SpeedmanRC I use my angle grinder from work to just take the top lip off...done fast and easy but still had sharp edges. oh, update 
I LOVE IThow easy was the conversion? noticed you put on the awesome wooden tapco AK furniture (which is one thing tapco got right)

I like the feel a little more for wood... xd

I like the feel a little more for wood... xd sweet, now you pretty much have your own russian made ak74. most likely higher quality than arsenal builds because you did it yourself to ensure it came out the way that you wanted it to. (a lot of arsenals ship out with crooked front sight posts and have other problems because their quality control went down pretty badly) unless you care about how tacky the rifle may look, you may only wanna use the black ak74 mags. because bakelite mags are gonna look funky with the grey stock and handguards xp

Those bottom two are the most beautiful Mosins I've ever seen.
Also, I've got that same recoil pad on my SMLE. How's it work on the mosin's boat-oar stock? I've at least got a sling swivel to keep it in place.

I love the laminates, the recoil pad works great, stays in place and I can shoot the mosin all day with that. I'm a skinny guy and with out it I feel it after 20 rounds...and by 40 rounds there is a little light pain with it.
