Y'know, I buy all the presents I give out in aquariums.. "Overseer..." she breathed, a relieved smile practically splitting her face in two. "I was so scared. I thought... you'd run away again..."
She continued to beam. It made her happy that the Overseer had stopped and come back to her. Once she realised who it was walking ahead of her, she'd been worried he would have bolted... but he didn't. Maybe he was beginning to trust her now.
"I was only looking for the Captain because I thought I'd need him to help me find you. Have you met him yet? He's a good man."
Reaching out, she took both of his hands in hers. "Would you like to come eat some breakfast? I've only eaten an orange so far today... because I was hoping we could eat together." ...I have the receipts to prove it.

"I ... err," He came to a stop as he paused, searching his memory like rewinding a tape. It did not take long at all until he reached the end of it, and he admitted, "I do not believe I have met him as of late."
Murky dreams and the terror of the night before forgotten, he was just happy to see a familiar face. He smiled again, the expression not sitting very well on his features, as if it was still not sure it should be there. His hands squeezed hers and he nodded, "That sounds suitable, if there is nothing else I need to attend to this morning. Err, and should I know who the Captain is? What is he like?"

Y'know, I buy all the presents I give out in aquariums..Lorika thought for a moment, gently steering them both around, back the way they had come. "I had a very interesting conversation with him just this morning. If you'd kept going unhindered, you probably would have met him eventually. He's... well. To be honest, I don't know him well myself. He's... very polite. Rather taciturn. He can be cruel, but he can be incredibly kind, too. At least, from what I've seen." She turned her face up to him, smiling. "He also takes his duties very seriously."
They walked together quietly for a while, Lorika swinging their hands like a pendulum between them. She kept her eyes fixed on the floor. This new Overseer was so strange. He was almost like a child, so lost and afraid, always wandering and never worried for his own safety.
"You don't really like it inside, do you?" she remarked sweetly "If you'd like, we could go down to the beach and eat our breakfast by the waves." ...I have the receipts to prove it.

"Oh ...? I am sure we will eventually cross paths. Right ..." He wasn't sure what else to say about the Captain, having not met him, and in all honesty, from Lorika's description of him, the Overseer wasn't sure he wished to meet him at all. It made him nervous again, and a little nauseous thinking on all the people that knew him, while he hadn't the faintest recollection of who they were. At least by now, he thought, staring at his bare feet, he was used to some of the more exuberant welcomes. He looked back up at Lorika when she mentioned breakfast on the beach, and the indecision was there. "No ..." He started slowly, "I do like it inside. It is very nice and ... um, nice." (( I have to go to work now. Nine hours of it, so I will likely see you again tomorrow. I'm sorry, I couldn't think of anything more to add, and I need to run so I am not late. ))

(( Rah, better make my reply post now before the day is up... )) Y'know, I buy all the presents I give out in aquariums..Lorika watched him quizzically as they walked hand in hand back towards Jessie's quarters. Strange. So strange. But not bad... endearing. As it has been stated before; childish. Innocent.
"Very well, my Lord. Eating inside it is."
They walked along for a few more minutes before she spoke again, thoughtfully. "My Lord," she began "Have you ever heard of a game with Tarot cards? Yes, they're playing cards, but people say you can predict the future by looking at the cards you draw from the pack."
She looked up at him from under her eyelashes again, almost shyly. "It may sound silly, but I suddenly remembered that there is one card there... it reminds me of you. The card represents bravery and innocence, the beginning of a new journey, and the ability to take a leap of faith, just believing in yourself."
Mulling over the best way to finish telling him about it, she finally chuckled, covering her hand with her mouth in a genteel fashion. "Unfortunately the card has a rather insulting name - the Fool. But the message is nice, don't you think?"
Her final comment was very quiet, and left completely open to the Overseer's interpretation. "For several years, it was the only card I ever pulled." ...I have the receipts to prove it.
