Gwyllion hadn't been feeling settled since they set foot in Britain.
He knew better. The land was good, the people, maybe not.... Then again, they called this the Land of Ghosts or the Dead for a reason.
There was hefty spiritual occurances here, and it wasn't hard to understand why in all those silent hills.
He glanced to Kitaria, trying to communicate with his eyes, his sword already out as well.
**What's going on, Kit-Kat??**

Eara froze likewise, just BARELY stepping out of the way of Fir.
If he would've hit into her, they both would've tumbled for sure, and pissed a few people off. A quick hand to his arm stabilized him and ensured he didn't fall off the cliff.
"What's wrong?" she whispered, glancing up to him as she removed her hand. "Someone here?"

"Everyone step exactly where I step," Kitaria order harshly, "If you don't think you can than don't move at all."

"What the hell's wrng, Auntie Kit?" Fir Darrig asked.

"Traps," the woman said, here narrowed eyes scanning the area, "Specifically targeted to catch souls. They're invisable to almost everyone else."

Gwyllion followed after without problem...

Eara, on the otherhand, just stayed back, a bit confused, only the slightest hint of fear in her eyes.
She just didn't want to risk it, honestly, and she was a bard, not an acrobat.
"I'll stay here." she whispered. "As much as I want to meet the bard, I can wait...."

"Stay with Era," Kitaria ordered Fir Darrig, keeping her eye on the ground before her, "And keep your eyes open. There's someone-"

She never got to finish her sentence, because an arrow appeared form nowhere aimed straight at the woman. Kitaria leaped in the air, just barely missing a second arrow and catching a third in her hand, twisting her body until she was able to catch a branch of a tree and hold herself up above the ground. There hadn't been a safe place to land.

"Gwyllion do not move!" Kitaria shouted, her eyes flickering back and forth. She looked at the arrow in her hand. "Herne,' she muttered, "Show yourself!"

Eara kept behind Fir, eyes darting around quickly.
"Where is he shooting from??" she whispered, glancing to Fir. "Herne's alive??"
Gwyllion grew grim, not budging an inch. "Kit... Hey Kit, what do we do??"
PostPosted: Wed Sep 26, 2007 3:39 pm

"Unless you remember exactly the step you already took, do not move," Kitaria commanded Gwyllion, "You'll have to use projectile weapons if you have them, or clear the trapped area with one move. But those traps will latch onto your soul. Do not act rashly."

"Hey Auntie Kit?" Fir Darrig called out, "This could be a little difficult."

Herne's undead hounds were appearing around the group, their iron claws and teeth glinting in the sunlight.

"Crap. Little Flower, unless you have badass warrior skills, how about you stick with me, kay?"

Another arrow appeared from nowhere, heading for Eara. Fir Darrig cursed and grabbed her arm, pulling her down.

Kitaria nodded, "Iron she said, looking to the arrow in her hand and throwing it down in disgust.

Still blancing on a tree branch she opened a pouch and threw throwing stars at the hounds. "Gwyllion, the hounds have no souls. The traps will not affect them!"

Gwyllion's eyes widened. "You can hold those and not die??" he blinked, surprised.
With things as they were, he had ALMOST forgotten the last step; very, very carefully he stepped back to safety, sword brandished tightly.
Eara yelped, one hand clenching onto Fir's arm. "What the hell is that?!!"
No, no badass warrior skills. Some warrior skills, yes, but nothing badass. She was more along the lines of warrior support.

Gwyllion on the otherhand began to gather fire magickally in his hands, trying to keep calm. With one quick throw, he held his breath, waiting for the attack.
If the fire didn't do anything, at least he had a sword.

"I'm wearing gloves," Kitaria reminded dryly. She dropped down from the tree to stand besides the other elves.

"Hmm, if I had to guess, I'd say undead dogs with anti fey modications," Fir Darrig said sacrastically. He braced himself for an attack, his spear ready and in his hands. "Better climb on my back, Little Flower," he told her. "We got our back to the soul traps and our fronts to these mutts. Better stick with me, 'cause have every intention of getting my little self to a safe position."

Kitarai nodded the Fir Darrig. He'd be more useful if he could work his magic from a distance. And Eara of course, was no fighter.

She ducked as another arrow whizzed past her ear. The hounds snarled and pounced forward.

Eara nodded, quickly climbing aboard.
"I haven't had a piggy back ride in years....." she blinked, clinging tightly to him.
He had every intention of getting to safety, and she had every intention of not falling.

"They seem a bit fire resistant." Gwyllion growled low, again working his magick.
This time, he'd try ice to freeze them where they were. Without the ability to move, they could focus on more dangerous threats, like the archer wielding iron arrows of all things.
"Be careful." he warned, "Keep your ears perked."
Whether the ice worked or not, with one hand he went to work with his swords. Whoever was aiming at them was more concerned about Kitaria, it seemed.

"Just don't let me get hit." Eara whispered, looking around wide-eyed. "I won't handle it very well."
That was true. Like Kit, their family was rather allergic to iron, moreso poisons; at least they could endure breathing it to a point. Getting stabbed with iron however could've easily been a death sentence.

"Like I would go through this trouble just to let you fall," Fir Darrig joked before taking off. More accurately a half of dozen Fir Darrigs and Eara's took off, each with identical scents and going in different directions.

Fir Darrig hopped on top of the hound's back, attempting to leap-frog his way through. "Keep your legs up," he warned her grimly. "If I get nicked its no big deal. I cast an illusion on the four of us that distorts are true location so it should throw off our enemy's aim."

Surprisingly, only a few hounds and no arrows went after the escaping pair.

"He's made them resitant to elemental magic," Kitaria said slashing some of the hounds in a frightening dance. She had to overact to every leap of the hounds and arrow. If she was so much as grazed she could die. The arrows were comming more frequently now, aimed at both Kitaria at Gwyllion and the dogs pressed their attack forward. If the two fighting elves back up too much they'd either tumble off a cliff or step in a soul trap.

Eara nodded. "Thank you..." she whispered, "But what about Kitaria and Gwyllion??? They can't handle all this themselves, can they???"

Gwyllion was fighting ferociously, ducking arrows the best he could.
These arrows wouldn't kill him, but it would come damn near close at the very least.
But the cliff gave him an idea, something that just might work. In an instant he had run one of the hounds through; with a grunt and a toss, he was able to fling the writhing creature from his sword towards the edge of the cliff.
"There's no way he'll survive the fall." he glanced to Kitaria, keeping close. "Throw them off the cliff if you can, or just keep dodging the arrows! I'll take care of them!"

"In case you haven't noticed, we're nto exactly out of the woods ourselves," Fir Darrig commented, gesturing towards a huge hound that was following them and gaining. There ws a small scratch on his leg that was bleeding.

"s**t. I think that one's got my scent. I'm not exactly sure how, but I don't think I can fool this one. Auntie Kit would know, but goddammit the last Hunter was hundreds of years ago. He's a freaking urban legend. A childhood Boogy-man!"

Kitaria did not comment, though she was doing quite well on her own, decapitating hounds and crippling them. Even so it was a slow process, just as setting them up to throw off a cliff.

Even though the pair were doing well, they were still effectively pinned in one location, and more hounds kept coming.

The as one, the hounds opened their mouths...and thick clouds of iron dust poured out.

The hound chasing Fir Darrig and Eara, likewise, opened his mouth and breathed out iron dust at the pair. "Cover your mouth, Little Flower!" Fir Darrig yelled, running as fast as he could. The dog was gaining.

Gwyllion's eyes widened. "FUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu@k!" he cursed, glancing to Kitaria and then to the dogs.
There was plenty of trees nearby. If he could throw her...
A quick glance at the tiny woman assured him he could, and besides, this was literally the only chance he'd ever get to literally save her. If she stuck around the iron dust she'd die.
He didn't care about the arrows. He didn't care about the hounds. She was the last one protecting the Korreds, and the Cauldron for that matter. Her life was far more important than his.
With this decision made, he suddenly lifted the woman over his head, sending her flying with an additional gust of wind towards the treetops.

Eara glanced behind her, eyes widening. "What happened to Kitaria?!!! She can FLY?!!!" she gaped. "That dog is HUGE! I heard from Morrigan that Herne was dead, too... I don't get it!"
But her eyes were now focused on the dogs that were probably going to rip her brother apart. "GWYLLION!!!!" she shrieked. "GWYLLION!!! OH GODDESS NO!"
She didn't know what to do, however. She was only a bard. But with the enslaught of iron dust, she took a deep, quick breath, closing her eyes and burying her face into his back.

"You idiot!" Kitaria snarled, "Put me down now!" But then she was flying through the air. She turned and landed catlike on her feet, turned...and found herself face-to-face with Herne.

"Long time no see, Lady Kitaria," The man said, his eyes glinting dangerously.

The hounds fell upon Gwyllion, but did not attack to kill. Instead, they used their claws to pin the man to the ground.

"Release him, Herne," Kitaria commanded, her eyes narrowing.

"Hang on, and hodl your breath!" Fir Darrig said, spinning on the spot and throwing his. The unexpected movement, combined with the dog's own mementum ended with the Korred spearing the hound completely through. The dog, however, didn't seem to notice, and got back up, snarling and walking towards them.

"Do these things ever die!" He yelleped, swinging himself and Eara upwards into the safety of the tree. The throw had given them that much of a distraciton at least, and the dog couldn't climb. Plus the iron dust was too heavy to float very far up.

Gwyllion was still waiting for the dust to settle; he couldn't hold his breath much longer.
Then again, with the dog on his chest, he could hardly breathe period. He was already starting to feel a nauseating, stinging sensation travelling through him, with most of the burning around his eyes, nose and mouth.
He was definitely in noposition to help anyone now.

Eara yelped again but kept to the tree, breathing deeply and trying to calm down. "How didn't that work??? Hey...Where's Kitaria??" she blinked, looking around. "Kitaria?!!! KITARIA! WHERE ARE YOU?!!"
Already she was thinking the Fianna dead, which if that was the case, the world really WAS going to hell.
