Donovan had to really think about that, because on one sense he hadn't seen the kid in like... a very long time. In fact the kid was probably not a kid anymore. That being said it was possiblefor Adonijah to 'beat' Ruran up, but he was pretty sure Aliya would have Adonijah's hide.
Which left the choice that Ruran attacked first but this was Celebor's kid. Celebor was... Celebor, granted Ruque seemed a lot more docile than the hyper active kid he knew. Though giving said kid sugar probably did not help things.
"Ah.... well that makes things interesting," Donovan realized that the kids had been brought in at this point by Miyu and the others, "Why do we go inside and talk more? Perhaps about your siblings? Or your mother? Or maybe how this house building business is going?"
He ushered Ruque inside.
"Do you like sugar?"
This was true and Lin knew it. It made her wonder why she couldn't settle for a normal safe job like normal people. Then she realized that having a normal safe job like normal people would drive her crazy.
"I know..." she replied, "Just give me time."

Ruque beamed and skipped along with Donovan happily. "Well, Mama was worried when Papa said we were going to move here, but now that we're here she's feeling lots better. Ulani lets her help out with lots of things, she helps in the garden and with the laundry and the cleaning - it's the first time we've ever lived in a house, you know," he added wisely. "We used to live in a cave. It was really nice there, but I like Ulani and Ulrich's house better."
He blinked up at Donovan. "What's sugar?"
Timaeus nodded and hugged Lin again. "All the time you need," he murmured, taking her into the house.

Donovan had to remind himself they had lived in the Seconds world, which meant certain foods they had probably never tried. He dipped his hand into one of his outer pockets and pulled out a pouch Celebor would have been very familiar with as a child. He then pulled out a yellow lump of sugar and handed it to Ruque.
"It's a sweet thing, sometimes yellow, sometimes brown, sometimes white depending on how it was extracted from the plant. You eat it, it's used to make other types of food."
She smiled up at him as she stepped in, the sudden weight on her body made her decide to screw it and just go up and sleep.
"Thank you," she murmured glad he had offered before the trip to be there.

Ruque took the candy from Donovan and looked it over from every angle before popping it into his mouth.
"It's good," he grinned, sucking on it. "Where's it come from?"
"Straight upstairs?" Timaeus asked. "You'll drown if you attempt a bath. And don't worry about getting the bed dirty, Haradhel will wash it tomorrow before you have to sleep in it again."

"Sugarcane plant," Donovan replied, "Though it doesn't start out looking like that. There are people who harvest it and turn it into sugar."
Of course he didn't know the exact process but he recalled chewing on the stuff as a kid, of course you couldn't really eat the plant just chew on it.
"Straight up," Lin replied, "I won't even try that."
Though she had a funny feeling she would wash not caring if the water was cold once she got up. That was the other thing she wasn't use to... the grubbiness of it all.

Ruque grinned and kept sucking on the candy. "I wonder if we can grow that here," he mused as he headed towards the playroom, where the other children were. "Mama's already trying some stuff from home."
Haradhel was already working with Miyu to sort out the children and learn their names, and when Donovan came into the room with Ruque she smiled at him. "Unadventurous trip?"
Timaeus smiled and turned to help Lin up the stairs. "Want me to carry you?" he asked her quietly. "It would be safer than you tripping over your own feet."
Which he could already visualize. Not that she was clumsy by nature, but she was just so exhausted ...

"Probably not, it needs really warm climate to grow," Donovan replied, "You can maybe ask Ulrich nicely about it the next time he needs to make a trip to the nearest town. Maybe... it's a bit of a luxury here."
Gaia, he recalled took a lot of stuff for granted. He shrugged wehn Haradhel asked.
"Well as unadventurous as it can get," he replied.
So normal amount of danger, but it was normal, therefore nothing really adventurous about it.
She would have rather gone up the stairs herself, after all she hadn't needed to be carried since she was really little. However, she knew falling on those stairs wouldn't be good, a person could lose their teeth like that.
"Err.. yea... good point."

As Ruque moved to interact with the children, Haradhel stepped back to talk to Donovan.
"How did Lin do?" she asked quietly. "It was her first time out ..."
She wanted to know that Lin was all right - obviously she woudl be exhausted, but what about emotionally?
Timaeus turned and hefted Lin onto his back, holding her under her knees. "Wrap your arms around my neck," he instructed her; and then he started up the stairs towards the floor where Lin would be staying.

He paused and thought about it, he had been a bit more prepared for having Lin there after Celebor.
"She did fine during it all," he replied, "At the moment though she hasn't been sleeping well, well except I suppose now she'll be out like light. Not too different from Celebor's first, it'll be another few days before any of us knows how it really is."
Looking over Timaeus' shoulder Lin couldn't help but note how high up she was. Of course she was on his back and even with him bent over he was still very tall. To her anyways.

Haradhel nodded. "Well, we'll all be keeping an eye on her while she's here," she said softly. "I assume you'll be going back to Kara right away ... you will tell her hello from all of us, won't you?"
When Timaeus got to Lin's room, he knelt next to the bed and gently shifted her to the bed. He knelt down to gently remove her boots and set them on the floor, then pulled the blanket over her and tucked her in.

"Well...." Donovan trailed off eyeing Ruque, "I was thinking staying an extra day or two. Ruque has my curiousity peaked and besides Kara will whack me if she finds out Celebor and his family is here and I didn't bother to find out how they're doing. No one's really heard of them for a long while.. well Celebor. Most of us haven't even met anyone besides Aras."
This was not a lie, he was pretty sure she would whack him, and while Kara never could hit hard he was also learning via some poor unfortunate souls that pissing off Kara now was a bad idea.
Stupid Scott.
Lin seemed to sigh as she burrow under the blanket, she hated boots. It was going to be nice to have her feet breath again. She only got to enjoy it for a moment before she just passed out.

Haradhel smiled. "And of course Kara would never know the difference if you stayed an extra day or two," she murmured with a nod. "Of course."
She looked at the children. "Well, Ruque will be staying here until the end of the day at least," she murmured. "He's quite interested in becoming a healer, I'm told ... but Alyse will be taking him back to the valley tonight. I'm sure everyone would love if you headed over there as well. And I don't think you've met Ecthelion yet, I'm sure he would be glad to meet you as well."
Timaeus smiled softly, and as soon as he was sure that Lin was asleep, he turned and left the room silently.

"No, I haven't met Ecthelion yet neither," Donovan murmured thoughtfully.
And no doubt Feng and Ryu (Feng especially) will have lots to say about the little boy.
"That sounds like a good idea," he agreed, "I'll do that then."

Haradhel smiled. "Arahad has food in the kitchen if you'd like something to eat before you rest," she said softly. "I've got baths drawn, but they were intended first for the children. Your bed is always ready for you. Make sure you rest well."
She turned her attention back to the children and added cryptically, "You'll need it."

Why did Donovan have the sudden feeling he was going to take a nosedive? He blinked at her words and decided that perhaps he would grab a bite to eat and take a nap. He could bath later before taking Ruque back.
He doubted he was going to sleep the whole day anyhow... that would just mess up his sleeping patterns.
Meanwhile Miyu was trying to confidently tend to each child checking for injuries and sickness. She knew how to use all of the medicines and unlike Cindy could rely on magic if medicine would not do. It helped Saki was there making herself an adorable distraction.
