Honestly, X3 is the black sheep of the franchise. It is where things went off the rails, and is generally seen as the worst of the lot. X-Men First class is a truly fantastic film, and the new one follows suit with that trend. I strongly recommend them!

Oh, yes, I recognize the lack of quality in 3 for sure. If 1st Class is better, then I guess i'll check it out some time.

Most definitely, I find First Class to be better. 3 is generally regarded as the weakest film. *shrugs*

I happen to loathe Wolverine (I like the actor, though), so to me the wolvy-focused ones would be the worst.

*cringe* then . . . you may wanna skip the new movie. The storyline in the comics had Kitty Pryde (shadowcat) going back in time to change history. In the new film, it was said that nobody could survive going that far back in time. Logan's healing ability is the only thing that allows him to survive . . . and despite plans to send charles back, Logan is the only one that can. He is a big-ish part of the film so that he can try to rescue Erik, and get Charles to care again.

Ah, thanks for the head's up, then. Time travel... Kitty Pride didn't have that power, so who's doing that for them?

Actually, the movie let Kitty do that. She can send most people a day or three back in time (into their own bodies, mind you). She spends most of the movie concentrating on keeping Logan in the past. He doesn't have all that much of a pivotal role as it concentrates on Xavier, but some bits are good . . . such as this was before Logan had the adamantium, so at one point he was wierded out a bit at a metal detector not going off on him.

Oh, I see. Interesting evolution of her powers... So, is she both bringing forward a past self's consciousness and sending back the current one (full transposition)?

No, it is a case of superimposing the future persona upon the past body. If the connection wavers, or if she loses the connection, the body resumes the conciousness of that era/time. The future self appears to be near comatose, though in some instances Logan lashed out physically in the future from issues in the past (he saw somebody that really pissed him off).

Okay, I see. I suppose that would work well for Logan, since he barely remembers most of his past.
That was pretty epic.

It also serves as a reset button. By this movie's logic, all the previous Xmen movies except first class no longer happened- only Logan will remember them.

Ah, the conveniences afforded by time travel. Well, that's a plus, ultimately, since X3 killed off so many people.

Not to mention the brutal and horrific handling of the Phoenix saga. I mean . . . damn. That was just awful.
