Broog blinked at him, before giving his big grin, and closed his trunk and got himself up off the ground.
"broog like food, and find elf dat can make da shiny cloth into shiny pretty dressy ting for da mistress. Broog not very gud at dat. broog make gud shiny metal tings, not gud cloth tings."

Lhia didn't have much else to say after that. That child had just charmed and won over the elf before her and did it twice more with another dress for Lhia in a sparkling blue stretchy fabric that she knew was going to cling and show off her various flaws and a bright red that was slashed in various places and way too old for the child but Krymsyn had wanted and had to have. And all for an extremely small amount of mythril, too. "Okay, Krymsyn, that's quite enough. Thank the nice elf and let's go back to Ty and Trys. I don't think they're having as much fun as we are."
On cue the child curtsied prettily and took the small package she was handed with a squeal of delight. "Thank yous!" And then it was time to skip happily back over and tug on the Brigade Master's hand. "Master Ty, we gotta go back so I can show you my dress now." And so she could convince Lhia to put hers on, too.

"Well then, let's get you some food and a tailor." He blinked as apparently the women were done shopping. "We'll get some food out and then we'll head back and you can show me your pretty dress, how's that sound?" Giving a tug on the child's hand to get her following and motioning Broog to follow with the other. Of course it wasn't any hardship to find those two things for the ogre, or get him to reasonably engage in trade negotiations this time. Though a grin to Lhia. "Hope she didn't pick your pockets too deep."

"Good!" Much like any other child who'd been promised exactly what she wanted, she was excited and impatient to actually get it. Every once in a while she'd run off to one of the many vendors along the path but she always returned in a short period of time and ushered them forward once again.
If they were comparing the amount of fabric to the cost, then it was a fortune. But Lhia simply shook her head. "She's very good at bartering and haggling. Has to do with her demeanor, I think. Did you know she has the innocent act down pat?" Letting Ty settle Broog, she watched the two children and then began glancing around for a tavern. "Will she eat anything up here? She wasn't too thrilled with lunch..."

Broog was happy to oblige and lumber along and try to tell the tailor the kind of things piper seemed to like. he wasn't doing very well...until he was handed a pad and paper in a rough stickfigurish manner kinda of gave an idea of the kind of thing Broog saw piper wear in these colors...and the merchant was trying to give broog back some of the jewelry because in broog's excitement that things were working he'd just grabbed a handful out of his trunk and dumped it on the poor merchant's counter. and a broog handful was more then enough to probably get ten or fifteen outfits made even if the merchant was trying to price gouge him, which he wasn't...but he certainly didn't want an episode like earlier were someone refusing his 'shinies' made him upset.

"Just take it as a tip. I'm sure you'll be doing a marvelous job anyway. We can all use a little spoiling of our pockets from time to time as far as I'm concerned." Patting the other elf on the shoulder and letting his attention slide back to more entertaining things. "I do hope I brought enough to cover her spending habits." Giving Lhia a grin and a shake of his head. "I'm not surprised, and she'll eat. That whole thing earlier was all an act."

"I wouldn't be concerned about that, Ty. You shouldn't give her everything she asks for anyway. On principle, at least once, you should say no and mean no. Whether it's clothes, jewelry, a certain type of food she wants, doesn't matter. Just say the word and mean it." Lhia had thought as much of the lunchtime debacle but wanted to make sure she wasn't making unfair judgments. "In that case, the tavern up ahead is one of my favorites. Come along children."

Broog lumbered along behidn the kids, considering the 'children' comment to mean him too since Ty had offered to feed him for his good work. but once they were in the tavern, he sat on teh floor, really not trusting the chairs to hold his weight.

"You say it like I don't know how to say no to her." Shaking his head but letting Krymsyn more or less push them all to the tavern, Broog included, the pack of them getting settled in a corner of the tavern so Broog had enough personal space. "Please remember that our eyes are often bigger than our stomachs. No sense in wasting food."

Lhia felt a bit uncomfortable sitting at the table with the two children on one side and Ty next to her while Broog was on the floor. A few heads turned when they walked in and she felt a telltale turning in her stomach. Consequently, she didn't eat very much at all and was generally quiet throughout the meal.
Krymsyn, on the other hand, ordered a large meal to split with Trys and jabbered on excitedly about her new dress, the latest party she went to, and her mother's new playtoy which was actually just a young Obsidian whom she'd been dallying with lately. Khaiver was still in the picture but Krymsyn knew that her mother took extreme pleasure in flaunting younger men in front of her longtime lover. "How come grown ups do that, Master Ty? She's doin' it to be mean and I know she is. Sometimes Khaiver even clenches his jaw like he's upset but he'd never let her see it."

"Because dos in da power gotta make sure dat dos dat dey rule know is da boss. da dark man get upset, but not do nuttin and dat means dat yous moms still got da powers. and dat makes yous moms happy."
before back to eating. Broog was eating enough that probably most elves were wondering how anything survived with any kind of population of these creatures around.

Kids were all about chitter chatter as per usual. He listened polietly, searching things in what she was talking about that would need to be corrected in her thinking and the like. It was all about tempering. "Broog is right in this case. It's like bragging, to make people want to be better than what is being shown. Therefore they do better but the problem is that it is for the wrong motivation. Eat your food."

"Well, that's just silly. Especially since she tells my aunt how much better Khaiver is." Taking a few more bites as she digested some of what Broog and Master Ty had said and then continuing. "Couldn't she do the same thing by telling Khaiver instead? Or would that make her give up her power?" Frowning a she thought that over and ate some more.
"She probably thinks it would and that's why she doesn't. Besides, Milady doesn't want milord to know. She likes seeing him like that."

"If'n da dark man know dat the udders not as good, or dat dey don't mean nuttin, he wunt care bout dem. if he dunno, den he has to make sure dat he do his best all da time, cause den he dunno if do not as good mean he get raypaced."
Broog gave that a thought.
"Like da master, before da mistress come. da peoples dat do real goods, dey get special tings. like real good basher, dey get to make other lil bashers. Or when dey gotta bash other bashers, dey gets armor."

"Both right boys. It's all power play between people. Your mother may hold her sister in confidence but that does not mean that she wants anyone else to know." Giving a look to the little elf across from him. "However, just because that works doesn't mean it's the best thing to do. You want your people to trust you so you can rule them well."
