After completing the Monkey hand seal, he moved onto the Hare. Though at first seeming to be a quite difficult hand seal, after careful consideration and examination Shikakuya found that there was a little trick he could use to perform the hand seal more easily. For he noticed that the left hand actually looked a great deal like a finger rocket, that little kids used to fire off rubber bands. So he made that same shape with his left hand, such that his thumb was cocked back, his index pointed forward and the rest simply curled against his palm as he held his hand perpendicular to the ground. Then he simply looked the pinky of his right hand around the thumb, let the other hide behind his wrist and voila he was done. The mental chime only served to reinforce his latest success.

He was on a little bit of winning streak after his string of failures but as always, good things don't last long. He relapsed on his attempt of the Dragon seal. It was the first seal that required any intense intertwining or bending of his fingers since the incident, and it seemed he still wasn't ready to do anything so strenuous with his sore fingers. Being stuck in that tangle for so long had made his finger and joints quite sore, and as such he should have taken it easy for a little longer. But as always he was rushing into things, and only ended up postponing his completion of this exercise. It was enough to make even him sigh at his own stupidity as he sat back and took a breather. Obviously he need to stop, not to rest (he had no time for rest) but just let the pain wear off before he continued. Hopefully in the next attempt he could conquer his fragility.

The grass beneath the child’s hands was cool, thick and soft; providing the perfect padding for the soft, tender palms of the young girl. This was one of the many joys of spring. Everything was young and in bloom. Grass was growing in lush and green, drinking in the rays of the sun and attempting to run free and wildly out of control. All of the trees were putting on their spring caps of delicate green, dancing in the warm breeze and singing just one of the many songs of the season. Migratory birds were returning and their tweets and chirps were filling the air with symphony. Where there were beds, various colored blooms were starting to show their colors; teasing the eyes with the eventual magnificence that would someday unfold. Amaya always had a deep appreciation for natural and all it encompassed. With her young imagination springing forth on its own and stretching past its original capacity she swore that the world around her was talking to her. The trees told her stories and passed on their wisdom for her benefit; the babbling brooks and roaring streams were instead teaching her about the ways of the word and reciting song that had been writing before the time of man. Then again, it was simply her imagination wanting to believe that she could hear, see, and sense more than others could because every now and then she wanted to feel special.

Taking in the refreshing breeze and inhaling the rich scent of the soil that emboldened the grass sprigs, Amaya thought back to the days before she was so shy. The days when her mother would take her outside and force her to roll around in the mud and, after a coaxing or two, the child would eventually dive in head first. It hadn’t been until recent years that the girl started pulling back into herself, but that was for reasons that she would never admit to anyone; not even her beloved parents. With a slight sigh, the girl inhaled as she slowly lowered herself towards the ground, hovering just over it but never actually coming in contact. After all, according to her goal she wasn’t allowed to touch the ground until she finished her task. With a sharp, but quiet, exhale, Amaya pushed herself to the full extent of her arms and locked into the top most position in order to resume her “resting” pose. The small girl was incredibly happy with the progress she had been making and the physical exertion actually felt revitalizing. She had been working herself so hard mentally that she hadn’t realized that she needed a break and that she needed to burn off some built up energy. Sure, she had toyed with her physical energy while she was practicing molding chakra, but that seemed like forever ago. So much had happened that day, it truly seemed like a lifetime ago since the day begun. The child had sat through a number of lessons and struggled through even more exercises. She had met some new people, made a couple of friends, and stood witness to some appalling interaction with higher ups. The child had breathlessly taken her first steps into the realm of the shinobi and had immediately been torn from her roots and thrust into the foreign land. Had any of her classmates felt that way?

After he took his little breather, a short time sufficient to only allow him to catch his breathe and let his fingers stop throbbing, he got back to work. The current seal on his plate. the Dragon , was neither too easy or too hard. It simply required motions a bit too intensive for his current level of finger fitness, so he was forced to quicken his pace. Not so much that he'd fumble the ball again but he'd have to move fast enough that fingers had little time to complain and thus distract him from his task. He started by intertwining his fingers, sliding them along side one another and then curling them inward until tips of each finger were kissing the tips of that same finger on the other hand. He then swiftly extended his thumbs and pinkies while rotating his hands so that they were perpendicular to the ground. As he felt the chakra resonant to signal that he'd done it right, he quickly released the seal to quiet the screaming pain in his joints.

Smiling broadly, and with much more energy then before Pakku brought his hands together and perform the required seals before pressing his hands to the cloak. Completely focused Pakku didn't even flinch as it slowly changed and then match the area behind his legs. Even as he watched it happen he could barely believe that his legs were still there.

Sakura, listening to the sensei's words of farewell, had to acknowledge the fact that the war was really taking a toll on the staff, if they were having to pull even their own Chūnin sensei out from the Academy. Giving him a long wave before he disappeared, she then turned back to the different cloaks that she had brought with her, staring at the different patterns and holding them up. Scrutinizing one of them, she figured she had nothing else better to do, since her partner seemed to have gone away somewhere while she had brought the cloaks. Tossing the rest of them on a nearby bench, she figured she'd practice it first before he got here. Who knew, maybe she could fool him so that he couldn't tell where she was.

Picking up one with a wooden pattern, she held it up to the tree, trying to see which one it fit the best between the trees that littered the place. Finding a similar one, she gathered the cloth and eyed it closely, then went behind it, focusing a little chakra into the ends of the sheets, blurring the edges of the cloaks into the background as well as she could. She couldn't really tell if it had worked or not, but she had a pretty good feeling about it. Keeping it up, she held up the jutsu a little more, liking the safe feeling of staying hidden.

10 + 1 = 11 Fail :/

The silence was just too funny after the commotion that had ensued after all this hectic action in the mornings, though it felt like such a long time since everything had happened. Taking down the cloth, she took it to another tree and found another tree that seemed to work for the pattern, which she promptly tried the jutsu on again, with the same cloth that she had used before. However, when looking at her attempt, something felt wrong. She looked at the cloth and huffed. She had been holding it the wrong way, making the lines go sideways instead of horizontal, like she should have done. Wincing at her slight mistake, she immediately dropped the cloak and set it down, looking at the tree trunk again, this way in the correct direction. She would have gotten it right if it hadn't been for her slight mistake in the formation of the cloth, she thought.

Sitting on the bench and picking out another interesting print of a tree while sifting through the others, she took the two prints and stood up again, wondering where her partner was, when she saw him coming from over yonder. Waving to him, she pointed at the pile of cloths, signaling to him that she already had his pile, neatly folded up, unlike hers which she had in a picnic-like array, to see the different patterns. Now they could finally start in earnest, since Shiro had probably already known how to do this.

She didn't forget to give him a word of advice before handing him the stack of cloaks though. "You've probably already done all this before, so I won't bother you much. Just remember to hold the cloaks up in the right direction though!" she told him, laughingly. "That would really have to be embarrassing for someone to find you in that position, ne?"

11 - 1 = 10 Failure

The young Keiji noted that Sakura and Shiro had come out to do their exercises too. It was odd to see some of the more advanced students out doing this exercise. Hadn’t they already completed it like they had many of the other exercises? No matter, it could just be for extra practice. That was something Amaya could imagine herself doing. Sitting at the dinner table? Chakra molding. Wrestling with her father? Taijutsu. Being lectured by her mother? Handseals (behind the back, of course). Couldn’t sleep? Target practice. Amaya was certain that she would find some way to let the shinobi lifestyle infect and take over her day to day routines. Plus, it was a splendid way to force herself to improve constantly. The young girl thought of all the ways she could incorporate her training into her scheduled routine, though some things were trickier than others. Maybe she could practice her orator abilities with her brothers when they got older. After all, there was the chance that she was going to end up in charge of some group or another someday and it would be no use for her to be quiet and timid when she was in a position of authority. That is, if she ever rose up to a position of authority.

Finally growing bored of her plank position, though it had only been one or two seconds since she had risen back up from the ground, the black haired girl decided to give it another go. This child inhaled as she lowered herself and exhaled as she shot back up, but she paused for a moment, pondering once she was back up in a locked position. Had she gone down to that ninety degree angle that she had been so intently focused on? Had she allowed her attention to drift so far that she had completed a pushup that actually wasn’t as beneficial as the other ones were? Curse her and her wayward mind. The child concluded that, while she hadn’t had an issue going down and lifting herself back up, this one couldn’t possibly count towards her ten pushup goal. After all, if she was going to be a fine shinobi she couldn’t allow herself to be content just going through the motions. No, perfection was a requirement that would someday make her something spectacular. It was an odd transition that the young girl was going through. She had entered the Academy that morning with absolutely no goals, no intentions, no expectations so that she could get the clearest image of herself possible. Now all she could see was a thriving career, doing something that she loved every day, and being the most incredible shinobi that she could possibly make herself into. The blinding grandeur of a child’s dreams was a marvelous thing, but the young girl was also brought into darkness by her visions. While the young girl understood the strenuous hard work that would have to happen in order to her to make this dream a reality, she had yet to comprehend the pain, destruction, and bloodshed that also walked in the shadow of the shinobi. It wasn’t a matter of “if” for them but a matter of “when”.

Pakku was completely focused on his task, now that he had been reassured that he could do it. With plenty of Chakra left he could easily push the whole way through, just as long as he didn't waste too much of it that is. So with his goal of finishing quickly set he removed his hands from the cloak and gathered his chakra before performing the seal. Returning his hands to the cloak he watched as it slowly began to change. As it changed however it began to shimmer, so Pakku responded by using more chakra. He let out a sigh of relief as it returned to normal and he could once again not see his legs.

As Shiro walked outside he was quickly greeted by Sakurayuki, who from the looks of it had begun her practice of the jutsu.

"You've probably already done all this before, so I won't bother you much. Just remember to hold the cloaks up in the right direction though! That would really have to be embarrassing for someone to find you in that position, ne?"

"Ano, koto ga nai. he admitted" [um, I don't have the experience]
"Kakuremino no jutsu wa saigo-jutsu o shirenakucha." he explained. [Kakuremino no Jutsu is the last jutsu that I need to know (to graduate)]

After that short exchange he moved over to the bench and searched through the cloths one by one as he examined their patterns. He then examined the environment to get a feel for which ones he was going to use. With the closest piece of environment nearby being a tree Shiro picked out one of the bark camouflage cloths. Shiro stood in front of the tree and curved the cloth so that it matched the gently cylinder of the trunk. Finally he released his chakra into the cloth to enhance the edges so that they didn't appear as sharp.

"Yuki-chan, dou desu ka." [Yuki-chan, how's that?]

Takami put his hands behind his back, getting up quickly, bouncing on his toes to warm up his heels and ankles. "Wow, I never knew how much I loved running," he told himself, deciding to add it to his morning routine. Well actually deciding to make a morning routine. The boy made his way towards the track, swinging arms around in circles, then stretching out his forearm in front of his chest, switching arms, and doing a few more stretches before he started, ending with grabbing his foot and stretching his leg behind his back. He could feel the blood flowing through his body, and knew he was ready to start. The boy made his way over to his starting point, the breeze dying down as the sun was shading by the ever moving clouds, the light growing slightly duller almost instantly. The day's temperature growing cooler as well, only slightly, though making a difference in the pleasure of his laps. Takami made it to his starting point and counted off, dashing ahead as he reached the number ten. The boys head was cleared, the one-two pattern of his feet his only thoughts, his steady breathing coming naturally in pattern with the slow pitter-patter of sandals against the track. The laps became almost automatic to him, his eyes looking around taking in sights he didn't notice before, sounds he didn't hear before, the beauty of nature all around him here at the academy. The boy listened to the sound of the birds, singing, their chirps so pure and calm, he closed his eyes and his feet sped up the the tempo of the birds' song.

The student rounded around the second bend of the track, around the 300m mark, noticing the brick wall of the academy by him. He slowed to a jog with his eye brows furrowed over his eyes. He had run this same track five time before, and just noticed the track passed by the academy now. The boy looked back at the track ahead of him, distracted from his laps as he thought of how oblivious he was to the surround world, going back through the day and wondering how much he had missed because of his lack of attention to detail. In fact, what had he missed in his life because of this?! The boy looked up as he hit the 400 meter mark and speed up to try and finish this lap as quick as possible, thinking of the black haired Keiji girl he had trained with before, she had seemed so wise, so sure of her training, so alert. He was none of these. He was just himself. He didn't know what he wanted to do yet, though he did know he wanted to be a shinobi when he was older. But what did he want to do, become an eseinin like so many in his clan, including his own mother? Or should he become a taijutsu master like his cousin Elruda? Those were the only two options his parents could consider for him.

Or could he do what he really wanted? Could he be renounced for his skill in ninjutsu? Could Takami become the first Hyuuga known for something outside of what the clan was famous for?

He knew that he had great expectations, coming from such a noble clan. He knew he was suppose to do great things. He knew he was suppose to be a 'storm to be reckoned with.' as his mom had always told him he was whenever a mention of school came up. Or was it a 'force to be reckoned with'? Takami didn't know, he never really payed attention to his mom when she was giving him tips or encouragement, doing the same with his father, though he knew that the pair use to be quite good shinobis in their prime. But his family was talking about something he didn't know whether or not he wanted to do yet. His family expected him to be great at taijutsu. His parents expected him to follow exactly in their footsteps as they had for their parents, and their parents did for their parents, and such as it had been for many generations to come.

Takami did love what little taijutsu he did know, though, and nobody wanted to disappoint their own parents... And who knew, maybe taijutsu was his passion. Maybe he just thought he wanted to learn ninjutsu, or was there some sort of a middle ground for him to attempt?

Some times the boy wished he wasn't from a clan- the expectations were just overwhelming sometimes.

The boy passed by the 500 meter marking and quickly sped up to finish his laps. He looked around for his latest training partner and saw her doing push ups, deciding not to bother her while she was training, or maybe it was because he was in the middle of training himself, the boy didn't know the reason, but he knew that he shouldn't talk to her right now since both of the them seemed to be busy. He did need to talk to her though, maybe had some wisdom on this topic? Her parents probably wanted her to work in the forge similar to them, but yet here she was, training to be a shinobi. The took a couple deep breathes trying to steady his breathing before he started his next lap. But more importantly, he tried to steady his thoughts so he wouldn't get too distracted.

Shiro soon came, and Sakura was kind of surprised to hear that he hadn't done the jutsu yet. 'Heh, so there is something that everyone else is ahead of, huh?' she thought to herself as she saw Shiro blend in perfectly with the tree trunk behind him. It seemed to her that he was doing great, considering the fact that she could barely tell where the cloth ended at. If she hadn't been looking closely, she would have just passed him by.

"Sugoi, Shiro-kun, that was good!" she said, changing the honorific to a more casual one. After all, she wasn't going to be calling him '-san' for the rest of her life, right? Now was a better time then ever to switch, but she still searched for any signs of discomfort. "I wouldn't have been able to tell that you had been there if I hadn't been looking at you before you did the jutsu. Just make sure to blur the edges a little more naturally next time, so it doesn't look too out of place."

Picking up her own cloth of the tree print, she decided to try it again, this time checking that she was holding it up in the right direction before trying the jutsu. It seemed to work alright, but she glanced from behind her cloak to receive an affirmation.

18 - 1 = 17 Success

The small child mentally slapped herself for not paying attention to the task at hand. Sure, pushups may seem like a simple and mediocre task, but if she wasn’t attentive to the action then it would be completed incorrectly and she wouldn’t accomplish or gain everything that this particular exercise had to offer. Plus, she had never worked on her shoulders or her arms so she needed to mind her form so that she didn’t teach herself poor habits. Someday this would be so simple that Amaya would be able to drop to the floor and push out as many as she needed to without a moment’s notice, but she also had to make sure that until that time came she was allowing her muscles to develop their full range of motion and that she didn’t have muscle memory forming around poor technique. That would never do. Then there was the terrifying idea that if she allowed herself to slack now that it would bleed over into her other studies. If that happened there would be little holes here and there in her abilities; eventually it would grow to a chasm so immense that it would be too late to refill. Okay, maybe that was a little dramatic but there was no way to lose motivation with exaggerated thinking like that. Right?

Content with her mental barrage, Amaya decided it was time for yet another attempt. She was almost half way there, which meant that this was the easy part of the exercise. As the small, black haired girl lowered herself she took in a slow, even breathe while keeping a visual confirmation that she was lowering herself down to that ninety degree angle that she had been emphasizing in her previous attempts. The child felt the point where she had started pressing upwards in her last attempt and it wasn’t quite far enough for her to count it. Amaya was proud that she had noticed and yet she was disappointed that she had been working so sloppily. No matter, it was time to fix the issue and to keep working through her mental hiccups. Stopping momentarily at her properly lowered point, Amaya looked back and forth to each elbow before exhaling on her upwards acceleration. The young girl was feeling good both physically and with her overall progress. For never having done much physical work in the past she felt that she was doing quite well. Then again, it help that she was so light and short; it wasn’t exactly a long ways down to the ground. None the less, Amaya noted that she had reached the half way point of her training and that little smile that was always tattooed on her face stretched a little at the corners. She wasn’t about to boast about being able to do pushups of all things, but she was still utterly content with her progression and with how she was feeling about her decision to enter the Academy. Despite an event or two that tried to stampede in and ruin her day, the child was still very happy where she was and with how the day had gone.

Sakurayuki's confirmation that his technique was good made him smile behind the cloth. As did the fact, indicated by her switching to kun, that she seemed to be warming up to him as well. He dropped the cloth as she spoke, listening intently to her advice. He then watched as she attempted to do the jutsu herself. She did in fact blend in well, but the boy couldn't help but noticed her peak her head out to look his way.

"That's good Yuki-chan! he smiled, letting her know that he meant what he said." "Your definitely going to learn this one quickly. I really hope that I can do the same."

In all honesty though his reasons for wanting to do it quickly may not have been anywhere near her reasons. Shiro wasn't fond of the idea of hiding, he wanted to charge into battle swords drawn, and ready to draw blood. So, at it's base he wanted to finish quickly so that he could put it behind himself and move on to more advanced training while he waited assignment to a genin cell. With that idea in mind he moved to repeat the wood texture one more time to make sure that he had it down. Shiro raised up the cloth into position for the second time, and then used his chakra to create the blend again. This time he hoped to fix his blending and make it perfect.

"How's it look Yuki-chan? Is the blend better?" he called out from behind the cloth.

Kakuremino no Jutsu (Cloak of Invisibility Technique)
Description: This Jutsu is where one uses a cloak or a piece of cloth to make oneself blend in with the background, interpreting oneself invisible. While a student should use a cloak/cloth that fits with their environment, chakra can be used to enhance the effect but it can not make up for using the wrong camouflage. In this exorcise the students will demonstrate their ability to blend in to various surroundings using their cloaks/cloths.

Halfway through and the child was feeling like she had just started. Amaya was enjoying the warmth of the sun that peeked through the trees on her back accompanied with gentle breeze that kept her from getting too hot. It was similar to the fall months when being completely under the blankets was far too hot to sleep but as soon as you stick one of your legs out from under the blanket it is the perfect temperature and sleep just envelops you. That was the feeling the small girl was experiencing; though she didn’t have any urge to fall asleep. No, on the contrary, the child was breaking one of her own rules and thinking about what she could possibly do once she had completed her physical exercise. She still didn’t feel like running in the heat; though later in the afternoon was still fair game and she probably would before she went home. Pull ups were out of the question because she simply wasn’t confident enough to do that. She could go back inside and do some research but then she risked missing the instructor if one did arrive and, well, that wouldn’t leave a very good impression on her third teacher of the day. That was something else that she would avoid telling her parents about. What would they think if she told them she had three different teachers in one day and not because they were going from class to class? While a complete reaction didn’t form in her mind there was nothing good that appeared.

Amaya gave her head a slight flick as she tried to fruitlessly toss strands of hair out of her face. Maybe her mother was right; it was time to grow it out. The child had long hair up until her brothers came along. Then there was pulling and putting it in their mouths and getting whatever gunk was on their hands into it, so one night she took the kitchen scissors and went to town. Now, only being six at the time it wasn’t exactly a professional job, but considering the lack of minor and age it was a decent job. That next morning her mother helped her clean it up while the boys were napping. That was a three day process in and of itself because the four boys seemed to be on a rotating schedule so that at least one of them was awake at all times. That was a stress ridden time in the family. Inhaling slowly, Amaya lowered herself while pushing her family out of her mind. Once more she paused at the ninety degree angle before accelerating back up into that same locked plank position that she was holding between each attempt. The small girl was getting along just fine and she really was thankful for the opportunity to get some of her built up energy out, she really wanted to continue on with required assignments. However, she hesitated doing so on her own for a number of reasons: disappointing herself by not knowing she was doing, being punished by an angry instructor, and the judgment of her peers if she continued on her own without them.
