"I won't help you. I can't help you. I have no more information for you, so if you want to get killed so badly, then jump back in her way, I don't care what you do, as long as it doesn't involve me."

The man grabbed the strap on his shoulder tightly, tugging at the oilskin-wrapped weapon slung behind him.

Iri alights upon the Dojo roof. Light from her orbs of chakra chase away the shadows. Nothing is revealed, though. Iri doesn't even see the boy and the stranger walking away. She's too busy scanning the trees around the area of the Kaze Dojo tram. But there's nothing. Only the peepers and the fireflies.

With the exception of three that hover around Iri's person, the chakra orbs extinguish. Iri sighs and moves to sit on the edge of the roof. If Jin's around, he can take care of himself. Maybe she'll wait till the morning to go back to the Kaze Dojo? She did tell Seph to meet her at her Dojo, but he'll probably show up here first. So, why not make the trip a little shorter for him? Besides, it's a nice night to sleep on a roof. Doing that at the Kaze Dojo is a little difficult.

White wings wrap themselves around Iri. She looks ghostly as she sits there, staring up at the stars, surrounded by orbs of her own chakra.

"You're lying," he says simply. However, he goes along with the man's stance on the matter, shrugging and turning on his heel. He scratches the back of his head, pondering whether to venture out or go back.

The man disappears into the forest as soon as he's out of the kid's sight, relieved to be free of the pest.

A buzzing catches Iri's attention. In her peripheral vision, she sees a mosquito winging its way toward her. She unhooks a fan from her belt and holds it up. As soon as the mosquito is in range, she snaps the fan open and gives it a firm slap. A tiny, bloody corpse mars the side of her fan. She rubs the stain off with the back of a cloth wrapped hand, chuckling all the while. When she's done, she begins to fall herself to keep cool and chase away the biters.

Bored, she begins to hum to herself. It's a lively tune, something she used to stop and listen to every time she heard it play. The song hasn't reached her ears in a few years, now.

I should find the CD and get myself a player for it. I don't think Kaimen would mind a small addition to the electricity usage.

Iri chuckles at the thought of Kaimen throwing a fit over a few dollars worth added to his more than likely substantial bills. As she laughs, Iri reaches out and draws her name in the air. A bit of chakra glowing at her fingertip brings the letters to life as she draws in cursive handwriting "Irianna Gale". Her name is pretty to write, she thinks, but it's a mouthful and a little too formal for her taste. Continuing to play with the brightness, and now drawing things like leaves, feathers, and birds, she lets her mind wander to her element. She feels it's time to develop a new trick.

Dalcon gives a bit of a huff as he walks back toward the dojo. He enters the Main Room with his typical -breach-and-clear-where-is-the-Youkai style, despite the fact he can sense none.

Iri gives her head a tilt. An idea has come to mind. The dark woman is going to be tough to fight. Thats much Iri is certain. But she has to have a weakness. The air bombs did damage, but that damage didn't last long. Besides, she'll be expecting those again. Even if Iri can repeat the attack, she won't hesitate as long this time. If she hesitates at all. She's fast, too. Iri's Kaze techniques can't keep up with her mastery of Rai. The woman is all speed, electricity, and sharp blades. So, how does Iri combat that?

The air bombs might come in handy. There's something I've never tried with them. I've never had a good target on which to practice. I won't be afraid to kill this one, so I can go all out with it, too. She would have slaughtered that kid, had no one been around to stop her. And so I really don't feel guilty.

Violet eyes cast a glance at the ground. There's just enough light emitted by her chakra orbs for her to see Dalcon enter the Main Dojo. So the kid's still around? That surprises her. She would expect one that young to have been scared by a brush of death enough to run off. Especially if he claims Reeve isn't his father. If he holds to that statement, then why would he come here?

With a push of her hands, Iri slips from the Dojo roof. She lands with little sound, not even opening her wings. Humming to herself again, Iri enters the Dojo. Her chakra orbs extinguish as she enters the lighted building. Though this one really has nothing to do with her, she's curious.

With a whir, Dalcon turns around, blade leveled on his shoulder, green scar muted by the lights. "Oh..." he says apologetically, lowering his weapon. "Sorry."

Iri grins and snickers at the young one's reaction. She holds up one hand, showing that it's empty, and keeps her naginata in its resting position. Then she lets her hand drop and performs a small bow from her waist with a flourish of that hand.

"No need for apologies! I should have announced myself"

She straightens up and gives a comforting smile. "Besides, kid," she remembers his preference of titles, "I don't blame you. Creepy almost did you in."

Iri keeps walking until there's about ten feet of distance between herself and Dalcon. "So, you here to job shadow a ninja? I didn't know this is what schools thought of as 'studying abroad'."
PostPosted: Sun Jul 19, 2009 9:15 pm

"More the distance rather than the occupation," he says with a shrug. "That, and normal school just doesn't...do it. Not for me."

He keeps his distance, but holds his hands and weapon by his side. It's probably the most non-hostile he's yet been.
"And...I mean, d'you know what a school nurse would do if she saw this bad boy?" He points a finger to the emerald scrape.

"I think your typical school nurse would s**t a brick." Iri doesn't bother to censor herself. She just laughs a little at the dry humor. This one had already proven to have a mouth on him. Most kids do, it seems. She's probably not going to be the one that sets him straight. "So, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you? You seem a little young to be traveling on your own."

Iri moves her naginata so its butt is against the floor and leans on the weapon. It's just an act of being lazy.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 19, 2009 9:24 pm

"I dunno," he says with a note of confusion. "Old enough...." He looks at his fingers, wiggling them as if he were counting, but the act is just that. "No matter how old I am, I have to be as old as I look..."

Iri blinks. The kid's response is odd. Very odd.

"Ya say you don't know how old you are? Okay. If you say so." Wings shrug in indifference. She would think that's basic knowledge of one's self. But, she knows nothing of this kid. There is probably a very good reason behind the lack of knowledge.

"Well, I think I'm about to turn in for the night. I need to sleep on a few things."

She sits up straight and returns her naginata to its resting position.

"Anything I can help you with first?"

"Yeah. Thank you for saving me, Miss Iri," he says, a shy note in his voice. However, it hardens as he looks at her, narrowing his eyes. "But leave her to me."

Iri sticks her tongue out at him. She's only teasing him, of course. "Apparently, you don't like 'Dalcon', so I'll keep using nicknames as long as you don't call me 'Miss' anything. It's just 'Iri'. Short for Irianna. Irianna Gale."

The avian's eyes take on a hint of concern. She takes a few steps closer so Dalcon can see her expression change from a light-hearted smile to carefully neutral and sober. "And I don't suggest it, boy. Unless you've got something big up your sleeve, which I highly doubt from someone so young, then leave things as they are. I plan to make her regret what she did to you. It wasn't right, and she needs to know it."

She knows the boy probably won't listen. She was the same way as a kid. They're all stubborn. So, she presents a compromise in advance. "I'll tell ya what. She'll probably look for me at the Kaze Dojo. If you want, you can hang out there and wait for her along with me. But, I'll chase you out of there if you don't swear to me that you'll only interfere if it looks like I'm getting my a** kicked. How's that?"
