Stray_Dog Everything has its niche. Barton rps are more character-centric and focus on the interaction between the characters. It moves faster and the characters can carry on entire conversations in the time it takes any of us to grind out a single post. Not only that, but Barton is absolutely saturated with rps. They can't really afford to alienate that 98% of folks who are either unable or unwilling to write up several paragraphs for every reply. That said, I can't defend ALL users of the one-liner. Just saying, there can be a good cause for it and it CAN be acceptable sometimes. _ ▀ _▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ _ ▀ _▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ _ ▀ _▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄_ ▀ _------- sudo
▀ _ True story. Also why I never bug you for length of post, just posts in general. lol <3I also tend to be a very controlling roleplayer, which people don't like at all, so I've cut back on roleplaying to the point of none so I don't piss people off. Got too used to writing my own s**t, can't even remember how to roleplay right, mostly because of this character centric stuff. Its almost impossible sometimes to deal out a decent story in the midst of character interaction and leaving room for others to work around it and the story to go somewhere. That's not to say all of them end up like that.
This is coming from someone who's always in Barton. > > I know, I'm a traitor, a whatever you want to call me.
One liners (Or one tiny 2 or so sentence paragraph, depending) are completely counteractive in my opinion. Especially in a roleplay where everyone else fluidly composes 5-10 sentences a paragraph a post, give or take. If that's all you have to say, ask someone to add that little bit into a post of theirs so it doesn't stop anything, and prevents other one liners. Otherwise, wait, see if you can't gather up more details to make something a little better, or what you have to say isn't that important and can wait for a full post. Y'know? However, in a roleplay where only a few lines are written for each character, its completely acceptable. This is where that stupid lit bullshit comes into play. If you have a roleplay where you say you want at least 4 paragraphs, a one liner isn't acceptable. If you want at least a paragraph, well, depending on the length of that paragraph, a one liner is a perfectly acceptable response. Pro-tip, never start in a roleplay that's not had a first 5 posts so you get a good feel for the expected length of posts. I actually got bitched out because of a short post for a character of mine I wasn't completely familiar with, even though I coupled his post with my post for another character right above it, who's post was 3x longer than the 'normal' posts.
There's a link in my sig that links to some good guidelines and rules, and tips, and I have started to live by this thread. lol xD
But you know, I think all of that should only apply to Barton. There, its a dog eat dog world, here, we're all good friends and no one gets too hurt over something. We all understand if you cant post a full paragraph. Sure, some don't like it, but we understand. I mean, obviously if its happening over and over, you need a little help, and being part of this guild should mean doing your part to help each other, right? /late to the party
I wanted to give my opinion. > >
Anyway, all the fun stuff happens when my internet goes out. >:c S'where I've been. That, and the Grouplove concert in Seattle. > >_ ▄
