Meriko Midnight3476: It's sort of questionable. ^^; I mean...I paged through the first few pages and then threw it back onto the book rack before running away. There's full frontal nudity and her on-off switch is her cervix. Not my cup of tea, even if the artwork is pretty. Then again, most things that come from Japan have some kind of nudity or pervertedness... I don't think I've read a single manga book that didn't have some sexual innuendo or graphical explictness. Japan just seems to be a very perverted country, in my opinion. No offense to you, Meri. Just, what kind of country holds a giant two-story mall that only sells Hentai? o.O; Meriko Unknown Variable: It's mostly memorization rather than rule-obeying, so just...take lots of notes, review like there's no tomorrow, and do mnemonic exercises. ^^; The vowels are pronounced pretty much the same as in Spanish. The ra-ri-ru-re-ro sound is neither R nor L.
When you make an R sound, the sides of your tongue press up against your molars, and the tip of your tongue stays free. When you make an L sound, the tip of your tongue pressed against the back of your front teeth and the sides of your tongue stay free. When you make a Japanese ra sound, you start out as if you are going make an English R, but you use the tip of your tongue to make the sound, just like an English L, but keeping the sides of your tongue in place. So it's a hybrid R-L sound. I'm all up for the memorization rather than the rule-obeying. In french class, we had to make sentances, but we had to practically go through a giant list mentally to make sure nothing inturrupted the flow of words. Of course, most of the class would make a tiny error, and the teacher would have to take ten minutes per person to say "And does it do this? What happens when that's placed there? And why does that happen? When does that not happen?" It was all a very grueling experience. Thanks for the tips, Meri. whee

Midnight3476: Sure, go for it. ^^
Alex: If you strolled down the Romance aisle of Barnes and Nobles without looking at any other aisle, you'd probably think that America was obsessed with tawdry romance and nothing else. Most of the manga that is shipped over to America is of questionable taste, but I think that's a reflection on America, not Japan. There are buttloads of manga (the shoujo genre) that don't even bring kissing into the picture. Just the occassional embrace during an empassioned confession. They, however, would not sell as well over here, so they stay in Japan. *heh*
I haven't seen a single one of my favorite mangaka brought over to America. *pouts* You guys are missing out on the most beautiful artwork ever. T__T

T__TI'm not even a huge anime/manga fan, but it drives me mad when people are all "Oh, isn't that all sex and violence and tentacles?" Some people can't see beyond their own noses. I haven't read all the manga in the world, but at least I have the sense to understand that there's more of it out there than what I have seen.

Cutie: Obviously there's more to it than what I've seen. If you were to do heavy research on Japanese economic culture, however, you'd see that there's an excess of nudity in almost everything. There's nudity and sex in most books and television shows. There's huge malls dedicated to just selling things of sexual nature. There's even children's cartoons that deal with sex! So while there is some good natured and clean material, I'm just stating that there's an abundance of the opposite.

Midnight3476 *thinks* can any of you think of a red haired demon/vamperic like anime charecter? sweatdrop *pages through her limited knowledge of anime and quickly runs out of references* Nope. Every anime red-head I know of is a normal human being, and every vampiric/demonic character I can think of has cool-toned or black hair. ^^; I don't have much to do with anime though, so it's probable that I'm just not familiar with any of the redheaded ebil wenches out there.
