Ulysses nodded. He wasn't quite sure where he was going with this but... well, he was something of a doctor- he could figure it out. "You really shouldn't feel pressured or uneasy, Thomas. I understand it may be difficult given past experience, but each creature on this Earth is its own." His gaze wandered toward Gloria and the roly-poly of a ground-type.
Gloria likewise watched the sandshrew complete its circuit twice; the third time around she put out a paw to stop him then gave a fair shove in Ulysses's direction. It came to rest against his boot, and he in turn gave it a gentle nudge toward Thomas. "At the very least, he deserves a name. And again, there's no pressure, but it's something to think about."
Then another voice arose, and he turned to see a young girl. "I believe Bogdan and the Oaks are all in the same place, young lady." He rose to his feet, and his knee took a moment to remind him once more that he was aging; with the power of the rose, however, what normally would have elicited a groan provoked a quiet sigh instead. He stuck out his hand to Juno. "Ulysses Shonevsky. And you are...?" His eyes passed over the group, implying that it was meant for all of them. As soon the old man and young woman had made their introductions, Ulysses would make the same gesture to the others.

((A quick public apology for my recent behavior. My long winded-ness/repeating some things in my posts or freaking about the length, I've been part of RPs that have booted me for not putting up long enough posts or not being clear enough on what my character did and s**t like that, so I'm just trying to avoid being kicked from an RP I enjoy. I talked with Mr. Blackbird Lore though so, I'll take a breath before my next post XD))
Ramsden took hold of Ulysses' hand, not noticing he had originally offered it to Juno and shook. "AM2 Ramsden, former sailor in the United States Navy. I guess you could say I've been appointed one of this girls guardians. Good to meet you there." Ramsden took his hand with a firm grasp and shook it. He returned to his position behind Juno and waited casually for Willam to do the same, and then simply observe what would be happening.

[[So far our GM has been pretty fair about that stuff, so hopefully you won't run into those sort of problems... @Enradus: Yay! Someone else into Rangers enough to bring them in!]]
Lexi snickered at Lorenzo’s description of the last few years with Flora as she continued to scrub at Rex’s belly. “Still…gotta be nice to have grown up with her…” Yeah, she was slightly envious. It was funny how things had gotten so crazy between them, though she still couldn’t understand how he had gotten a grass-typed vulpix…Ah well, she wasn’t getting any more information that way, and he said something else that interested her. She leaned back on her hands. “A Pokemon Ranger huh? When I was younger, I wanted to be a Ranger when I grew up. Actually, I still do, but not sure if they even still exist… One of my best ‘grown-up friends’ back then was a Ranger, and it always seemed like she had the coolest job…Lost track of her with the Calamity though…” The woman had saved her life, but vanished back into the world before the girl had reawoken back in Woodmount…trapped there for the next six years.
She looked back to Alex. “So wait, you weren’t Rex’s first trainer either? Huh…” She looked down at the houndour sprawled in her lap. “So how many owners have you had boy?” She couldn’t help wondering about the dog’s past now…No wonder the fight at the bunker had come so naturally: Rex was the most experienced of the three of them. “How long have you had your Pokemon for, Alex?”

Juno was about to take the offered handshake but Ramsden beat her to the punch. It was a little rude to cut in like that, but the old man before them had asked his question to everyone. She bit the side of her cheek to keep from saying anything. Better not make enemies if I can. After all, Ramsden was one of her "guardians." Still annoyed. Okay so maybe she was being childish, but really, she liked the fact that there was at least one adult that looked at her like she was capable of taking care of herself and Ramsden interrupted that moment!
She gave a tight smile when Ramsden finished his introduction. She took Ulysses' offered hand and gave a strong shake. Her dad once said you could learn a lot about a person from the way they shook hands. She wasn't too sure about that, but maybe that was just a guy thing. "I'm Juno Galladeigh. Nice to meet you." There - a short, sweet and to the point introduction. She'd been a bit annoyed that she never got the specific place where the Oaks and Bogdan were but it was possible that the man didn't know. I guess I'm going to look around and leave the adults to talk. No sir, there was no bitterness at that thought whatsoever.
Well, maybe not yet. There was still a kid who'd yet to say hi and she was curious about him. While she was cynical towards adults, she held hope in kids and teens (which may or may not have anything to do with her younger siblings). "Hi there. What's your name?" Hmmm. I wonder where you're from.
--------
Alex smiled and squeezed Flora slightly in a hug. "That's a very sweet story." She wanted to laugh at the thought of a burnt room but she empathized with that. Young Rex was a difficult pokemon. Why did it have to be my shoes every. Single. Time?
Speaking of Rex, Lexi asked a question about him. "He had at least two. He got trained by an Exterminant person before he was given to me. I think they meant to ingrain loyalty to the Exterminant before loyalty to the trainer within him. Seeing how much he likes you, I can say that their methods never worked," she ended with a smile. "I received him when I was..." she paused. She didn't remember. Hm. I know I wrote it down somewhere in my journal. Good thing I brought it. She carefully set the fox-like pokemon down before taking off her back pack. She revealed out a worn thin leather book. "Let's see...I got him two and a half years ago."
She then flipped closer to the front of the book. "Giddy has been with me since I was 9. I think. Maybe 10? I found him and it took so long to name him. I wanted to name him Gibblespear, but my mother thought Giddy would be preferable. I don't know why." It was becoming readily apparent that Alex was terrible at naming things and should never be given the power to do so. Poor absol. "He's been my constant friend. I'm not sure what I'd do without him."
Since everyone was sitting, she thought she'd do the same. She leaned against the wall and stretched out her legs. They were then pinned down by the absol who apparently decided her legs would make a comfortable bed. Is this an affectionate touch or a possessive? 'Cause if it's possessive, I don't think this will end well. She very gently pet the absol and he seemed pleased by her actions. Another possibility was that he figured he had the human under his command. I get the feeling we're going to have a lot of power struggles. That was fine; the absol would quickly learn that Alex was his equal. She would be treated as his equal. If he didn't like that, she had all that pent up rage to use against him. "I don't think he likes my names very much. What would you suggest?" She looked at everyone as she said this. I think if I give him anymore names he'll bite my head off. Literally. If he didn't like Foofoocuddlypoofs, I doubt he'll like the equally adorable Piddlywinks.

Lorenzo had to laugh when he heard Lexi's wish to grow up with her Pokemon.
"It's reeeeaaally not all it's cracked up to be. I mean look at us. Eh, Flor?"
Flora looked at him, flexed a muscle in its forehead, then laid back against Alex nestling into her arms. Lorenzo motioned to the Vulpix in a nonchalant manner.
"See? She knows me waaay too well. And she's developed facial expressions for the sole purpose of deriding my every word and action, even if I do give her reason to."
At her next comment though on Rangers, he nodded in agreement. Everyone had been into Rangers when he was younger, why wouldn't they? They were practically real-life heroes, and not just those commercials where they would show the policeman and firemen and stuff. They seemed to be able to tackle any Pokemon and take care of it with ease. But while everyone else had liked Rangers...
"I was actually more into the Pokemon Daycare when I was younger. I... sort of want to start one if we ever recover."
His father had been in charge of a daycare before everything now, working a small one right next to their house. It seemed as if no matter how feral a beast came into his care, it would leave tame and even miss his father. He'd befriended more Pokemon than he could count, and Lorenzo dreamt of the day when he could do the same.
As for the Absol's name, Lorenzo shrugged.
"Hmm... you look like a... Robert? I dunno. I'm bad with names."

Gerard chuckled softly as Lorenzo related his story about Flora. To have grown up with a pokemon that became his partner after the Calamity...Gerard had had his family, but no pokemon.
"Daycare?" he asked, startling everyone by actually speaking voluntarily. "I always wanted to be a Gym Leader. Only briefly, before I moved on to be a member of the Elite Four." Lofty dreams for the quiet shop kid, but not entirely unimaginable.
The young man looked at the absol for a moment in silence before shrugging at Alex. "Name it something that's important to you. That's how I do it, and it shows the bond you have with your partner."

“Huh…” Lexi shrugged when Alex said Rex had had a third trainer, but then the girl snorted a laugh. “…yeah, I definitely think they failed.” She rubbed the belly of the houndour in question as Alex hunted down dates. For all that he was an Exterminant slave that had nearly torn her to pieces that morning, he had also turned out to be such a dog…Dog’s play drive and dog’s loyalty to individuals.
Lexi smirked as Flora shot another degrading look Lorenzo’s way. “Hey, most of my friends are screen names transmitting from Russia and the Aussie Outback. I could use some more local relationships…” She had a few friends in Woodmount, but most of the people she knew were friends only as far as their own motives let them be.
She listened as the two boys said what they wanted to do if the world ever got back together. “Daycare would be fun too…I wanted to work with pokemon, but wasn’t a huge fan of the fights…However, Gerard, if you ever end up in Woodmount, you should look up my dad…He was on the training circuit for years until my sister was born, and beat a few League Champions when he was at the top of his career.” To her, Gerard’s dreams didn’t seem that odd: her dad had gotten close, and hadn’t she, the bookworm of the crew, just said she aspired to be a Ranger when she could barely hold her own in a handicapped fight!
As far as absol names went... “Well, with Phoenix, I got the idea from two ways…the first was how her evolved form looks like the legendary bird in many ways…the other was, for me, she represented a bit of a restart…a possible way out of the ashes the Calamity made of the world…I guess, just go through ideas until one really sticks, though I definitely recommend names of two syllables or less for practical reasons…Having to call Foofoocuddlypoops in the middle of a fight is less than conveinient.”

"From Russia and Aussie, huh? That's pretty crazy. But not unheard of. Heck, I used to have friends in England before I lost my laptop. You can guess how I lost that little item. *cough*Flora*cough*"
When he heard Foofoocuddlypoops, he nearly died.
"I'm pretty sure that some uppity person might name their Snubbull. Even a Persian or a Skitty would be more suitable to that name."
He got an idea.
"Hey, how 'bout you just compromise? You could shorten it down to Foo. you could just keep his real name in the back of your mind, or if he starts acting up."
He sniggered as he thought of Alex threatening the Absol with the use of his real name in front of other Pokemon.

"Is he...dead?" Vivian asked, approaching the prone body slowly and with her gun pointed at its center. She was not really looking forward to dealing with a ghost or some crap. Not right now, and not ever, really.
She nudged him with a toe after nodding at Maddy and Smiffy to keep back and alert.

Ulysses ignored the little mix-up. With introductions and pleasantries out of the way, he was about to lead them to Sigmund and Edward Oak when he was reminded of young Mr. Rikes. Shonevsky instead added, "Whenever you all are ready, I can take you to the Oaks, though I can't promise much of an audience; they've been extremely busy as of late."

Maddy ignored the nod and approached the body, kneeling by the shoulder she put one hand to his neck "Not dead, though I reckon he could be pretty easy." With her other hand she took his hat and placed it upon her head before standing up "One thing is for certain though, I am not carrying him."

The blond patiently waited as Willam gave his introduction. Ooookay. So either new kid is very shy, has major problems, or just doesn't like me. None of those reasons made her dislike him any less. That would be highly hypocritical of her to call out on him when she was the same way (albeit a bit louder than him). Her curiosity of the Thomas was overridden by her determination to see the Professors. "Thanks for the offer to take us there. I believe we're all ready to go."
----------
Alex listened to the kids' suggestions and stared at the angry absol. Said albino was glaring hellfire at Lorenzo for his suggestion (like HELL if he was going to be known as Foofoocuddlypoops or any variation of it). "I do like Foo..." It was doomed. "But no. I think I'll go with Lance. Is that manly enough for you?"
Apparently Lance loved his new name because he actually stopped glaring and growling. Lance. Comes from balance, which is fitting since he's the yin yang pokemon. Lance didn't seem to care for her reasoning, he was just happy he would not be subjected to an idiotic name. Alex smiled and cuddled with Flora. She'd have liked to do it to Lance she knew he wasn't ready for that kind of interaction. Not yet.

Vivian's lip curled as Maddy ignored her very simple signal and approached the body. After clenching one hand into a fist and taking several deep breaths - in, out, in out - Vivian sighed and stood, dusting off her knee.
"Not dead, huh? Check his pockets for anything useful. I'll carry him; it's always good to have someone owe you their life."
---
Gerard nodded. "Lance. It's a good name." He nodded at Lance in recognition of his new title.
"Now that that's done, I believe we should all get comfortable for the night. We can visit the Drs. Oak in the morning - for now I think we can get to know each other better and take some time to recover from our trip." It was subtly noticeable now that Gerard was more shaken from their adventure than he let on - he appeared drained, and when he wasn't talking he was drifting into contemplative silence. He was capable of taking lives in the defense of others without flinching, but he was not capable of forgetting that he had done it, or what it meant. He did not look forward to doing it again, prepared as he was to do it, but it was a sad inevitability.
His sisters were happily preparing iced tea and coffee cakes. They were put out at the table and the girls politely excused themselves with assurances that they were just a shout away. Gerard smiled after them as they left, truly happy to be home.

Lorenzo nodded to Gerard's suggestion. He felt as if he hadn't actually rested at all since they had been eating in that once place, and this seemed as appropriate a time as any to start up again. When Gerard's sisters talked of their availability, however, a certain sadness grew in his heart. He had had a sister as well, just as amiable as these, and liked to make horrible pancakes. But he would eat them anyway... Putting the thought out of his mind, he took a coffee cake and a fork, thanking them.
Flora cuddled back into Alex, letting out a small mewl.
"Mewling? So you're a lap cat now?"
The Vulpix shot a glance at Lorenzo, eyes glaring even in their opaque nature.
"Eh, never mind."
Flora "hmph"ed, and continued to delve into the girl's arms.
