P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter smiled excitedly. "We have time now, then, right?" He was practically jumping up and down with excitement. Not only was he going to have some fun with Eduard, but in the long run, this practically guaranteed that Eduard would come and visit Peter's family with Peter—not that Peter didn't trust Eduard's words; he just needed to assure himself of it somehow.L a d y - R o s a l i n e

Laughing, Eduard put his hands on Peter's shoulders. "Calm down. Of course we have time now. Plus, it's a beautiful day outside. I'll just grab my coat and..." but then the Marquess frowned. "This is a bit of a predicament... if I go shopping with you Peter, it would look natural, but if someone were to see us then they would certainly wonder... but shopping with Rosaline would look strange in the store, while otherwise would seem normal..." He sighed, the Marquess thinking over this problem for a time. "Ah! We'll just say you're a new hand around the house. The new gardener"

P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter felt a little miffed that he hadn't thought about anything like that before, mostly due to his great excitement. Peter smiled and nodded. "Be right back!" He went off to his room and returned soon after wearing the same outfit he was wearing on the day that he met Eduard. Those were the only gardener looking clothes that he had, and it had been sitting around, newly washed, ever since he arrived at the Michaels manor. "How does this look?" Of course, now that Eduard brought that problem up, Peter was also left to think how they would exactly shop. They wouldn't be shopping in the aristocratic area, since the clothing found there would be of no use... But Eduard, with this extravagant style and great looks wouldn't really fit in any place at which Peter thought to shop. "We'd have to pass it off as you buying clothes for my father or something, who just happens to be your size." Peter found it ridiculous, both the thought of his own father being Eduard's size, and the thought of the shopping trip in general. He suppressed a strong fit of laughter.L a d y - R o s a l i n e

Laughing, Eduard nodded, "I think I can manage that." he replied with a wink before leading Peter toward the front door. "It looks just as good on you now, as the day we met... only slightly less damp." He made sure that Sebastian had the carriage brought around. After all, if Eduard was shopping for Peter's 'father'... he could still travel in style. Helping Peter into the carriage, Eduard sat down next to the actor then gave him a rather curious look. "How exactly are we to travel to your family's, by the way?"

P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter felt so out of place and different wearing these clothes that he had on now in a carriage, whereas the only other times he had ever been in one was when he was wearing clothing that probably was of more value than his parents' house. "How exactly are we to travel to your family's, by the way?" Peter hadn't thought about that either, and scolded himself. "Well, like when you met me, I usually just walk everywhere... Usually it's from the theatre home." He smiled at Eduard. "I mean, if you want to make it completely believable that you're an acting friend of mine, then we would have to start from the theatre, wouldn't we?" Then Peter remembered for a second that he was actually addressing a noble. He was surprised at himself for having forgotten that in the first place. "But perhaps you don't like to walk much... We'll figure something out."L a d y - R o s a l i n e

One thin eyebrow arched in question. "I have no aversion to walking. After all, I was walking when you met me." Granted... that was because it was raining. Carriages... rain... It was almost enough to send a shiver down his spine. "Besides," the Marquess continued, not wanting to dwell on that particular thought for too long, "We can go to the theatre district by carriage, then simply walk to your home. It would at least save us the distance... since my estate is a good deal away. I can arrange for the driver to pick us up in the same spot not long after you think we'll be leaving. That way... we don't have such a distance to go in the dark. Assuming, of course, that we are not staying the night."

P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter laughed nervously, "Knowing my parents, that very well may be a possibility." Peter looked up, a small but blissful smile on his expression. "Otherwise, I think it sounds great." He laughed. It was a carefree sort of sound. "I'm just very happy that you're coming. It may be one of the best things that anyone's ever done for me..." He leaned back in the seat and breathed in contentedly. It was obvious that Peter was very happy about it all.L a d y - R o s a l i n e

Smiling softly, Eduard nodded. "Then if we are to stay, I will tell my driver to wait for a few hours. If we do not show up... well... he simply must pick us up the next afternoon at the same location." Crossing one leg over the other at the knee, the Marquess adopted a rather thoughtful posture. "So do tell me, Peter... how exactly are you planning to common-ize my speech?"

P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter knew that that would be a troubling assignment, but he was ready to tackle it. "Well... I tend to speak like I do in the plays in your presence, just because it only seems right. But, if I were to switch back to the mannerisms and speech that I use at home, then you would probably actually be quite surprised." Peter cleared his throat. "For one, simplify the speech. Don't flourish it and do whatever it is that you aristocrats tend to do..." Peter was failing miserably at his explanation. He glanced down at his feet. "Maybe we should go into the general working class section of London for a couple times before heading over to my house?" It felt odd addressing Peter's house as his own, since that sort of meant that Eduard's house wasn't his, and it just didn't feel right that way. "There's a specific accent, sort of like this..." Peter then went into a short little example. Reverting back to his old way of speaking felt so foreign all of a sudden, but nevertheless he pulled it off perfectly.L a d y - R o s a l i n e

"Maybe..." but then Eduard simply stopped speaking, thinking over what Peter had said for a time. "I think going to the working section of London would help most. Though, I suppose I have gotten a little common speech from Elizabeth. Definitely not Sebastian... would it be too much to ask that you speak in your normal manner when, no pun intended, out of dress?" the Marquess asked. He wanted to make everything as believable as possible. Plus... He didn't want to disappoint the actor either.

P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter blushed. "It... It would feel weird... Being in the presence of an aristocrat and all..." For a moment, Peter felt the great divide between them open up again, since he was addressing Eduard with an implied reverence. But that quickly passed. Peter smiled brightly up at Eduard. "I can, if you would like me to. Actually, I should probably start now. Gardeners don't speak like the Queen, after all." Peter winked and laughed.((So... since I don't feel like looking it up, what exactly does "commoner's English" sound like? Well, not sound, but what's their manner of speaking? What words do they use or don't use? Is there a specific nuance or mannerism that I should know about?)) L a d y - R o s a l i n e

(((I have no idea. Only British English speech I've ever heard comes from tv and movies...)))
"Thank goodness for that." Eduard replied teasingly. "I would think I had lost my mind if I went outside, only to hear the gardener addressing the rose bushes as if they were his subjects." He paused. "Though, now that I think about it, that is sort of what it truly is like..." violet eyes focused on the actor. "Promise me you won't be ordering the roses into battle any time soon."

P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter put on a face of mock offense. "Battle? I can assure you that my garden is at peace. Everyone is friends with the other, and it is the ideal image of the world." Peter crossed his arms. "So promising you that wouldn't be so hard." A small smile crept over the young actor's face before he burst into a sprightly fit of laughter. Peter's voice had already taken on his old accent, sounding just like 'commoners' do. It was a stark change from how he had just been speaking before, but Peter fell into it easily.L a d y - R o s a l i n e

Smiling himself, glad to have made Peter laugh, Eduard shook his head in his own mirth, "Good, because if I see a rose charging after a lily, thorns bared for battle, then I'm going to have to re-think this gardening hobby of yours." the Marquess teased, laughing softly himself. Hearing the way Peter spoke was odd... but seemed... well... natural for the young man. And completely unnatural for a Marquess. Eduard realized right then, that he had as much to learn about a common life... as Peter did of an aristocratic one.

P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter was about to reply when their carriage came to a stop. He looked out in the little window, all too curious to see the place that he hadn't been to for a while. Peter laughed when he saw the wrinkled tailor walking around from behind the counter, never in a rush to do anything. "Just as I remembered..." It was a good place to shop at for commoners' clothing, and Peter's mother came there often for the Winters household clothing. He turned to Eduard. "We're here, sir."L a d y - R o s a l i n e
