@Kitsune: Oh, okay. I misunderstood, then. biggrin
@Magni: Yeah, while teenagers may have time for that much detail in an RP (especially during summers), post-college adults usually don't have that much time to spare due to work and family.

I just haven't rp'ed in a very long time . . . nothign has grabbed my attention. The last thing was that Recombination (mutant/aberrent) rp . . . I did like that one. This new incarnation of Bleach sounded interesting enough, but that application process is far too big to tackle easily.

Well regardless of time on their hands, I don't understand how you could come up with enough required information to fill up 6 pages.

The elitist "The Role Playing Guild" (i think that was their name) was about as ridiculous, practically requiring its members to be novelists...

Ahhh, the Elite Roleplayers guild . . . I was a part of them, very briefly. After putting in a good effort (and those that have played with me know that is no small feat) I was deemed a B-tier player. When they said that, I told em to stuff it, and immediately departed.

Not much fun at all...
Well I suppose that would make me a C according to them. I remember kind of a big debacle about them, but maybe that was just a lot of RPR members venting frustrations at their elitism.

So they have grades as well? I wonder who exactly grades such things. What are the metrics? Do they actually tell you all the metrics before hand? Again I just think that would take the fun out of things, at least for me. It's much better if you get people from all different levels and backgrounds together if you want to actually see improvement. Dividing into groups tends to cause stagnation which is just so many levels of blah...

As I recall, the application process is lengthy, requiring an extensive sample of RP work to be assessed by the members of the crew. It is that committee that decided the worth of the author. As I understand it, the guild did not segregate the members . . . but the classification was an insult. Being called a B-grade felt like a slap in the face. "We let you in, though you barely are good enough." whatever. That sort of elitism is exactly what I abhor in any group.

I see, still that only sounds slightly better then I thought. -.- Well I suppose that is why we aren't there, some people just love their elitism.

From it's inception, the Refuge was a welcoming place to all members. The only caveat it has gained in recent years is a simple test to see who would actually read the rules if any were given. I prefer to say all are welcome here. 3nodding

Yikes, it sounds more like work than a hobby to be in that guild.
Yeah, but that caveat is a good thing, since that ensures some basal level of competency, not in roleplay, just in being attentive.

I'm very grateful for tht more open nature of the RPR xD As for expecting people to read and obey rules... Honestly I don't think that is far form to much to ask. If you want things to run smoothly and correctly you have to have some rules that people far from expecting completely arbitrary things or grading people.
