@wolfen26: Just hit the link in your post at the top of the page, i've been thinking about expanding my emergency resources stockpile recently thanks for the good idea's.
I've just been super busy with work lately, between working a combination of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift all in the same week and making it to my ENT appointment and getting my grandmother to her doctors appointments and attempting to see friends still i've had little to no time to be on gaia/the internet in general. The good news is that i have disposable income again and i'm not just barely paying my bills im actually saving some money for the vehicle repair fund. On top of that on the 18th i get my ears cleaned out presumably one last time before they put me on a steroid based ear drop regimen to help finish healing everything. My grandmother is home from the hospital and enjoying being back in her own bed, the plants have all been started in the mini greenhouse and it looks like we'll be transplanting the seedlings into bigger containers soon and then into the garden around mid may. Oh and to top it all off on sunday the 10th i turned 23. So Yeehaw i'm getting old lol. I think that's about it so i'll be around when i've got some free time.

@ Teh_Plague: Glad to see your post! I know things have been a little windy up your way-----! Happy Birthday! The 10th was my Granddaddy's birthday, and he was quite something. He and my Grandmother built their own house, and his place of business, with their own hands. They raised a family during the dustbowl/Depression days in Oklahoma with no help from anyone, yet helped many others in their lifetimes. He would never tell us that he loved us, but he showed us every day.
@ Wolfen: Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Sounds like a sales talk line from an insurance company that I worked for once! LOL! It's absolutely true.
Everyone: Tornadoes everywhere! Everyone okay out there?
@ Horses: The link you posted in the link dump is one of my favorites!
@ Dragon: Glad there are amaryllis left!

Everyone: Tornadoes everywhere! Everyone okay out there? Well, that line is very true. That is why I have a vehicle kit, in case of emergency, or is I just want to use it. I once pulled over at a park and made my lunch using my vehicle kit. It was a long day and I had not eaten yet. I have a metal military canteen cup, sterno and sterno stove, bottles of water and an freeze dried mountain house pouch of lasagna. I was able to enjoy a hot lunch right out the back of my truck right there. Oh and everything is good here so far. No twisters yet.

I can't remember a time when we didn't have all kinds of stuff in the car. It started with a plastic box that held first-aid stuff. Then we added another one with all those little packages of condiments and salt and pepper from our weekly trip for fast food. Then finally a box of fishing lures, a telescoping rod and reel, charcoal, and a little grill. Then water. Then a tent........a single mom has to be ready, you know! Of course, the flashlight, radio, etc., too. There's always food in the console and blankets in the back, along with towels and sunscreen. I used to get nasty comments from people, but not anymore.
As to what have you made lately, I've been cutting wine bottles down for tea glasses and they will work well here----small hands, big wind, and hot! I bought a new 6-foot stepladder to use for painting the house, which is what I'm doing again when the weather allows. I also bought 2- 10' lengths of drywall corner bead to use as a sort of easel for multipanel paintings, which I'm finally learning to do in acrylics! They are just fastened to the wall with finishing nails, easily adjusted and out of the reach of the cats! I learned that it's worth it to put premium gas in the old Volvo, increased gas mileage by 9 mpg!
The local weatherman had a good quote this morning, attributed to a local garden-shop owner-----"It's never too early to re-plant!" LOL The garden shops love the spring!

I did field work for my oceanography lab today. We got to go to the beach to look at the different beach structures that we learned about on Monday.
@sunsetsmile: The USGS website is an awesome site. I have been using it a lot lately to learn about groundwater and how humans are negativley impacting it.

My marimo of 1 year has finally decided to just to break apart on me while I was cleaning it. It pulled it gently apart, fluffed it and more or less turned it inside out for the lolz and tied a piece of string to keep it together, Eh. I'm not too worried.
Just a little sad that my ball of algae has broke a bit.
On another note: Suddenly very interested in making a mini windmill for myself, just for kicks, to maybe...move water when the wind blows for the garden.
Saw a few videos where someone took the design of a Windmill and the water pump to circulate their pond, using the same pond water, It was pretty neat.

Its 7:40 am here, i got home from work at 7am so i clocked an hour of overtime which is pretty nice. Worked out at my buddy's house the other day for the first time in nearly a year i did some weight lifting just to see where i was at as far as strength lost. One year ago when i was hitting the gym i could bench press 250lbs, so i wasn't sure where i'd be at the other day but i shocked myself and still put up 220lbs. Not bad for having no gym time but i'd really like to get back in shape...back to the point where i weigh less than what i can bench press lol.
I'm now going to go eat breakfast, pass out for about 3 hours then wake up and do all the daily running around. Theres a giant boulder in the middle of the hill in the back yard that probably weighs a good 160-180 pounds that a group of kids from the neighborhood managed to push up there so i'm going to push it off into the side of the yard off the top of the hill, Need to paint the grill and the smoker with high temp paint, do laundry, and cook a weeks worth of dinner's...i have a feeling something might not get done i'm just not sure what yet.
@wolfen: Our food supply has grown to the extent of filling 2 large kitchen cabinets, plus the pantry in the kitchen, and a shelving unit in the basement...and its growing lol. Plus my blazer if i ever get it up and running again has an emergency kit in it that includes food and water and shelter, and my sisters tiny little car contains some basic emergency supplies like bandaids/first aid stuff and all her roadside emergency type stuff. @sunset: it has been super windy up here lately, couple of times in the last week or so there have been trashcan's across the street from where they started and small branch's everywhere, power went out last night too.

Two nights ago I got a call from my cousin back home and learned that his brother has died. He had skin cancer and a tumor in his brain, I'm not sure which took him. I am punching myself for not visiting him before I moved like I had planned. Even though he was sick, this is very unexpected. You never really think that someone who was such a huge part of your child hood will die, but there it is.

@ Vanilla: I'm so sorry. There are no words to make you feel better. My brother died much too young, too. I still miss him.
@ Teh_Plague: I knew there were tornadoes up that way. Not knowing exactly where you are, I was really concerned about you! Storms here last night weren't too bad. There were tornado warnings north and south of us, but not here. Family is spread out over several states, but everyone is fine.
@Teh_Plague & Wolfen: Do you store food under beds, couches, etc.? You can get lots of stuff under there!
@ Esiris: Lemon thyme is wonderful! My husband brought home 2 big flats of herbs last night, all kinds of stuff. The pineapple sage is the best. It smells absolutely wonderful! There were so many seedlings in the pots of basil, parsley, and cilantro that I broke them up into smaller clumps and filled 12" pots. I just might have to take some of the thymes back and trade them for something else........eight different thymes, and not one that's culinary! No sweet marjoram yet, so maybe we'll trade for that when it comes in. Tete-a-tete daffodils and lilacs are finishing up, so the next thing to bloom will be the peonies. I can hardly wait.
Had to buy 1 more gallon of paint for the house, but that should finish it up. I'll be potting up most of those herbs today while one of the girls bakes cookies, and have to get out to check for storm damage later. We'll probably do lots of cooking today, it will keep us warm----this cool day will be gone tomorrow, then back to heat and waiting for the next storm system to roll through.
