The bike ride up Rout 36 was quicker than expected, but then again this was his home territory. Though he had never really left home before, he biked up and down this road many times growing up. As Crenu entered the Ecruteak, he couldn't help but feel an air of pride, this was his home town. Home of the Tin Tower and the old burned down one as well. But with those feelings also came an almost sad, dreadful feeling. Somewhere in this very town was his mother, and the memories of his father as well. But Crenu was a proud person who would never let his emotions get the better of him, instead he just kept them bottled up inside. This would not be a happy home coming, in fact it wouldn't be a home coming at all. He made a choice when he left, and he wasn't going to go back yet. He was not ready to come home, he had no intention of facing his past anytime soon. His quiet humble home lay mere yards in front of him, but he just peddled past it and went right on by to the Rout 42 exit. Mt. Mortar was the reason had come back full circle from his journey, and that was all there was to it. He had no time for silent uncaring widows.
As she watched a young blond boy peddle off out of town, a light stream of salty water trickled down Dora's cheek. The curtain slipped out of her hand and veiled the window once more, leaving the room dark again. "Oh Shiro..."

Ryka shook her head jokingly. "You better be careful from now on, or I'll have to hunt you down!" She laughed a little and nodded at Jaeshan want over to the counter. Ryka crossed her legs on the couch and, almost immediately got lost in her thoughts. She wondered how all of her old friends were doing, how all of her Pokemon were faring.
I'm sure that Jae is taking great care of Beldum. I wonder how Twilight and Blitz are... and Vixen.. I-I hope she's okay.. Thinking of Vixen was a sore spot for Ryka. She tried to hold back a few stray tears as she switched her thoughts to happy things. But I have some new friends too. Thistle and Lilac... And of course, Jae's here.. and Kassie too! I wonder how she's doing..
Ryka almost didn't notice when Jaeshan returned. As he sat next to her she snapped back into reality. "What?" She blinked, "Oh! Uhmm.. no, I don't have any plans like that... Except for the Beach Party, of course." Smiling, she turned to face Jaeshan. "If you don't have anything else planned, would you.. uh.. like to go with me?" She blushed a bit, but not so much. Ryka had matured from her earlier times, when this kind of thing would've turned her red as a Krabby.

Kilik nodded slowly, trying his best to stand up straight. How was he supposed to explain what had happened without sounding like a lunatic? Then again, it's not as if Mike didn't already know some weird stuff about his friends. After all, Nina (wherever she may be) was a psychic. Maybe that's why the didn't connect. Without paying attention to the battle and paying too much attention on his own wellbeing, be didn't notice Elekid get blasted by the Overheat. Luckily, the damage wasn't near as high as it could have been but damn did it hurt. The plug took quite a fall and the fatigue was starting to show. Elekid stood back up, still raring to go.
"Okay, Elekid," Kilik was finally back to normal, "Attack with another Low Kick." With a nod, Elekid started dashing forward, pumping his arms as he ran. It appeared that he was trying to run faster than he did the last time he executed a Low Kick, though it was probably to avoid the chance of getting blasted by another Psychic. The plug locked onto Magby's feet and went down into a slide, a slide worthy of a home-run hitting baseball player.

It was the dawn of a new day, or at least it was getting clearer now. Crenu checked his watch, it was around 7 o'clock in the morning when he peddled out of Ecruteak. Mt. Mortar was large and intimidating, he had never gone near it before this day. His father never let him play in that area, said there were tough pokemon about that even tougher trainers, some of them with short tempers. But now this was a mountain he would have to overcome, or enter at least. He wasn't planning on climbing through the mountain or anything, at least not yet. He was just going in there to train for now, he wouldn't have to go that far into the cave to do that. Looking into the entrance of the cave, he took a deep breath. It was dark, almost to dark to see, but he went in anyway. The entire time he felt an uneasy presence. In the dark he could hear the flapping of wings getting closer and closer, Zubat were sure to populate this cave, and they were known to be blood suckers. The Bat pokemon screeched loudly and suddenly they all fled at the sound of a deafening roar. Crenu didn't know how to react, and as the source of the roar stomped closer, he was able to make out what it was. A rather large Ryhorn had come charging through the cave and was charging straight for Crenu. he was able to narrowly escape the charge and reached for his pokeball. "Poliwag, Water Gun!" Poliwag shot a jet of water at the foe the moment he took form. It looked like a direct hit, but even that didn't seem to slow the Rydon down. The water only angered it as it charged again straight through the water with it's horn spinning rapidly. "Move Poliwag!" Poliwag jumped out of the way, but the Rydon seemed determined. It turned around and charged again. "Ice Beam, aim for it's legs!" Poliwag took the time to charge his attack, but the Ryhorn was to fast. He would take a full hit if he didn't fire, so Poliwag let the attack go before it was fully ready. Rydon's feet became encased in ice, but only for a moment. The beast broke free of it's frozen shackles with ease and charged stomped the ground hard, sending rocks tumbling down from the cave ceiling. The red return beam washed over Poliwag as it became clear that he was no match for the Rydon.
"Machamp, Rock Smash!" The gruff voice of another person echoed as a big muscular pokemon with four arms jumped into the rock slide. With his four hands brimming with power, the Machamp began furiously smashing the falling rocks that the Ryhorn had attacked with. The furious Ryhorn charged the Machamp with another Horn Drill, but the muscular pokemon grabbed him with his mighty arms and stopped the Ryhorn cold. "Now Machamp, Cross Chop!" The Machamp held tightly with two arms while he crossed his other two arms to make an X. His arms started to glow and as the Ryhorn broke free, the Machamp lunged forward and chopped with all his might, leaving a glowing X on the Ryhorn's chest. The Ryhorn fell back, KOed instantly. "Good job Machamp. You alright boy?" The figure of a large man in a karate uniform stepped into Crenu's vision, which was adjusting to the cave.

((Say Crenu I'm a bit confused... was that a Rhyhorn or a Rhydon in the cave? You kinda went back and forth between the two. sweatdrop )) Jaeshan noted the sad look that overcame Ryka's face, but he decided not to question it for now, knowing that she would likely fill him in when she felt up to it. After all he had only just found her again and he didn't want to push her away already. He smiled at her proposition, and nodded. "Of course! It'll be great," he said. "I've been looking forward to the Beach Party for a while now. It'll be nice to meet up with old friends again, and possibly make some new ones."
It was still early outside, only about two o'clock in the afternoon. Jaeshan studied his watch, looking around. "I was thinking about heading over to the gym and challenging Roxanne," he told Ryka, fidgeting with his new PokeNav for a moment or two. "I've been wanting to try and collect some Hoenn Badges as well as Kanto ones," he added. "It's kind of odd that my next gym back in Kanto is Erika's though," he chuckled, knowing he wouldn't be going back to Celadon until Combusken was a lot tougher.

Mr. Rustings saw the charging Ivysaur get past their defenses - who were namely Grace and Spade, who were currently busy keeping M.A. and Sae at bay respectively; they were both trying to get to their father, or at the very least behind him to try to intercept his pass. Bud Jr. the Kabuto was... doing really nothing, just sitting there in the sand and clicking his teeth or jaws or whatever. Oh, no good, he wouldn't be able to make a run of any consequence here. "Miah!" he suddenly said when the Ivysaur was mere inches away, whipping the ball sideways to a just slightly behind Mrs. Rustings.
"Oh dear," the woman said, her hands clumsy and fumbling with the ball. "What do I do with this one?" Oh, I'll get it to Spade, he'll be able to goal pretty quickly, the woman thought, lifting an obviously not very athletic arm to throw. As she threw her hand back to get more leverage, she actually let go of the ball--!
Which, naturally, went straight to Grace who was coincidentally nearby. The Mantine chortled and suddenly sped up, using Agility, right beside M.A. like a fleeting ghost. Sand sprayed everywhere, giving her a cover for everyone besides M.A., who doggedly went after her.
From the other side, Sae was running after Spade, who had shot off like a rocket. Of course he didn't keep up too long, though. The young man stopped trying, giving it up this time. "Go figure," he laughed, "Mum has never yet made a failed pass. She has absolutely no athletic ability, but she does got one thing -- amazing luck!"
M.A. frowned, charging after the Mantine as she was. After the initial Agility, the water-type was simply floating along, just out of her reach. She probably thought she was already far ahead of M.A. -- Grace was amazing when it came to avoiding others, but her wide blind-spot was her rear. With a flying hug-like motion, M.A. stopped the Mantine and tagged her where she was.
"MM," the Water-type said, muffled through the ball in her mouth. She turned around, seeing who she could pass it to. Everyone was catching up now, and she was just a sitting duck after getting tagged. But there was one person on her team who was totally open. She thrust the ball towards Spade, who shot past them all even despite M.A.'s attempt to get at him.
Between the goal and Spade, there was only Daemyn, who had been assigned for the back just in case this happened.
Okay, just like training, the Houndour thought, staring down the charging Linoone. Wait until he was closer. And then mo--
Oh wait, his training had been about evading, not stopping. The pup watched dumb-foundedly as Spade continued to barrel on on his straight-arrow path and make a score.
"First point is ours!" Mr. Rustings grinned, shooting a V "victory" sign up in the air.
Sae let out a burst of air in his grin. "Oh, no matter, we'll score it back and then some! Our ball now," he said, pulling the team in for a "strategy talk." "Alright everybody, no strategies, just do whatever you feel like! Mitsu, go ahead and start the game, and pass to... Ivysaur, yeah. Everyone else, defend him when he's running if possible, and if not, just shake off whoever's on you and get open for the pass."

Napalm didn't have the time or energy to evade the Elekid's Low Kick, as he was too preoccupied with catching his breath from that last attack. Two Overheats in a row drained his reserves very fast. The hit connected, sending the Magby spiraling to the side and into the dirt. As he pushed himself up the Pokemon felt his legs seize up, and Napalm felt himself back in the dirt again.
"Crap." Mike grumbled. He knew what that meant: paralysis. Napalm being paralyzed will really put us in a bit of a spot. The boy wrinkled his face, wondering what he could do with the hand dealt to him. He needed to cut his opponent's speed way down. "Hang in there Napalm, give him a Fire Spin!" He hoped this would at least put a stop to all the running about.
After a moment of wrestling with his own body, the Magby cocked his head forward and loosed a spiraling wave of flames. They hit the ground and expanded into a wall of fire that surrounded the two Pokemon. He watched as the fire teasingly licked at his opponent. Even if he was hurting badly from all the attacks and he didn't have much left in him, the drastic spike in heat at the very least made him more comfortable.

Mitsu hadn't done much for the first round, though she understood the game now. Spade and Grace were rather good at the game and she wonder quietly how humans coulda keep up with thier attacks such as Agility and their overwhelming speed. Compared to them humans just looked like Macargos. Upon hearing Sae's plans Mitsu held the ball in her hands and decided to run forwards a bit, somehow getting farther from the opponents goal without an interception or tag. Throw to Ivy, Sae had decided and that's what she would do. "Up!" she shouted to her slightly oversized Ivysaur. And with that note she threw the ball upwards and it wobbled a bit behind her as if it were unsure of it's own course.
Leaving no moment for the ball itself to decide as it reached it's zenith and began plummeting back to earth, pulled by the invisible force long ago named gravity, Ivy whipped out two olive green vines and securely wrapped them around the ball before once again taking off head long to thier goal. An amazingly executed Vine Whip Mitsu had to admit. Ivy grinned, confident in his own ability as Team Senior, as Sae had called them, remained unaware of Ivy's secret weapon, one that would prevent him from being tagged within an instant.

"Go Ivysaur, go!" M.A. cheered from behind as she struggled to keep up just in case he needed a pass. Her father, although only an inch or so taller than her, was difficult to get around though, and with him sticking to her like white on rice she probably wouldn't be open much.
Sae was grinning wolfishly; he liked this friend of Mitsu and her Pokemon plenty already. They looked like the spunky, fun sort. Besides that, since Team Senior didn't know much about them, they could pull any kind of trick up their sleeve. He, unlike M.A., was entirely open, but only because Spade had abandoned him to speed after Ivy.
The Linoone's greatest weakness was revealed rather shortly, however. When he was just about to catch up to Ivysaur, the Grass-type had shifted in direction just slightly. And Spade, unable to turn at his speeds, continued to plough on his straight line, making a sharp turn a little while later. By then, though, the Ivysaur was out of his reach.
Next to try to catch him was Mrs. Rustings. However, she got distracted by a little boy who had run crying to her from nowhere, looking for his mother.
Bud Jr. did... nothing.
So the last line of defense was Grace. She was defying gravity like a blue plane, rapidly coming towards Ivy at a diagonal. Behind her, Daemyn was hauling butt, but his speed couldn't compare with hers yet and he wasn't really able to block her or anything. Almost there, the Mantine thought cheerfully. Almost there, mm, right heeere --

Mitsu, who was previously busy covering Mrs. Rustings saw her chance to make a run for it as a small child ran into her arms. And as far as she knew the kid had the wrong mom. Dashing to join Sae the two trailed after Ivy in case he would need to pass. And that looked the case right now as Grace was quickly closing in on her prey. Mitsu's face brighted as she remembered the plain colored disk she had pressed to Ivy's head long ago in the steaming, hot, humid town of Lavaridge. Thinking on her feet she sharply shouted, "Protect! Ivy!" A bright green barrier shot up in a sphere around Ivy. Time seemed to move slowly all of a sudden. Five, four, three, two, SMASH! The barrier was erected just in time for Grace to run (or float) right into it, face first. The barrier sparkled and the colors contorted in varying shades of green before evaporating away. With no one to block him up ahead but the wayward Linoone who was already off course Ivy passed the trash can, thier goal, and scored a point. The game was now tied one-to-one. Completely happy with his victory Ivy tossed the ball up and down as if he were juggling it with his vines effortlessly awaiting instruction from one of the Rustings on who to give the ball to.

Sae laughed. "Nice one, Ivy!"
Grace was pouting a bit. Aww, she just made a fool of herself! Ah well, no matter. That really was a good move. In a congenial gesture, she gave Ivy an uber wide grin before floating back to their line.
"You guys really did catch up! Ms. Mitsu, you and your Pokemon are something serious," Mr. Rustings said in his booming voice with just as wide of a grin as Grace's. "Well, let's continue! Over here with that, Ivy, ol' chap!"
The formation was pretty much the same this time, save for Mrs. Rusting's uncanny ability to dance and weave just out of the attackers' attempts to tag her. Just when M.A. was about to get her, the woman tripped and just managed to dodge her daughter's hand, albeit totally accidentally. Amazing luck was right!
She miraculously got almost half-way down the field when Sae caught her. "Aw, you caught me, Michael!" she said, tapping his head like he was still a little boy, even though he was nearly a head taller than her. "Ah, well, here darling!" The ball, of course, didn't make its planned route to Mr. Rustings, but instead made a beautiful arch towards Spade.
Daemyn wasn't about to let him have it again! Without really thinking, he released a rolling Smog across the immediate area, obscuring the ball but--
"Daemyn!" M.A. coughed. "Not a good idea!"
"Foul play!" Mr. Rustings said, a bit muffled behind his hand. "Yer out for now, buddy!"
But then, where was the ball...?

Ivy coughed and coughed for the Smog was no good for his system. To counteract the poison he unleased a heavenly scent, Sweet Scent. The air cleared though bit of pink clung to the air making it smell rather sweet. He tried not to overdo it though, knowing other Pokemon couldn't come in and mess up thier game.
Spade had somehow managed to get the ball despite Mr. Rustings' call of foul play. But he couldn't see where he was headed and crashed right into Mitsu. Both fell and the ball hung loosely in the air. Though it was a stretch Ivy used another Vine Whip to catch the ball and launch it right to Sae who happened to be open. "Ivy! Saur!" he roared before letting it loose, a perfect toss right to M.A.'s brother. He rather liked Sae and hope an interception would not be made.

"Yeeeeah!" the young man hooted when he caught the ball. No matter how old he got, he would always have that bit of fun-loving boy in him, and M.A. couldn't resist a brief smile. But first -- "Mitsu, you alright there?" She looked okay, and the sand was pretty soft, so she took off immediately after the answer, waving at Tora at the sidelines as she did. "Come in! You'll sub for Daemyn, alright?"
Sae dashed away, working past his father with a spin. Behind him, his sister kept close, her long legs carrying her easily. They could have been track stars with this kind of natural ability, honestly. Still, Grace boosted to catch up to them, tapping Michael fondly on the top of his head. "As always," he sighed, passing it to M.A. so nonchalantly that Grace hardly noticed.
Tora stopped at M.A.'s side, looking up at her with expectant eyes. "Oh, want the ball? Here," the girl said, smiling and handing it off.
The Phanpy was off in a sand-whippin' spin, a Rollout with the ball sandwiched neatly in between. There was no way anyone was going to steal that ball! It would have been an easy goal for them with Spade back at the collision site, if only.... If only Tora hadn't started running the wrong way.
"TORRAAAA, TURN AROUND!" M.A. yelled, hoping to get across to her Pokemon. Her training of focusing and listening apparently helped though, for she did switch directions -- but by then, Mr. Rusting's had stopped her by picking up the little elephant (with a little grunt, for she was kinda heavy). "Hey, that's not fair," M.A. protested.
"All's fair in love and war. Except poison and paralyzation." Her father had been both poisoned and paralyzed the very first time they tried out rugby. Needless to say he instated those two rules afterwards.
Then the man ran towards his goal with Tora and ball in hand. "Goooooooooaaaaaalll!"

Watching the two boys battle was quite a show for Serenity. She never tired of watching people battle their pokemon. She found that it was the one time that the pokemon were actually given the showcase that they deserved insted of just how awesome the trainers were. Though she had to admit that both Mike and Kilik seemed to have developed fabulous training skills. Only once did she see the Magby act with out any instruction from it's trainer, and Sere thought that the pokemon using it's own instincts in a fight this far in wasn't all that bad of any idea anyway.
Sere found that the heat from the Magby was getting uncomfortable for her, so she picked up the ever cool Mudkip and sat him on her lap. She had another used for him as well, when the battle started to get a little rough she was able to duck behind the pokemon so she wouldn't have to see the poor pokemon hurt. I'm going to have to go through this soon enough, but that doesn't mean I have to see it now.
George seemed amused by his trainer's use of him for a shield. After all it was rediculous to use something so small to hide behind. He wondered what she would do when he got hurt in battle which was inevitable. Who would she hide behind then?

"Don't apologize," Keegan told her gently, rubbing her shoulder. "Sheena is annoying, but she is a nice girl..." he trailed off, deciding it wasn't a good time to be discussing the bubbly pink-haired girl. Instead, he chose to say nothing and simply lead the way home. By the time they reached his house, Keegan was starting to feel exhausted, the busy day having taken its toll on him. His parents, being the early-risers they were had already retired for the evening, giving them a quiet atmosphere to relax in. "You hungry?" he asked, poking his head in the fridge and looking around. "I could make us something if you want."
