the unceremonious ending of the struggle by resuming follower mode once he'd taken the time to scratch behind an ear. Whether it was a short attention span or a matter of biases at play it seemed that staying by the other's side was more important than taking over his box. A hop here and a hop there and nope, he wouldn't be getting away from the rabbit. And the redhead was of no help, too dazed by having her heartfelt but often overlooked words replied to as he had. Her ears ended up burning at the sudden realization she hadn't put much thought into, but... his words kind of implied it, didn't they? That there'd been others. There'd be no use in asking about any predecessors she may have had, though, so it was a sudden and futile jealousy that was best kept quiet. Besides, there were more important things to assert at him. "O-of course! That's... that's all right, isn't it?" Her entrance into his life certainly hadn't been convenient or even welcome at first. But she was determined to prove it to him, that her presence was worth it. Even if it didn't look so at present, determination swapped out for a more demure face though she hadn't asked much of him. Certainly not what he actually thought about her. Still couldn't do that.

With things as they were, she met his assessment with calm agreement. "Mm. If conditions end up as agreeable again, then we shall. But otherwise..." Who could've guessed that things would've turned out as they had this time around, after all? A year in advance was a complete guess. Eventually she finally abandoned her place at the counter, unable to keep away from him any longer. Patches thought little of her approach. That lady was always around anyway. He could see her any time! Wringing her hands together as she came over, there was a question that persisted that just had to be asked no matter how much she didn't want to voice it. "Will you only have one eye from now on?" With how gently the question was posed and with the one-eyed person that was asking it, it might soften the blow some. Not enough, but she'd find it amiss to not even try.

Didn't know what year it was. Likely was unaware of the passage of time due to his usual schedule as well. Not to mention that whole originated in a time outside of where he was presently thing that seemed to becoming a little more into focus for her. She had to facefault some, even if it'd all been expected of him. And expected of her, picking out exactly the right type of person to get herself into the most trouble. But it didn't matter to her, so why question it? If any problems arose from it, she'd deal with them as they happened instead of maintaining some sort of prolonged worry over it. "But then--" Some protest came up anyway, even if supporting her fanciful illusion wasn't the point of making up a birthdate for him. How could such a child exist if they hadn't met yet, after all? But she was willing to let go on the silly details in favor of keeping him safe. "--Nevermind. That will do! We should turn in the application as soon as possible. I suppose if you didn't want the disguise applied just yet I can instruct them to alter the eye color digitally-- ...!" What was a rather mundane explanation was suddenly cut off as she darted off for a moment. "Here." Upon her return she immediately sat down and set in upon assisting him with his hair problem, smoothing and pinning his hair out of his face as well as pulling the excess back and neatly pinning it together as well. "Black pins and nothing too fancy~ Hair buns are for any gender, of course," she confirmed, feeling accomplished with what she'd done. Maybe he'd complain if she'd given him a double bun but just one would be acceptable, right?
PostPosted: Wed Jul 22, 2015 7:26 pm

"Yes, it is." Not going to even bother wriggling around while she did his hair, or complain at the style, or anything? Huh. Oh, hang on. "D-Did I say it wasn't? Sorry. But you really don't need my permission for that." And now trying to pick apart the entries in 'Recently Said' to see if he in fact did. Even if there was, not like he would realise. Yet it still was a strange thing to ask permission about, for this little kettle.

As much as he would hate to get anything in his eye, it was inevitable, wasn't it? But as usual, trying to avoid it till the most urgent and compulsory moment. "If it isn't too much trouble, can it be done digitally for now? Will it get through?" No, even if she was the queen of the world herself, he'd still worry about things like that.

The singular eye that was staring at the lump of fluff following him widened momentarily in shock at her innocent question, then dragged itself around to point at the floor. A few seconds of silence was her response, followed by him gingerly covering that eye. ".... I cannot see a thing." The hand could cover half of the reddening from the bottled up rage crashing around behind the shell that was his face, it was a consolation at least.

Ah, something was leaking. Dripping down his hand with hardly anything stopping it. How... Hmm, what was the word? A delayed natural reaction. He should keep it, then pour it all in the sink later. But he should stop the water. Stop. Stop! His sleeves were getting wet, everything was getting harder to see, socket and lid cracking and crumbling from the rubbing that was his attempt to staunch it.

One puzzled eye met another in mutual but unshared confusion. The incredulous pivot of her head looked to almost have proclamation to match, but her mouth pressed shut as quickly as it had opened. Turning her blind side away from him, she fixed her line of vision upon the floor. "You've a say in who you let into your life." Solemn words said honestly, even if the person that'd said them was well aware of her own deliberate efforts to push her way in regardless. Of which there were no regrets, but guilt? Maybe a little, if the way she shifted in her seat upon the floor and bit at her lip was any indication. Taking a deliberate breath her focus returned to him once more, a barely adequate amount of courage lifting her silence. "But if my presence is welcome, then--"

Her unstated motives instantly lost their importance before they'd even been voiced, eyes wide and starkly blank as she was immediately caught up in what had unfolded before her so quickly. The usual precautions were utterly discarded, all thoughts becoming a blur as she simply reacted. Hold him close with one hand. Cradle the back of his head with the other. Hide that tortured face against the lapel of her jacket, because she couldn't manage any more than that. The ache to try to hide him away from everything persisted all the more, impossible and irresponsible as it was. But it would make things worse, which was the opposite of what she'd wanted. Even maintaining their individual levels of atrocities made into everyday life would be acceptable as long as they could still find the time to seek solace in each other. Her frustration at lacking the ability for decisive action manifested itself the subtle trembling of taut muscles. After a time that tension let up with a helpless sigh. "I'm sorry," was all that was said, her voice crestfallen and hushed. Nothing more. Any words of comfort would fall staggeringly and almost insultingly short. It wouldn't be all right and it wouldn't get better. With a heavy feeling of desolation setting in she resigned herself to being unable to fix any of it for him. But coping was another thing entirely, and she had every intention of doing her best to keep him from sinking too deeply into the ensuing gloom that was an inevitability.

And nope, the dam broke. Full out crying, so unlike the usually stoic him. But instead of a little kid sobbing with eyes squeezed shut and tears running down, his was a strangled wail, like a parrot mimicking the act of crying. Pitiful, someone who had locked himself away so long he had forgotten how to cry, and had to have his own sadness pry itself out of his fearful hands before anyone could even see it.

But not unintended. The concept was the same then. Something bad happened, he spent a night or two crying with someone. The rest of the cycle with her had yet to be seen, but who knew if he was hoping it did not turn into an eternal game of cat and mouse?

Oh, the waterworks stopped. Funny enough, he did not cry his own material, so all she had to clean up was the water. A ton of water in fact. How did one tiny tear duct make all of that again? However it did so, it must have used quite a lot of energy, with the lethargy finally creeping up on him again. Oh, remember his place. Right. But maybe, just lie here for a while, it's comforting. Emptily comforting. He should quit.

".... S-Sorry. I just..." Nah, don't bother trying to justify that. ".... No, t-thank you. Thank you. I'm s-sorry." Even with hiccups and stutter! No need to wriggle now, just lie still. "It's really q-quiet in here, n-nothing special. That's a-all. N-N-Not used t-to it yet." Spluttering those words out hardly made him feel any better about it though. He should get over it soon enough. They were all dead from the start anyway, he shouldn't have hung onto them for so long. Made things a little harder to let go, now he learnt.

So he should box that little bit up and put it away as soon as he can, right. She did say that - oh. Remember the anger in the first place, at the incident she walked into that was entirely staged. The whole thing was a stage and they all had been played.

Eyes widening as her ears took in the peculiar sound, the sleepy sense of relief returned to her face soon after the realization that he'd finally unbottled some of that sorrow sunk in. And that her sudden actions hadn't made things worse despite her intentions. It was even simple to ignore the fact that she was awash in tears and cold if there was a chance he'd feel even a little better. She didn't have to shy away from his illness nor was there the issue of body temperature. Neither of them would benefit from a thorough illusion of normalcy, but perhaps the faint but durable one resulting from her eccentricities as a nonhuman could at least provide them a considerable amount of peace.

And while he seemed to be letting go of some of his reservations, there was an understandable reluctance there that she felt a need to acknowledge. "Sorry? Don't be," she soothed, petting lightly at the back of his head. Her eyes made a slow and curious sweep over the room, even if she wasn't sure just what 'quiet' he'd spoken of. "Is it?" There was no reason to demand an explanation, but it was important to her to let him know that he'd been heard and his words would continue to be held as important. She smiled lightly at him anyway, as an assurance that it'd be all right whether he wanted to elaborate or not.

An idea was beginning to clot itself together within her mind as she observed what she interpreted as an advanced state of exhaustion present in the man's tiny form. And while there was hesitance involved with expressing it, it was only as a result of not wishing to inflict any guilt upon him as a result. With a short and decided breath, she finally came out with it. "Would you rather stay here and rest instead? Distraction can help well enough, but only to a point." But lest he think he was messing up her plans, she spoke quickly to the contrary. "I don't mind. Not at all. To be honest, it... it wouldn't be the first time I hadn't made it there." Her assuring smile became sheepish, even if quite a few of those times hadn't been her fault. Disasters, war, and abduction apparently weren't enough when it came to her feelings of guilt, however. Though with a shrug she chose to put more effort into keeping him away from any similar feelings. "And there are still plenty of things we can do to distract ourselves here, and~" Before she got too caught up in her own ideas, with a happy sigh she revealed the source of her reasoning. "He'd be happy, that man who saved me, that I didn't forget what's really important in favor of merely tradition." And that little bundle that was presently pressed against her? Definitely important.

Letting her cancel her trip simply because he was a sobbing wreck? How about..."No! No. Really. I..." Sniffling and throwing his hands up. "I-I think it would be b-better. Yes." Dropping his hands back onto his lap, he sighed, speech interspersed with the shudders and half-baked hiccups. "A-And, even if it's troublesome and we m-might not get through without t-trouble, I...." A quick glance at her window. No, it should not be too quick, but the staff were not known for any form of tardiness, neither were the officers. "... It's s-safer. I don't want them to end up h-here." After all the times she had tried hammering into him that he was not a burden, the thought still lingered, echoing around in the silence that was noisy just a day ago. The proper recovery should be rest, yes. But rest and peace and quiet now only served as a very grim reminder that there was no rest when it came to that, and there was not supposed to be any noise in the first place to have quiet. ".... I'll go. I-It's okay. I think I'll g-go."

But dare he say it? Out loud, nope. Tongue-tied, and perhaps maybe still in denial. So a simple "Yes." had to be his answer. "It's really quiet. And I can't see anything if I c-cover this." Don't cover it again then! Oh no, he was not covering it, he was squishing his eye inwards again. No, no, don't do that.

Pulling his tired little self to his feet, he finally started dragging himself to the washroom. "I'll go g-get a towel. Sorry."

Her placid expression remained unchanged as she continued to look over him while petting at his hair some. "If that's what you think is best. I want to help you, after all." Which was likely to come at her own expense if need be, but not always. She'd still be doing as she liked, after all. For the issue at hand it'd be more of a matter of altering the path than changing the destination. There was definitely some grim amusement to be found in the underlying message she pieced together from what he'd said, though. "Chased even if we aren't exactly running. Heh." But ultimately her ego intervened before he could feel any more guilty about the situation. "I shan't be bothered, and... and I won't stop trying to prevent you from befalling any further harm." A shaky sort of determination flickered across her face, sight focused away from him for a moment as the mechanisms in her false eye visibly spun some. It was a poor excuse for a promise, but it'd have to do. How frustrating, that any more was probably just not possible. She wasn't totally discouraged though, piping up with an assurance that they weren't necessarily alone. "Even so. If trouble comes after us, we might end up surprised with who's willing to intervene on behalf of a cute little lady and what's assumed to be her cute little child~" Alone, they were fairly cute. Together and padded with extra cuteness? The levels of adorable were bound to disarm the unsuspecting public, with the added possibility of them coming to their assistance if need be.

Returning to looking him over and puzzling over his mysterious statement, her words continued to circle around the unknown subject without actually touching upon it. "Is that something you're unused to? I mean. Rather than anything good, or bad." For some things, she remained adamant in trying to fix and help however she could. But at times even offering suggestions was lacking in tact, and the perceived problem seemed to be one of those occasions. Limited vision was something deeply personal to her, however, and there was no resisting lightly tracing her finger across his face and under said eye. "It doesn't hurt, does it?" He hadn't made any mention of it, but there was audible concern in her voice anyway.

It seemed best to let him scramble away to have his way, even if he was again being unnecessarily apologetic about it. But it was never a point of contention for her, as already there was plenty of evidence of just why his personality had ended up the way it was. It was an excuse to struggle out of her wet and likely somewhat icy at that point jacket, anyway, and she tossed it to the side once she'd done so. Only to find that the shirt she'd worn underneath had gone rather transparent due to being doused with tears. Of all the days to have worn some white with all of the black she usually wore. She could only really be bothered to sigh indifferently over it, with the expectation that it was likely to go unnoticed. That aside her hands were free to support her frame, wrists landing slightly behind her with a dull splat as she seemed disinclined to move to any place more dry. Leaning in upon herself she'd continue to wait for him just where he'd left her.
