Tresondros Ecstuffuan The central point is, is that there is no reason for it to be illegal. The only reason it is illegal is because the pharmaceutical companies and paper companies throw money at politicians via lobbying to keep it illegal. It literally hurts the population by keeping it illegal. Crack Cocaine. There is a valid reason for it to be illegal. Methanphetamine. There is a valid reason for it to be illegal. Marijuana...There is no reason for it to be illegal other than that if it was legal, somebody loses money. lol... what. Crack and marijuana are illegal for the same reason. They're both narcotics that damage the body. The only reason alcohol and tabacco aren't illegal is because they've been around for thousands of years. Marijuana has been around about as long, but really only for natives, and they/things they care about don't matter.

So wait by saying that Alcohol (which damages the body) should be legal and that marijuana (which has about as much damage on the body many of the other substances that we consume on a daily basis) ought not to be legal...because...Only natives use it? The damage marijuana has on the body is negligible. Sure if you smoke marijuana all day every day, yeah bad things are gonna happen. If you eat twinkies all day every day, you will probably die much faster than having smoked weed. Anything that is done excessively is damaging to a person. Anything that is gonna put you to sleep, sleeping pills, etc, are likely going to be narcotics as well. Sleeping pills when taken excessively can be deadly as well. Doesn't mean they should be illegal.

What? Marijuana is indigenous to Central Asia, not North or South America. It's been in use longer than tobacco.
Coca leaves, the s**t used to make cocaine, however, is all over the place in South America.

Weed is a mute point, guys.
It's a drug. It has legit, ate medicinal uses. But what reason does someone have for using it recreationally?
For the fun of it?
Same reason alcohol is imbibed.
My argument makes no sense, for one ********, it's up to personal choice.
'MURICA.

The point is, the answer isn't to make things legal just because certain people choose to break the law. Don't get me wrong, I like drinking, but I like a lot of things that aren't good for me. It's human nature to like certain things that aren't good for you. It's better to get over that though and follow a purer path. The law can help remove the choice to err, which is for the benefit of all. One of the best ways to avoid temptation is to remove it.

Unfortunately, you can't legislate people into doing what's best for them.
That's why authoritarian governments are as Utopian as socialist or communist governments. Yeah, they sound like they'd be great for people on paper, make life better for them, yadda yadda yadda.. but in practice they're incapable of functioning. After a certain period of time they break down.
As it turns out, you can only legislate human nature as much as the desire to survive and prosper allows. Meaning you can legislate that it's not okay to kill each other.. but you can't legislate that it's illegal to kill yourself with chemicals or narcotics.

No KB. Drinking in moderation isn't unhealthy to any meaningful degree. You aren't knocking off years from your life span by drinking in moderation. Sure meth is gonna take your life away but having a beer on a Saturday night with your friends isn't going to ruin your life. The same goes for Marijuana. Smoking a bit with your friends while you hang out isn't going to ruin your life. The only reason marijuana is risky when used responsibly, is specifically because it is illegal...not because of the drug itself. Marijuana has no more business being illegal than Alcohol would. Now cigarettes. Those shits are addictive. Stopping is a problem. Because it builds a chemical dependency that dilutes the users ability to choose it becomes a problem worthy of being illegal. This is not a problem that Marijuana has. You can choose to stop. I've done it, several times when needed. Im just saying. Be an adult. Always act in moderation.

There are relatively few things you'll run into in normal life that will actively harm you even if taken in moderation. Few enough that your point is essentially moot. The laws don't even exist because people use them in moderation/responsibly, they exist because they don't. The Thunder Tyrant Unfortunately, you can't legislate people into doing what's best for them. That's why authoritarian governments are as Utopian as socialist or communist governments. We used to have swords to enforce things, then firearms. The future can hold any number of tools to make the world a better place. It's only a matter of time.

If my Drunk Driving course taught me anything, it was this:
~4-6 oz of wine a day is better for you than complete sobriety.
