Lainauriel Camwen Lainauriel Hmmm, we dont eat fruitcake. I think the custom in orthodox christians is to bake some cake with a coin in it or something, but our family is atheist. So... i saw this fruitcake on the photos and no, i would rather have a chocolate one, thank you biggrin ! Its so nice everyone has some tradition with gifts, we dont have anything like that biggrin Do you enjoy any of the secular holiday things? Our family isn't religious either (well some in the extended family are) but we still do tree, gifts, nog, ect. We're more into celebrating being with family - especially those we don't normally see the rest of the year. Well, since our customs are from our homeland, Serbia, we celebrate the Christmas actually on New Year. That means that the Santa comes on the 1st (or whenever my mum gets the time to put the presents there without us noticing it). We get presents from Santa and from parents, and we usually give some small presents to our parents. Now my sister and i usually go to some party on New Years eve, so we open the presents on the 1st with our parents smile . Mum usually makes coconut balls (omg i hope this isnt rude or something), and she bakes some chicken or turkey smile . That all sounds wonderful! xd Is coconut a traditional New Years thing? My family always had coconut on New Years but nobody really knows why anymore. lol

Nobody in my family likes coconut, so we've never done that one xD It may be a tradition but I don't know anything about it.
My mom is religious, so she's big on the whole spirit of the holiday thing in that sense- but my dad is agnostic, my brother I believe is an atheist, and I'm ecclectic- so outside of my super-religious grandparents and sister, there really isn't any religious love in our house besides my mom. We still do the tree because it's something we like doing, and we put an angel on top of it to keep mum happy- but generally the day is different to us than it is to some of our relatives.

Well I grew up Catholic, my dad's whole family is catholic - though he was much more laid back than the rest of them. So as a kid we'd all go over to my grandmother's Christmas eve and have dinner, socialize.. huge event considering my grandmother had 8 kids, then you add in their spouses, kids, and now their kids' kids lol. And after a while we all exchange gifts which can take several hours lol.. and then most of the family goes down to my grandmother's church for midnight mass.. I can't remember the last time I went to that.. I never really got why they had it at midnight.. Should be interesting to see how that plays out this year.. Though my grandmother passed away a few years ago the family still gets together at one of my aunts house. And I haven't been in WI for a Christmas in over a decade...
Everybody cross your fingers for Noch.. his Cali blood might just freeze in WI lol.

Camwen Aha! So there is at least one person who does like fruitcake smile Thanks Exxos. Sorry you can't have real hot chocolate. I can at least torture you with some delicious looking virtual hot chocolate. Not as satisfying but easier on the kidneys. Well, REAL fruitcake typically does not have vick's nyquil and dayquil colored blobs in it. That particular cake I will eat but not like. But I like most homemade and bakery fruitcakes. I imagine the fruitcake I like most everyone in the guild would like too, it is an apricot/plum/raisin/fig/mixed nut fruit cake with rum.

It's those darn red and green candied fruit that make me gag. They often put them in hot cross buns too! blarg!

Well the extent of my holidays in r/l this year will be spent working them. There are a few people who know why in this guild. The extent of my holiday decorating is a small potted norw.pine tree with the crud that came on it from the market I bought it at. However, I do wish you all a very safe and happy as well as merry Christmas and new years!! Keep the cake, Just sqeeze out the rum for me please!! It's the weekend and its cold and wet. So, If noone has any objection's to me sitting in the beaches corner of the bar under the sun lamps. Thats where I will be all weekend, just pour me a round of rum every 10 minutes till I either throw up pixels everywhere or pass out.
