(Yeah, sorry. I figured it was assumed. sweatdrop )
"Yes, I'm still awake," she managed through a clenched jaw. The arrow was a thick black barbed monstrosity, and had lodged itself in her chest. She tried to mask the Bond, but wasn't able.
"Sorry you have to feel it," she began, wincing in pain. "At least he didn't get you...he had a clear shot," she continued, babbling to keep the pain out of her mind unsuccessfully.

"Godamnit, Kiae." Cobain said shakily, running his hands over his face and through his hair. "That's what I'm here for, I'm your Warder. I should be on the ground with an arrow in my chest. It's barbed, isn't it? It's barbed. s**t. I'm going to have to cut it out if it's barbed." He rummaged through his pockets, looking for an herb that brought on a strong euphoria and deadened pain.

"Can you not drug me?" she asked dryly. "I've had worse...I think," she added thoughtfully with a frown. It was taking all her effort not to pass out, and wished Esole was around to Heal her again. "Just do it, I'll manage myself," she assured him.
"And just because you're my Warder doesn't mean I want to see you on the ground dead," Kiae added softly, and then turned a bright red. "I'd do the same for Ethin or Andurael," she continued quickly.

"I'd take the arrow for you, Kiae, even if I wasn't your Warder and you know it." Cobain said quietly. "I'd really rather drug you. Your natural reaction is going to be to flinch and move away. This arrow's too close to your heart, I don't want to risk that." He said, pulling a long, thin and razor-sharp knife from under his coat he kept just for this purpose.

"I have more control than most people," she retorted, closing her eyes. "Do it quick and make sure I don't bleed to death," she ordered, her hands clenched so tightly her palm was bloody.
"I'd mask the Bond if I could," she suddenly added.

Cobain sighed and spun the knife once through his fingers nervously. "Don't worry about it." He said simply. He made a slit in the front of her dress and shift and hesitated a moment before cutting into her skin. He could feel it in his own chest, but it was more of an irritation than anything. He quickly sliced a slit for the arrow and gently removed it, tossing it to the side. "You don't happen to have a bandage on you, do you? Nevermind, I picked one up in town." He said. He eased her into a sitting position and began to undo the buttons on her back to bandage her chest.

"Good thinking," Kiae managed through her lips, which were pale as she pressed them together to keep from crying out in pain. Tears formed in the corners of her eyes, but she stubbornly refused to blink.
"I always feel I'm such a burden to you," she mumbled, doing her best to keep her breathing steady and not flinch.

((If I manage to spell "Kaie" instead of "Kiae" I've been correcting myself for hours now, so keep an eye out. stressed I gots the stupidfingers tonight.))
"You're not a burden to me, Kiae." Cobain said softly, pulling her dress and shift down. "You're not a burden at all. Without you, I wouldn't have anything." He deftly bandaged Kiae's wound, which looked like it would be bleeding for a while. "I'll need to change that bandage a few times." Cobain told her, tying it tight.

(Not a problem, I've got a bandaged hand and cold fingers, so I keep backspacing.)
Kiae winced as it tightened, grimacing from the pain. "You at least wouldn't have to do so much bandaging," she remarked lightly, trying to keep her embarassment and sudden self-consciousness out of her voice.
She unclenched her hand finally, discreetly blotting her palm with her skirt. "And why do you always get sentimental when I'm in pain?" she demanded, eyeing him briefly before returning to the interesting grass beside her.

"I'm just a sentimental perosn, I suppose." Cobain said, shrugging. "I'm just glad that I can be here for you. It's a good feeling to know that someone's there." He said, shrugging again and doing up Kiae's buttons. "You just seem to keep getting yourself into trouble." He said, poking her lightly in the side with a small grin. "Can you stand?"

(I got it caught in a shopping cart while unloading boxes at work, and ripped the top of my knuckle off. So it's all band-aid-ed and fun s**t.)
"You? Sentimental?" she repeated with a snort, and winced again. "And it is a good feeling," she agreed suddenly. "It's why Sisters have Warders. Most of them, anyway," she amended.
"And I don't think. My whole side's numb," she admitted, gripping his arm as she tried to push herself up and thought better of it.

(I believe it. This shopping cart thing's the stupidiest thing I've done in a while. The pharmacist had to give me a band-aid because I was BLEEDING. Like, all over the place. Sad...)
"We can't go back to town," Kiae said shortly, shaking her head. "If the Darkfriends are already there, I'm in no condition to handle them. And if they aren't, there's no reason to give them any ideas. Ethin can find me when he's ready," she added, thinking of her other Warder.
"There should be more encampments around here," she suggested hopefully, giving Cobain a look he could never resist, and she knew it.
(I was thinking they could meet up with a Tinker family, either Cobain or Kiae know 'em. Whatcha think?)

((I likes it. They've both done a lot of wandering, so it seems like the sort of thing that would happen. Which reminds me! I saw a picture of the mandolin and now understand how your mother cut her fingertips off.))
"Okay then." Cobain agreed, standing up and leaning over to gather up Kiae. "But we're not going anywhere 'till you've rested a bit and I've had a bath. We look like Hell." He added, grinning.
((I don't think the Tinkers would appreciate it much if they showed up drenched in blood. xp ))

(So, ideas then? Mine was to have them clean up at the camp! xd It's all good, though, I don't care.)
"You look like hell. I look fairly decent," Kiae corrected, squeaking as he swung her up and grabbing his neck.
"You just can't stay neat, that's all," she added with a grin.
