"Yeah, I'm okay with it," Esther said with a smile and a nod, looking between C.T. and Kat. "More than okay with it, really. Now you're mom can teach me all kinds of authentic Russian dishes." Her face lit up at the thought.

"Ooh! I want to learn how to make Russian food, too!" Mag interjected as she approached the small group. Jennie appeared beside her, smiling and watching Mag with amusement. "So," Mag said, "I don't think a position at the recreation center is the best fit for me. But Jennie and I are interested in moving in that direction, too. Is there, like, a clinic in that area?"

Kat considered for a moment, then nodded. "Yeah, I think so," she said. "It's a community health facility. And there's a hospital just outside of Palm, too."

Not that Esther minded being a housewife, but she was beginning to consider possibilities for where she could begin working. She would do some exploring, maybe, when they returned to Palm. Or perhaps she would follow Mag to some kind of health facility. "I'll investigate with you, Mag," she spoke up.

Mag beamed and nodded. Wrapping an arm around C.T.'s shoulders, she said excitedly, "Ooh--if we live near each other, we can have Sunday family dinners together!"

"If you learn how to cook as well as my mother, I might just be forced to keep you." C.T. joked, thinking back to the many dishes that her mother had prepared for them, the woman could work magic in the kitchen and C.T. wasn't completely sure that her mother was hiding some sort of magical cooking ability from her. That was really the only way that C.T. could ever hope to explain how her mother was able to force so much flavor into her food.

Part of C.T. was a little sad when Mag said that a spot at the rec. might not be for her, but that sadness lessened when she continued onto say that she and Jennie planned on moving into the area, so at least they would still be close. C.T. would never admit it but losing proximity to her first and closest friend would hurt her deeply. But she had to admit that a job at a clinic would suit her better, C.T. wasn't too sure about Esther, but then again she supposed she couldn't just assume the girl was going to be ok with letting C.T. work to support them. Esther had yet to even hint at being the type of girl to be a stay at home wife.

C.T. wondered how their relationship would ship once they were both married and working. Or if only she was working, or if somehow she became the housewife and Esther was working. In none of the scenarios she imagined did she seem unhappy. So there was that.

Things seemed to truly be looking up for her, she'd not only get to be closer to her blood family, but her adopted one as well, and she'd get to live happily ever after with the woman she loved, what else could she ask for? "I think the best part of this deal yet, is that I won't have to see Mag until Sundays." C.T. mused to herself.

Esther smacked C.T. on the arm and shot her a look that said, Don't lie to yourself. We both know you're going to want to see her more often than that. And it wasn't like C.T. would have a choice, anyway, as Mag was already demonstrating.

"Just Sundays?" Mag repeated, left brow quirking. "Of course not! Connie, we're going to see each other almost every day of the week, I'm sure. After years of living together, it would be weird not to."

Jennie seemed about as thrilled by this promise (or threat, as Esther suspected her fiance would refer to it) as Esther was. "But Mag, dear," she said, tugging on Mag's arm and pouting cutely. "What about me? When will you have time to spend with me?"

Mag grinned and nuzzled her girlfriend's nose. "Of course, sweetie, I'll always make time for you," she said. Glancing at C.T., she continued, "But as Connie's best man--"

"Wait, what?" Kat interrupted, appearing a little annoyed. "I'm going to be Connie's best man?" How dare Mag just assume she was going to be Connie's best man! Granted, Kat was also making some assumptions... But damn, wouldn't Mag be heartbroken when Connie chose her sister of her friend. Kat would have grinned if she wasn't currently on the offensive.

Meanwhile, Esther in the background pumped her fist into the air and chanted quietly, "Fight, fight, fight."

If C.T. had known that there would be a fight for who would be able to be her best man, she might have kept the little known fact of her and Esther's engagement go by the wayside. "How about we let Esther be the husband, and I'll just have you two be bridesmaids." C.T. offered.

"Maid of honor."

Kat shot that down instantly and C.T. nodded her head to the side. "Oh yea, that is a thing isn't it." C.T. said having completely forgotten about that little bit of info. "Hm." C.T. said, as if she were still thinking about the maid of honor thing when she was really trying to think of a way out of this predicament.

Esther chanting in the background wasn't helping at all. C.T. shot her a look before sighing. "Soo..... Esther doesn't have a maid of honor...." C.T. started trying to pass some of the heat off to her wife.

                  Wait, what? Oh... dammit.

It was like a scene from a horror movie: as soon as C.T. mentioned that Esther didn't have a Maid of Honor, Mag and Kat turned their heads slowly to look at her. Like demons sizing up their prey. Esther tensed. But before Mag or Kat could claim the role--although both were, understandably, a bit more attached to being in C.T.'s bridal party given their relationships to her--Kia stepped in and hooked her arm through Esther's.

"Sure she does," Kia said proudly with a grin, clearly implying that she was now Esther's Maid of Honor.

"A-Alright, look," Esther started. With great struggle, Esther managed to tug her arm free from Kia's grasp. "How about this. Since, as I'm sure we can all agree, there's nothing really traditional about my relationship to C.T., let's have an untraditional bridal party. We'll just have a group of 'special people' who are important to both of us. No Best Men, no Maids of Honor. Okay? Everyone wins." Esther sighed. She was pretty sure that C.T. felt similarly about how the wedding should be--small and low-key--and Mag and C.T.'s sisters were pushing the boundary of those words' definitions.

C.T. was thinking about slipping away while all eyes were on Esther no one would even notice her if she were to just randomly disappear would they?

But Kia forced her to stick around by throwing herself into the fray and making the whole scene one that C.T. couldn't just ignore because it had the potential to become very funny.

But things calmed down rather quickly when Esther suggested that they not go with such traditional wedding roles so that everyone could be happy. Honestly C.T. would have thought of something like that herself if she didn't think that her idea would be ignored by either Mag or Kat. "Yes, Esther! That is a great idea, you two can both be my 'special guest' and everyone can be happy."

"Sounds like a cop out to me." Kat said directed at C.T. who shrugged. "It might be, but even if it is, it's no more of a cop out than calling our little bout a draw." C.T. commented offhandedly. "What was that?" Mag asked interested, "Nothing, it was nothing." Kat cut her off.

                  "Ooooh, burn!" Kia hissed, grinning.

Mag didn't like being out of the loop, but she let it go for now. Besides, there were more pressing matters to attend to. Like... "So, if no one's the Maid of Honor or Best Man," she started, frowning slightly, "who's going to throw the bachelorette parties?"

Oh, geez, Esther hadn't even thought about pre-wedding parties. They were, admittedly, fun to attend. But they were also kind of pointless. "We could probably forgo those," she said, glancing at C.T. to see if she agreed.

"What?" Mag pouted, clearly disappointed. "But that's one of the best parts!" Jennie rubbed her girlfriend's back sympathetically, and Mag shook her head as if Esther and C.T. had let her down. "I'll definitely be trying to persuade you to my side on that one," Mag said--and thought maybe, just maybe, she would have to try a surprise party approach. (And maybe, as in very possibly, C.T. would kill her if she did. Hmm. Was her life worth throwing her best friend a bachelorette party?) "When are you guys having the wedding, anyway? Where? What kind of food are you going to have? Color scheme?"

"Jesus, Mag, I only proposed to her the other day," Esther grumbled, shifting uncomfortably.

"Relax, darling," Jennie laughed, squeezing Mag's shoulder.

Meanwhile, Sandy walked over to Kat. "Hey, I was wondering, when's this move going to happen, anyway?"

"We don't have to forgo the parties..." C.T. commented, smiling slightly at how excited Mag seemed to get at C.T. saying that. "The last party we had was kind of fun anyway." C.T. said with a shrug. It would be nice to see everyone together having fun again, even if she knew that Mag wouldn't probably make the bachorlette party more than just a night of innocent fun, but still she didn't mind. "See Esther, no big deal right?" Mag grinned. It was probably a bigger deal than Mag was making it out to be, but C.T. would ignore that thought for now. In favor of listening to Sandy and Kat's conversation.

"That's flexible," Kat said easily. "No rush really, now that we know how many we have, I can prepare spots and they will be open when you guys come around." Kat said nodding, before adding a bit more. "But of course, can't wait too long."

Esther's jaw dropped. C.T. was actually on board with the party idea? She wrinkled her nose, unable to make sense of the situation. "Fine, whatever," she grumbled. "But no strippers, Mag. Got it?" Even if C.T. claimed she was "Esthersexual," Esther didn't want other girls throwing their... stuff... in C.T.'s face. They would almost definitely end up with a few bruises in the shapes of Esther's fists. But otherwise, this could be a fun thing, she tried to tell herself. Mag wouldn't make too big a deal out of it, right? ...Right?

Sandy nodded in understanding. She smiled her usual, lazy smile. "I'm excited... I think," she admitted. "I haven't been outside of the warehouse or these slums much since I got here years ago. It's going to be a big adjustment, though."

"Please, like I would ever allow any strippers anywhere near my best friend." Mag defended, crossing her arms. "Besides C.T. gets all stiff when strangers touch her, wouldn't want her hurting any of these girls feelings." Mag added, poking at C.T. with her elbow. Connie swatted the girls arm away. "It's a shame that the only reason you aren't going to hire strippers is because I'm "stiff" and not because I have a fiance." C.T. said giving Mag a look. "Well to be fair, I wouldn't expect you too do anything dishonest, besides I would hire male strippers, most of us aren't gay Connie, some woman like something with a bit more girth." Connie blanched.

"A-anyway.... I can't wait for my mother and the rest of my family to meet all of you." C.T. coughed, turning her attention to Sandy and the others. "It will be a bit weird getting used to being outside, but I promise everyone is going to be very accepting of you. My family has lived in palm for years, and never had they ever had to deal with any prejudice." Connie assured those who may be a little nervous.

"I also think it's worth noting that my mother is planning a dinner for us when we return. And all of you are invited if you choose to tag along a bit sooner."

Kat just had to mention free food.

Sandy wasn't one to pass up free food. "I'll definitely be there," she said, smiling. She was referring mostly to the dinner, but Palm sounded like the perfect place, and Sandy was looking forward to moving there. Hopefully, Elliot would join her. She wasn't sure what she would do if he didn't. "I'm going to get started on packing." With that, Sandy headed back to her room.

Meanwhile, Esther still felt ill from Mag's comment. It had left some images in her brain that were just not appreciated, and she was about ready to scrub her eyes out with soap. Or maybe vinegar. Or ******** it, why not bleach?

"Speaking of food," Mag chimed in, "I've got dinner more or less ready for everyone. I figured you guys would want to rest after your long trip. Tomorrow, we can work the whole moving situation out. Sound okay?" There would be a lot involved, Mag guessed. Transportation had the potential to be a big issue. But Mag was confident everything would work out as it was supposed to.

"Wonder what that says about your food Mag, that all Kat had to do was mention food to get Sandy running." C.T. teased a bit. Mag humphed at that, not thinking the joke was as funny as C.T. did. "I can cook just fine thank you very much." Mag scoffed turning her head. "Not like my mother." Kia argued, realizing the mistake she made by talking a little too late, as Mag glared at her.

"First you insult me by preying on my woman," Mag said stepping towards Kia, who took a step back gulping loudly. "And then you insult, my cooking." Mag continued taking another step forward. "Calm down Mag, to be fair my mothers cooking is better." C.T. said, "But I'm sure she'll be willing to help you improve." C.T. said ignoring the look that Mag was giving her. "Anyway, you are right about one thing, I am a bit hungry after the trip, we should go eat."

"We should eat," Mag repeated, gesturing to herself, Jennie, Esther, and Kat. "However, you, Connie, and your sister are hereby banned from my kitchen. If my food isn't good enough for you, I won't make you eat it."

Kia paled and gaped, suddenly wondering if advocating for her mother's cooking was worth not eating for a few days. Surely Mag was just joking, right? Well, if she was, she was a damn good actress; she looked completely serious. "B-But, but..." Kia stuttered. The wrinkled her nose and pointed to Esther. "Esther's practically obsessed with my mom's cooking!" she exclaimed. If she wasn't being fed during her time here, she would make sure to drag as many people down with her as she could.

Mag turned on Esther, left brow cocked. "Is that so, Esther?"

The accused blonde shifted uncomfortably, eyes widened with mild surprise at being called out. She cared about Mag--but, more importantly, she knew there was no way she would survive even twenty-four hours without food, much less a few days. But at the same time, she couldn't just betray her future mother-in-law, could she? "I, uh, love both your cooking and Katja's equally?" she tried timidly.

Mag humphed. "Not good enough. It's all or nothing, Esther." With that, Mag stormed off toward the kitchen.

Jennie watched the scene play out with a mixture of amusement and a smidgen of alarm. "I'll talk to her," she said, although she was sure Mag was only joking around. Well, she was pretty sure, anyway.

Esther shoved Kia. "Thanks," she said flatly, heading off toward the kitchen. Kia snickered and followed after her.

"How are you going to ban me from my kitchen," C.T. challenged as they moved into the cafeteria, Mag didn't answer her only humphed. C.T. sniggered to herself before saying to herself a bit loudly. "Really not painting yourself as best man material." C.T. said and Mag turned on her "Oh yea? I'll show you best friend material!" Mag said before storming off behind the counter.

"Is she going to poison our food?" Kia asked a bit nervously.

"No, knowing her, she's going try and impress us with this meal, to shut us up about our mother's cooking." C.T. said, taking a seat at the counter and resting her elbow's on the counter. "She's kind of scary." Kia commented, more to herself than to anyone else. "Never heard that said about her," C.T. said with a laugh.

That's when Mag came out with food for everyone, minus C.T. placing plates in front of everyone. From there she sat across the counter right in front of C.T. and stared Connie directly in her eyes. C.T. held Mag's gaze unwaveringly. "So that's how you feel huh?"

"Yea, that's how I feel."

"Ok"

Esther watched with caution the interactions between C.T. and Mag as she sat down beside C.T. at the counter. When Mag more or less declared C.T. wouldn't be receiving any food, Esther waited until the woman looked away before slowly sliding her plate toward her fiance. Mag noticed pretty quickly, though, and smacked her hand down on the counter to get Esther's attention. Esther jumped.

                  "M-Mag--"

                  "Nope."

                  "But..."

Mag shook her head. "You can either eat it on your own, or not have any at all."

Ugh. Esther found herself conflicted between her grumbling stomach and her love for C.T. Ultimately, though, she knew she would feel guilty eating if C.T. didn't get any food. The meal would have no flavor, and what was the point if there was no flavor? So, with a heavy sigh, Esther shoved the plate away from her and placed her arms on the counter to bury her face in them. "Goddammit, Connie," she grumbled. "You just couldn't keep your mouth shut."

Jennie knew Mag was doing all of this mostly in jest, but she couldn't help thinking maybe, just maybe, there was more to this than her girlfriend was letting on. Making eye contact with C.T., she nodded pointedly at Mag, trying to tell Connie she should consider making up with Mag sooner rather than later.
