((LOL!!

@Castele and Lyra--whoah!! That was a really long post O.O))

Aura jumped up at Lee's chastisement, hitting the coffee table and spilling the juice over Lee's pants. "What?! What happened? Is everyone ok?!"

She yelped at the juice-puddle and quickly mopped it up with napkins and towels. "Goodness. Sorry sorry," she apologized profusely. "You gave me quite a shock."

Karin's eyes narrowed at Elias, she was now almost certain he played a role in the kidnapping and their predicament now. She had caught him fingering something in his pocket before he left, and she had noticed that he had took another walkway than Alex and Mark. Karin suspected that she was being watched though, so she kept silent and acted like nothing had happened. Inspecting the picture on the book, she nodded, "I know him. I've seen him once when he visited the Spy Academy as an honored guest of sorts."

It seems like I can't even voice my thoughts now because of my suspicions...especially with HIM around. I can't be absolutely sure he's involved...but...no harm in being careful. A bed on chains...hmm...seems like another piece to the puzzled. Let's see...the thrown dagger was the stranger's sign, it was intended to kill Alex so...I suppose that answers the second part of that line. The silvery ghost was probably that robot. We've been doing a lot of changing courses and turning since we've come here. I think Athena is part of the answer to the rest of the poem, but how does she tie in? Karin pondered, concentrating on the clues they had. She noticed Elias looking at her though so returned to the diary before he could become suspicious.

"Something wrong?" Elias asked Karin as Elisa helped Aura mop up the juice that had not spilled on Lee's pants. She was laughing merrily, as if everything were fine and they were all safe.

So. What is he up to now? Elisa thought. She too had noticed that he had gone a different way than Mark and Alex, which was not concurrent with his proposal of following them. Then again he had said he was going to see if the door to the garden was unlocked and that door would be more quickly reached by going the way he had. But what's all this about seeing if it's unlocked? We both know that we have master keys...well, maybe he didn't want anyone else to find out. Grandfather didn't tell anyone; he told us not to tell anyone either. So Elias is just preserving a secret. ...That still doesn't explain why he decided to go mope around the garden at this time. Huh.

Elisa turned around to grab another cookie but was disappointed. "Aura, why don't you come with me to get more snacks? And I'm sure Lee would like more juice." She grinned, telling her friend in their subtle sign language that she would be happy to fetch as much juice as she had to if she was free to spill it on him after. Oh Elisa, that's not nice. She sighed mentally to quell the thought and added, "We could go get you new pants as well, Lee!"

((If there are no objections could I will look for an opening where I can introduce a new character then?

For a moment, Lee's face scrunched and he looked like he was about to cry out of pure frustration. His foot, which had been punctured by a bullet a while ago, was still tender and healing. The wet fabric and the slight acidity of the juice soaked through the bandages made the wound sting. The wound had been aggravated from all the traveling they had been doing in the past 24 hours.

He sullenly leaned against the window looking out over the mansion's enormous back garden. Suddenly his entire countenance changed to one of shock. Lee straightened and began limping out of the room.

"You," he managed, and exhaled slowly. "I'm... just going to go look around on my own. Don't worry about it. I'll take care of it."

"Oh..." Elisa said sadly. "I'm sorry! Please! I'm sure there's some clothes around here that'll fit." She gazed helplessly after him and finished mopping. The damp napkins she tossed into the trash can and then sat miserably by. She could tell Lee did not wish to be followed but she also knew it was unsafe to wander around.

"It's not safe to travel around alone," she muttered dismally.

"Follow him then? You and Aura?" Elias asked quietly.

"Stalking is unkind."

"Ellasyn..."

Elisa glared at him and stood with a huff. This was quickly replaced by her usual cheeriness though. "Come on Aura, we might as well get him pants and deliver them. We really did annoy him!"

She told Elias over her shoulder, "If Karin wants to check out the Uncle Ryan's room, you show her."

"Ryan's?"

"Yea. Uncle Cheesecake?"

"No, I know who, but where?"

"Don't you know?"

"Well...I remember about enough about here to get from kitchen to my room and back..."

"You suck. It's the room with the bed strung up by chains and the three couches. Model city?... That room next to that statue!"

"Very informative, Elisa. Good job. I totally know which room you're talking about."

"The--you--agh! Oh forget it! We won't take that long anyway. I'm sorry Karin; my brother's a real dolt sometimes." She stuck her tongue out at him and her rolled his eyes nonchalantly.

Elisa strung her arm through Aura's and after checking to make sure her daggers were securely strapped to her wrists before skipping out of the area, humming softly.

Karin gave Elias a funny look, "Wrong? What would be wrong with me?" She returned to the diary and continued reading. Most of the pages she was reading right now was gushing about how grand Athens was. She didn't find that all that useful although it was interesting to read. Karin's eyebrows lifted when she heard the conversation between Elisa and her brother, "That room? I would prefer not to go there, thank you. And I have already been there once before so it's quite alright. If I really want to go, I think I can find my way there."

"Why lonely and cold?" Mark asked as he walked with her around the house.

Alex shrugged. "You left."

Aura shrugged and followed Elisa upstairs, where they dug up pants for Lee from old play costumes. "This should do," she decided. "Shall we go look for Lee now?"

She wandered around quietly for a while, looking out for Lee or Alex or Mark or kidnappers. Karin said something about the calm before the storm...maybe this is the storm...maybe they're just letting us go crazy with anticipation and let suspicions tear us apart....

Don't think like that, Aurasine. It's not going to do much good for your sanity or the situation.

I still think there's something wrong.

((@Lyrica--I think it's fine if you create another character... you'll have to explain where she was before then though...
Does everyone else agree?))

(tell me if this is okay for me to do? I know it's a bit unfair since we didn't really cover what happened outside very well- what with why they couldn't escape, and why we ended up staying just within the house. I'll fix it immediately if there's a problem.)

Fingering the steel wire still threaded so firmly between his fingers that they left imprints, Lee made his way down the hall slowly. He felt a prickling at the back of his neck and, feeling paranoid, slipped his other hand into his pocket to grasp at the small handgun he'd stashed earlier. He looked around and saw no one.

Ever since they'd found that the entire mansion was surrounded and enclosed, the group had been wandering the interior of the mansion and had never ventured outside since. They were sure that the kidnappers were the ones who knew the way out, after all, and said kidnappers were most likely within the mansion and had Mr. Gilfax with them, too.

Lee located the door to the mansion gardens, pushed it open and closed it behind himself silently. They were as green as he'd remembered them to be in the magazine pictures, lush and vibrant in a paradise that seemed to exist solely outside of the world of fear and insecurity Lee and the group had been experiencing up until this point.

He finally neared the koi pond in the back garden he'd sighted from the mansion window. Kneeling by the edge, he watched the brightly-colored fish dart away from him frantically, sending ripples across the clear, cool water. The sunlight shone through the water and reflected off a tiny, silvery object buried in the mud.

"What's this?"

Lee rolled up his sleeves and reached.

All was still, except for the sound of the koi thrashing and frothing the water, all was quiet. The garden was empty.

EDIT below:

Footprints left in the dirt trailed back to the house, made clear by a sense of purpose.

Everything suddenly went eerily quiet in Karin's mind, there was something wrong...or missing. Did she have a sixth sense she didn't know about? Or was she just going crazy from tension and anxiety? Anyhow, there story in Mrs. Gilfax's diary had changed to being back on the boat.

June 19, 1994
I am back on the Atlantis and heading back onto the sea, ah, how I love the smell of salt and breezes blowing around. Didn't think I'd ever miss this, but it is welcome after spending a long time in crowded Athens. As beautiful as that city is, it is too crowded at this time of year I suppose...but I have made a new discovery! It's probably such an old secret now...still, I'm excited to have figured it out all on my own, it's a good way to send secret messages. The "Invisible Ink" I've discovered is lemon juice and it works so well, smells nice too. Ah, yes, if there happens to be a blank page in this book here,(not that anybody should ever read it) put the page over a lamp and wait for the letters to magically appear...

Karin set the diary down and mumbled a quiet apology to Mrs. Gilfax about reading her thoughts before thinking about what she had found out in the diary. The clue that was found in the raven's mouth had a line about ink that wasn't able to be seen, it was very likely that ink could be lemon juice.

((Silver key, silver object...Lyrica and ePhyllis are making subtle puns about my username. tsktsk. (joking, sorry) ))

"I don't see him," Aura said, sighing. "Shall we hunt around for clues? Continue looking for Lee? Look for Alex and Mark? Go back? Is the garden open?"

She sniffed softly from frustration and sadness, her thoughts still running berserk within her mind.

A thought suddenly came to Karin, she closed the diary and set the book down on the table. "I'm going to check something out. If I'm not back by the time someone reads this, stay here with a partner. I will be back."-Karin she wrote on a slip of paper, a second thought caused her to rip the paper up into shreds and rewrite the words in a coded form. Then Karin pulled on her gloves and left, vanishing into a small hall in the side of the larger corridor, she found the place that Mr. and Mrs. Gilfax had showed to her when she first started working under them. It's a very special place, Karin, not even Elisa and Elias know about it yet because I just added it and haven't been able to tell them. Elias might never know because he is so rarely at home. The key to opening it is in your gloves. The ones I gave you, but first you have to find the entrance. She couldn't understand why the wall was so important, there was nothing on there, just a plain wall. Nothing more.

"Looking for something, Sweetheart?" A low voice chuckled, "I'll make sure you find it." Karin turned and sidestepped just in time to see a man raise his gun before pain exploded in her arm, she lurched forward, using the hand on her uninjured arm to break her fall. Her hand made contact with a slight impression in the wall and the entire room suddenly flipped on her. Karin flinched when she landed on her injured arm, but leaped up again on her feet, she inspected the damage the bullet had done. Thank goodness, the masked guy had missed, the bullet just grazed her arm. She wrapped it up in some bandages she had brought, then checked out her surroundings, it was lit by candles, their flickering light revealed carvings on the walls.

Elisa was oddly silent as they picked out pants for Lee and resumed searching for other people.

"I was thinking about the last lines in the poems we found--something like: 'in ink unseen another clue/ lies beneath an unclean shoe'. So invisible ink under dirty shoes? Or what? And who is leaving these clues for us? None of these clues are the ones I left...the one in the raven's mouth--that wasn't the one I gave to Karin to put in it before the party. Someone else is leaving us clues.

"The other poem: 'ignore the symbol on her head/ suffer by the floating bed'. Karin was reading about Athens...Athena. She's the goddess of knowledge, right? I don't get the part about her head, but don't the stories say she came out of Zeus's head? And then somehow we get Uncle Ryan connected....

"This is what I was thinking about: In the hall near Uncle Ryan's room is a portrait of Zeus. I was thinking of going over there and checking out if we could maybe find anything on his shoe that might help us. Or something. And I'm sure the floating bed means the bed in Uncle Ryan's room. I want to go check it out, but I think we should get back to Karin first. She would know about this better than anyone else, given her training in the Spy Academy."

Elisa inhaled and exhaled, finished with her rant just as they arrived near the living room. "Elias? Where did Karin go?"

"She said she wanted to look at something by herself. Like you said, stalking's not nice so I didn't follow."

"...It's not safe either."

"Well, no one's exactly safe," Elias scowled, standing. "I think I know where she went. She was musing on the second poem, so maybe the shoe rack?"

"We passed that on our way here. No one."

"Where else then?"

"You're impossible," Elisa retorted and whirled away to search for someone else. Elias followed grimly, wondering what he was supposed to do about his assignment.

Karin studied the carvings on the walls, all the designs merged together into a large picture of a meadow...with a girl standing in the middle of it. The girl was half-finished, her clothes were intricately and probably painfully incised into the pale marble stone, but her face was empty...no features at all, just...nothing. It was just blank. "Why is this room so important?" She whispered to herself, looking around, "Why would Mr. Gilfax go to such extents just to keep this place secret? There's nothing important in here right?" Karin traced the carvings on the white wall, following the picture. As she got to a corner of the room where the picture apparently ended, there was a soft grinding sound and another door opened. Showing a continuation of the meadow. How far does this picture go? I wonder if this place plays a key role in getting out of here? Remind me why I wanted to come here in the first place...
