Kiya really didn't like the sound of that. But from the look on his face, that sudden hunger in his eyes. And not to mention his fangs. He was in no way joking. Except she really wasn't going to like what he was asking her. Eyes filled with an apologetic light she drew her arm back, back handing him acrossed the face so hard she actually heard the slap of her skin meeting his echo around them. It was hit him that way or she was going to tackle him, her shoulder digging into his stomach. "Maybe we should leave."

Gregory groaned again, and let his head thump against the mossy ground.
"A bird? I fail to see how I look like a bird in any way, but I suppose a mistake is mistake. Hey, at least it wasn't anything more valuable: Yes I'm all right, and yes you're forgiven."
He reached into one of his many pockets, and withdrew a small tub of healing balm. He took a bit of it and rubbed it where the arrow had struck, and it instantly felt better; it did nothing to soothe his aching dignity though. He got to his feet, and winced; he'd forgotten about the broken ribs too. He turned to look at the person hanging in the tree; she wasn't looking too good upside down. Gregory cocked an eyebrow.
"You shouldn't hang like that for too long; there's a chance that you could have an anuerysm, and that's a messy one even by my standards, which are high."
He paused, and sniffed at the air, holding up a finger in the "one second" gesture. THC, Shrooms, and a touch of Meth... A smirk slid across Gregory's face, and he called out into the underbrush.
"Hey Zai, is that you?"

"You look a lot like a bird when its dark and you are hiding in a tree." She commented, before going up to grab the branch with one hand, then letting go with her legs so she could actually stand. "If only I knew what that was." She said under her breath when he started talking about an anuerysm. She leaned against the tree and waited for the Zai person. She had no idea who that was - who anyone was for that matter. She blamed her parents for not letting her go anywhere.

Gregory realized that if it really had been Zai Hana he'd smelled, she would probably just walk over, not say anything. In the mean time, he decided to learn a bit more about the person who'd shot him. He smirked, and glanced at himself with a shrug.
"I guess that's a mistake anyone could make; five foot birds that swear are relatively common around here, I take it?"
He grinned and looked the girl over. She seemed rather normal, at least by his jaded standards, and she wasn't threatening any longer. He couldn't sense her race, but he wasn't in a hunting mood anymore.
"An aneurysm is the medical name for one of the blood vessels in your brain exploding like an overheated sausage. It's messy, causes brain damage, and it's practically irreversible. Nasty, nasty stuff. I'm Greg by the way; Dr. Gregory Araeberous."
He dusted off his hand, and offered it to shake, an uncommonly polite gesture for him.

Ever laughed and nodded in response. "You know, I think I saw one just the other day. Served for about a weeks worth of food." She became horrified as he talked about the aneurysm, but just shook her head, hoping that next time someone mentioned a medical condition, she would remember not to ask. She was, however, glad he had saved her brain from exploding. It sounded very painful. "Everleigh Ross. Call me Ever though. I'm not really fond of the Leigh." She shrugged and shook his hand.

Gregory blinked at her response, but he wasn't entirely surprised. He hadn't been in the forest long enough to say for certain, but given the werewolf's scrawny nature, he was prepared to believe just about anything. The two shook, and he nodded at her name.
"Very well than, ever shall you be Ever. Forever and ever. Heh heh... Ehhh... Nice to meet you Ever."
He stopped himself, but it was difficult; once the puns started rolling, they never slowed down for too long.

Ever rolled her eyes and smiled. "Never ever heard that before. Nice to meet you too. What you doing in the woods?" She asked, considering changing it to Leigh instead of Ever.

Gregory tipped his head, maintaining a calm demeanor to the best of his ability.
"Whatever you say..."
He held back another spurt of laughter by contemplating his exact reasoning behind entering the large, dark woods. His conclusion was easily reached; he was looking for prey. He decided that this was an acceptable answer, and offered it.
"I was hunting. I just happened to find some prey that decided things looked better from the other side of the plate, and here we are."
He gave a nod to her bow.
"I assume that you're on the hunt too then?"

The pain helped, his mind fighting off the red haze of blood lust. the words managed to break through and he nodded, steping forward as he rubbed his cheek. " Yes.." Turning away he started off, putting distance between himself and temptaion.

Seeing him rub his cheek made her feel bad, no matter that he had asked her to. Moving quickly she fell into step behind him, her ears perked again. A snap and rustle caught her attention though she kept walking, and when she saw it was merely a rabbit she smiled to herself and tried to not go chase it. "For a moment I honestly believed that was the same rabbit I was chasing yesterday." She had only shown up in the same house as him because of the rabbit, and that had been one quick little hare. It had taken her a full day to catch it. Though considering all that had been happening, it wouldn't have surprised her if the rabbit had come back to life. She hadn't even bothered to bring it home, it had just been a matter of pride.

"You got all hurt from that?" Ever asked, raising an eyebrow at him. He did look pretty hurt, but who was she to judge. Her brain had almost exploded. "Not really. I get whatever I pass by, I guess. Just as much as I have to though." She shrugged, she didn't really like killing anything, even animals. She was still hungry though, and kind of disappointed that her food had turned out to be a person.

Greg gave his broken ribs an affirmative nod, and an odd half-smile. It was clearly the result of a large animal tackling or ramming him, and the blood soaking through the bandages made it look worse. He pressed a hand to them unconciously as she continued, and winced a bit at the pressure. He rolled his eyes.
"Please tell me you're not an eco-freak. If you want something, you have to take it: its a big, cold world out there, and if you don't take care of yourself... who else will?"
She didn't seem like a killer, which was both a breath of fresh air, and a rather enervating event. Gregory firmly believed in killing whatever got in the way of what he wanted, and it bothered him that people thought otherwise. Perhaps it was his youth, or maybe it was the Altar's twisted world view, but he understood that to survive, sometimes you had to take advantage of the world around you. For all his coldness though, he wasn't without compassion; he was a doctor first, and a killer second. He reached into his back pack, which was leaning on a tree nearby, and pulled out a ration pack. He offered it to her, his half-smile still clinging to his face.
"Here. It's not much, but it'll keep the wolf from the door until you can find some more reasonable prey. And don't you dare refuse it."

Ever shook her head at what he said first. "I know, but I'm not going to take something if I don't have too. What if someone came and shot you for food?" She stopped, knowing that's exactly what she had done. But it was a lot different. She noticed him wince and frowned. "Well that looks painful. Your alright?"
Her eyes widened at the food and she shook her head again. "Are you sure though? Because it isn't really that hard to find food, I just have to do it when I can see." She wasn't used to people giving her things, and she decided she didn't like it. It made her feel like some kind of charity case, which she most definitely was not.

Gregory smiled faintly; he hadn't heard such an innocent statement in years. It was a bit of a chilly thing to think, but that was just the way his mind worked. He decided not to push the issue; he had no intention of being responsible for corrupting something pure. He let her own statement turn on itself, glad to see that she could recognize an error and not get flustered. At her comment about his side, he waved it off with a grin through gritted teeth.
"Just werewolves. You know how it is. Maybe."
At her refusual of the food though, his eyes softened; there was a bit of himself that he recognized. He grinned, and continued to offer the food.
"All right then... consider it payment for breaking one of your arrows."
He held up the now stained and cracked arrow, which his vice-like grip had crushed on it's removal.

"No, I really haven't met a werewolf before." She shrugged, not knowing at all whether that was weird. Usually she was smart and kept her distance from people - obviously today she didn't have that luck. It was good it turned out to be fine though, even though she probably could have just taken care of them with her bow if it hadn't.
When he offered the food in exchange for her broken arrow she sighed in defeat. "Fine. Can I ask how you did that to the arrow just taking it out?" She raised an eyebrow as she took the food and set it on the ground, knowing it was as good a place as any. She would eat it when she was hungrier.
