Gen looked at Penny in disbelief. "You're bleeding! How is that not hurting you???" she cried out. "This seems damn serious to me!"

But attempting to get control of her fear, she felt the snow and ice forming. It felt like a piece of her in a way and she wanted to control everythign about her, she prided herself on it. She was quiet and damn good at it, why not at something that was a power? Something she could use to her advantage...

Grabbing a hold of that part of herself, she forced it to do what she wanted. The room began getting colder faster as the snow turned into a varitable blizzard. She could see Penny moving easily through the haze though, an added bonus she figured.

Regina slipped through the shadows and watched from the safety of them. She was shocked at the sudden cold but was glad the shadows were temperature regulated. Suddenly she found herself wondering which room Gen had been assigned to...

"Right...," Jacen said as the young woman walked up to him. Her canine friend decided to hang back, it seemed. "Where I live at is inhabited with mutants who share the same ideology as myself and our benefactor."

He didn't look over to her, but he knew she was curious about just what he meant. "We as mutants, are higher on the food chain. The next step in man's evolution," he said, "And humans....they don't accept that. They fear us, but....out of that fear comes the intense drive to kill us. Put us in camps. Experiment on us....."

They kept their way kind of quickly. It was raining out and Jacen was starting to get a bit cold now. "Now, some mutants take a more pacifist stance against all of this and hide. Some gather together to try and make for a peaceful world with mutants and humans standing side-by-side. Like Xavier's sheep."

Jacen stopped speaking for a second when he recognized the cross streets they were at and took a right at the corner. "But us....my friends....we believe.....hell, we know in our hearts that us as mutants are the rightful heirs to the planet. We were given these abilities for a reason. I'll be the first to admit that a majority of the time things we do are a bit....outside of the law, but that's alright. I have no problem with that."

He looked over again at the young woman, still bleeding alot, but not weakening. And she was even bullheaded enough to shake off the offer of his assistance. Admirable, he thought as he started to continue his miniature speech.

"Also, I'll be the first one to admit that I don't exactly see eye to eye or get along with a majority of the people I work with," he said while looking forward, noting that the house wasn't too far off. "But when it comes down to it, I'd cover anyone's back, no matter how much I don't like them."

When Jacen stopped talking, there was a brief silence as they were close to the Brotherhood house. "If you want....I can help you bandage those wounds. If you want that...." He stopped mid-sentence and looked right at the front entrance of the house. Or rather, the door and parts of the wall that were completely blown out towards the sidewalk.

".........What the ******** happened here now?!?!," Jacen exclaimed while shaking his head. There never was a dull moment living in this place. Even if he was a glorified babysitter, it would not get dull.

OOC: The Reavers aren't that easy to manage. Wolverine had a difficult time with them. Oh, and I never know who has read the comics or just seen Evo so if I ever bring up a villain that is unfamiliar, let me know and I'll find background info.

IC:

Penny didn't have a chance to explain to Gen that she would heal up just fine. She got lost into the snow that the girl was nicely creating.

"Regina, can you hear me?" Penny said almost muffled with the snow, "Pull me and Jamie into shadows, I have an idea."

"I'm an assassin...most of the things I'm hired for is quite outside the law."

Raine had stayed silent for the entire speech, listening to every word that fell from his lips. Yah, she would know much of what he was speaking of first-hand...especially the experimentation comment. A hand went to her right arm, where, unnoticable due to the make-shift bandage, were obvious needle marks...the marks of the drugs she was forced to inject herself with every day so she didn't turn into something like Katori. A mutant hunter.

"I don't need your help. I can take care of myself."

She commented bitterly, shaking her head, crimson-hued optics dead set. She was very much a person who followed different rules then the norm, if the wounds healed...then they healed. But if they didn't...she would die. Raine didn't like hospitals, never trusting them. And after Genlabs...

The rain didn't bother her...nor did the cold. Unflinching, she watched as he explored the destruction of the door and side of the building.

"Well...it wasn't me. But I'll help you look for whomever did it."

Katori kept his distance, the growls never ending as he glared at the man and Raine. What was that girl doing now...?

Alanna did not have the honor of being on the gold team who were in trouble that evening. Her team was the green team under the guidance of Logan... if that were to be called guidance. He was rarely around and often had Mr. McCoy watch over his kids. He was always on these top secret missions... that did Alanna no good. Eventhough Storm and Jean taught her most of her lessons, she didn't really have any leadership here.

It was probably her young naiveity, but going with Freya seemed like a very good option for her. The only problem is that she was afraid to ask Xavier permission to meet with Freya. The Institute hadn't become a home to her yet, nobody was particularly close to her. She didn't really care about Xavier's philosophies. She came to the Institute because she wanted to control her abilities. It had been a month and there was no control.

She decided that if her training didn't improve in a week or so, she was going to pack her bags.

Regina could hear Penny fine since she was in the quiet of the shadows. The snow didn't bother her there. She yanked Penny and Jamie into the shadows as she was asked, not questioning her leader's orders.

Gen continued to concentrate on the snow storm at hand. She kept it at it's fury, hoping that she wasn't injured by the claw wielding woman that had been attacking Penny.

ooc: i haven't read the comics or watched all of the evo series. I've gotten mostly through the first season but... sweatdrop yeah, i'm lame...

Three weeks ago...

The chamber opened slowly, thick white vapors emmitting from the sides as a tall, thin silhouette forming against the eerie white light in the background.

"So, my son... how do you feel?"

"Excellent dad... I'm stronger... and am I...?"

"Faster? But of course... this device will augment not only your physical prowess, but you'll experience a level of control over your gifts than ever before..."

Pietro stretched, feeling his slightly bulged muscles stretch, though his body remained skinny and small for the most part. "So then, what's the plan for our motley little crew?"

"The Brotherhood? You leave their reorganization to me... most of them will form under my wing on my word alone. No... your target is already organized... something that needs to be remedied."

Pietro licked his lips. "So you want me to break up the X-Men all on my own, do you?"

"My son, don't think of it in such destructive terms. Think of it as... a re-education..."

Now...

Pietro stood outside the Xavier Institute. His costume, once made simply of spandex he'd lifted from a local costume store, was now constructed of sleek interlocking metal plates, providing him an armor far more efficient than the metal ball he'd used to reinforce himself in the savage land. He wore a pair of dark shades around his eyes, possibly because he finally needed some degree of protection from the level of speed he was capable of. Around his forehead he wore, prominently, a large neural scrambler, powerful enough to disrupt even the most powerful telepath. Confident that the only true obstacle to his success was no longer a threat, Pietro rushed inside so fast he nearly teleported.

To any outside observer, there was only a rather powerful draft running through the house. A strange, almost intelligent wind that travelled through every corridor, analyzed every patch and hidden switch in the wall in a fraction of a second. Indeed, it took Pietro almost no time at all before he found himself standing within the master control panel of the Danger Room, overlooking a number of Xavier's spawn fighting some kind of weird looking cyborg things.

"Hmm... isn't that cute," Pietro mused. "They're learning teamwork... it'd almost be a crime to break up this Kodak moment. I'd have to be a real b*****d to... oh who am I kidding?" he asked as he typed in a few commands to the console.

OOC: You'd think Xavier would have better safties smile j/k

IC:

"So my only take 'em out unless we have to philosophy has gotten to the 'if we have to' part... We've gotta knock them out good," Penny said to both Regina and Jamie.

"So what's the plan?" Jamie asked.

"Jamie, this may take a lot from you. But I want you to take all of the light out of the area. They'll be in total darkness. Regina will pull us all through the shadows and into strategic places. As soon as we're set, you need to turn up the lights. With all the snow, this is going to blind them all. We will have the advantage."

Without hesitation, Regina pulled Anna, Morgan, and Gen into the darkness of shadows. In a span of less than a minute, the lights went out around the Reavers. Pitch black. Regina pushed people where they needed to be as Jamie blinded every one of their foes. Penny was behind Deathstrike when the blinding lights went back up.

She had no intention of letting this woman go. With their leader down, this mission was won. She gripped tightly around her sword and ran it through a blinded Deathstrike. The woman wrenched her back and blood sprayed onto Penny's hands.

"You're not a healer lady," Penny said and left her on the ground. Deathstrike took one last swipe at Penny's legs. Man did it hurt and man did it cut.

"X-Men, fall back..." Penny said but their targets disappeared into the nothingness of the Danger Room's memory. One down four to go.... But as Penny limped away she realized something that was going to scare most of the team. Safties were off. There was no way a cut that deep would have been allowed to go on.

"Give me time to heal," Penny said as they backed off to a place they had already cleared in the maze. She looked at a very concerned Gen, "It's okay. I can heal it. I'll be fine."

"Morgan, Jamie, Gen, stay here. Regina, Anna and I are going to scout for a minute," Penny said and had Regina move them through shadows. Penny leaned back against something shadowy, "We're not going anywhere."

"I figured," one of the girls said and looked at Penny's leg.

"I'll heal, but we need to keep moving. Do not let the rest of the team know that safties are off. I don't want them scared and doing something stupid. We have to get through the end of this program alive. I have a feeling whoever did this isn't going to give Xavier and easy time in shutting it down either," Penny took a deep breath and tried to do the one helpful thing Logan had taught her: don't focus on the pain.

"Do you want me to play mommy?" Regina asked.

Penny knew what she meant, "Yes. You need to be our eyes. If you see that somebody is going to get hurt, get them into shadows. We can do this... afterall, we're gold team. Let's go."

"Not a problem." Regina nodded and looked at penny's legs. They were healing but the cuts were far deeper than they should have been. "I know we'll get through this, but it's still unnerving to say the least..."

She wouldn't admit it aloud but she was worried for the team. One was still learning his new found powers and one was flat out learning how to control hers. How were they on gold team? Don't think that way, she reprimanded herself. Teamwork, and they've done very well so far working as a team. They would make it through this.

Gen had no idea what was going on. She stood with Jamie and looked aorund, the snow starting to slow to something out of a morbid fairy tail. It looked like the last scene in Kill Bill where Lucy Lu was bloody but snow was falling. "So... this is all just a test of our abilities...?" she said quietly, wondering just how much longer it would take.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 23, 2005 10:57 am

"I'm worried too, Reg," Penny whisphered, "But we're the leaders. We can't let anybody else know that."

So they returned from the shadows. "It looks like we're clear to go back the way we came. We just wanted to make sure there were no surprises. You all did very well in this first task."

Thankfully, she was true to her word and there were no more booby traps as they went back through the maze to the beginning. Four more paths needed to be covered. She hoped that their enemies would be much easier than this one.

She could feel every step she took tearing at her wound. There was no time to rest, though. They needed to get out of here. Even the X-Men had a hard time in the Danger Room with safties gone.

Their path was remarkably clear as they went through the next session. When they got to the end of their path, something even more surprising happened. A huge box appeared around them. It came so fast that not even Penny had time to see that it was coming.

"Well, as long as no bad guys appear, I guess we just have to figure out how to get out of here."

OOC: If anybody takes a stab at the box, it is self generating. Once the bust out of one, another appears. I have an idea on how to get out, but you all can feel free to come up with something too.

Regina blinked at the wall of the box she was facing. "That was kinda sudden... Ever seen anything like this Penny?"

"Not before this. Weird." Penny answered, testing the side. It was solid.

"I could freeze it... and maybe someone break it?" Gen offered, trying to be useful for a change.

"Go for it." Penny nodded and gave an encouraging grin.

Gen closed her eyes and concentrated on it snowing and freezing outside of the box. As soon as the inside began to cool and frost formed on the walls she kicked one side and it shattered. Everyone else kicked a side as the box vanished she gave a sigh of relief then gasped as the walls formed again.

"Okay... well it was worth a shot." Regina bit her lip, unsure of this. "If the walls keep coming back, how will we get out?"
PostPosted: Sat Apr 23, 2005 12:03 pm

"That was a neat trick, there Gen," Penny encouraged her and was really impressed by what the girl could do. That didn't change the fact that they were stuck in a box. At least she was being given time for her leg. I'm not as fast as Wolverine, but at least I will make it to Round 3.

This is going to test me to be faster than I am. This is going to test all of us to be faster than we are.

"The box seems to be stationary on this spot and it forms up from the ground. We just need to be faster than it. Gen, I'm going to give you a moment to rest. Anna, stand up on the wall and sliced it through. Don't mind me riding your a**, we have to be fast," Penny stood almost directly behind her. She knew Anna's claustrophobia and really wanted to get her out of here first.

Anna swong with dead on percision and sliced a block through the wall. Penny pushed her out into the clearing as fast as she mutantly could (humanly would be the wrong word for it since her speed was hardly human). Almost as soon as Anna went forward, the wall went shooting back up. Anna bumped off of it but fell onto the ground on the other side of the wall.

"You okay?" Penny yelled.

"Yes, just bruised up a bit," She heared Anna say muffled.

"That mother's fast," Penny sighed, "Who's next?"

Gen took a breather, glad that she had done something right. It seemed maybe she was good for something after all. She watched as the others worked with their powers like they were second nature. She was envious of threm and swore to herself that she'd get that good.

Regina looked at the four sides. "Hey, there is some shadow over there. Well mostly since it's blocking out light. I'll get me and Gen out of here first and come back for penny. Then Jamie, sound good?"

"Works for me Regina, go for it." Penny approved.

Regina first took out Gen, then Penny, then Jamie. It wasn't that difficult and she wondered why she hadn't thought of it sooner. "I'm a dork... Smack me later. What's next?"
She looked at Penny's legs, hoping to see them nearly healed. Or at least ready for the next obstacle.

OOC: Just posting a quick just because I feel like it. :p

IC: Wanda was sitting with Freya on the top of a building. Oddly, she felt quite calm. "You're not doing anything to me right?"

"I'm no telepath, Wanda. I don't control minds or moods. It just seems I know what you need to calm down. A bit," only said Freya as she pushed her hair back in the wind. "Your brother is now in town. He just messed up in the Xavier's mansion."

Wanda stood up. Her coat floated in the wind. "I want his head," she said angrily. She turned to Freya. "Are you going to stop me?"

"And miss a cute family reunion? No way," giggled Freya. But her smile quickly disappeared.

Being connected with spirits, Freya could know things others don't. Tons of things. Like danger. And some people wanting her head.

Just felt that kind of danger.

"Good because I'm going there. NOW," said Wanda. She didn't notice Freya changing her expression. So she was mostly surprised when the blond girl grabbed her elbow as she was leaving. "Let me go! I need to end this! For my own good!"

"Don't. Something... Someone is going there."

"Going where?"

"The mansion! He knows I went there and now he hopes to get some infos on my whereabouts! Don't go!"

"Are you actually scared?" angrily said Wanda, freeing herself from the grab.

"He's dangerous."

"So? It doesn't mean you can't kick his a** as always!"

"I can't!"

"WHY?!"

"Cause he almost killed me last time! If it wasn't for the professor..."

Wanda was surprised. Freya always seemed to be sure of herself. Invicible even. And now, she looked like a girl of her age: scared and fragile in some kind of way. "What will happen to the X-Men?"

"I don't know. I think they'll probably get their a** kicked pretty bad if they're not in trouble already. As usual," said Freya with a sad attempt to joke.

Wanda grabbed Freya's arm and dragged her to the edge of the roof. "We're going. Make us fly there."

"What?"

"WE'RE GOING!"

Freya grinned. "Awww.... You want to save your brother."

"No. I want to kill him before that guy does."

"Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight."

"Just GO already!"

Meanwhile

A dark figure stood in the gardens of Xavier's mansion. He grinned. He could smelled her here.

OOC: I wonder if I did get anyone's attention this time?

"I see that you can do just that," Jacen replied sarcastically while looking over the girl's wounds. He smirked slightly and shook his head before speaking up.

"You know....I used be like that. Playing the "I'm So Tough No One Can Help Me But Myself" angle....," Jacen paused for a second. "But I took some lumps before, some bad lumps, and if it wasn't for someone's help, I'm sure I'd be in a locked down facility somewhere or worse."

He knew what he said was met with curiousity. But he paid no mind as he examined the doorway and the damage incurred.

"Well...it wasn't me. But I'll help you look for whomever did it."

"I know it wasn't you," he said as he stood up slowly noticing a gaggle of three of his 'brethern' approaching, "You were at the mutant farm. As was I." He looked straight at Lance as he showed his face. "Who did this?"

"Who do you think did this?," he replied.

"...............I swear to ******** God....that girl is an EXTREME liability," Jacen said vehemently while lighting a cigarette. "I don't know who's going to be the death of our ragtag group of misfits....either the humans, Xavier's sheep, or Wanda."

"Oh...my aching head...." Toad had decided to join the shindig at the front door. Freddy wasn't too far behind.....not that it was hard to miss him. "She tried to kill me, boss."

"Then stop making advances, Frog," Jacen said between puffs of his smoke. "I know it's probably getting kind of late, and we need to fix the door, but......do it tomorrow, bright and early. Fred, you're in charge of getting the lumber. Lance, you're in charge of getting the supplies."

"What about me boss?," he heard Toad ask. Scion looked down at the crouching Toad and saw him pick one of the various flies that swarmed around him out of the air.

"Take a bath," Jacen replied without hesitation. "Your odor could knock out a wildebeest." Everyone seemed to be accordance with Scion's words, all except Toad that is, who bitched up a storm as the three Brotherhood mutants wandered further into the run-down house.

"I'm sorry, miss," he said as he took a seat on a dry spot on the porch, "You know how kids get, though."

When he sat down, he noticed the dog staring at him intensely, looking as if he wanted to rip Jacen's throat out. There was so much intense anger and hatred coming off of this canine. So much that Jacen, unknowingly, was leeching alot of it into himself. That definitely struck him as odd. He could never leech negative energy from an animal before this. There was much more to these two than he had anticipated. Thankfully, it was getting dark out, and Jacen needed to expend energy. Alot of it. Without warning, he angled his hand towards the sky and let loose with a massive blast of energy that cut through a cloud, exposing the sun at an arbitrary place in the city.

After he had expended the excess energies in his body, Jacen looked over to the girl and calmly said, "Listen. I'm only going to offer this once more. I'll help you clean and dress those wounds. Besides... sometimes us mutants have to look out for one another."
