The temp's varying a lot here in FL, but I know it'll be a nice solid cold in CT when I'm home for the holidays.
I quite like the new chess theme of Gaia's top banner.

I have not paid it much attention, as I loathe the random item generators anymore. That said . . . I do enjoy a decent game of chess from time to time. 3nodding

I don't mess with CIs either, I just like the design of it.
Backgammon is also quite a fun game (it usually comes on the reverse side of all those chess+checkers sets).

I used to play chess with my mom a great deal . . . but I always lost. When I was finally able to win, I stopped playing for years!
Now I play every now and again with my kids. ^_^

I played with my dad a lot as a kid, but I was never able to win.
Board games are a good bonding activity; plus, chess expands the mind.

So . . . bit the bullet. I put up one of my most expensive items. It was going to be saved, but in the search of my grail, it was not important enough. Thus, my OMG is now up for auction.

Board games are falling out of favor with technological advancement . . .
As for Chess, I have already warned my daughters- any prospective dates will come and have a seat with me. If they cannot last a half hour and/or beat me in a round of chess, they do not get my kid for a minute. I can put up with a hell of a lot, but not an idiot.

The OMG is outside of my price range for sure. 3nodding I hope it sells.
True, though the digital versions of some (when combined w/ async multiplayer) are proving to be massively popular, like that Scrabble app. The more things change, the more they stay the same, since some people used to play chess by long-distance correspondence (mail or e-mail, depending on the era).
That's a great policy; fathers need to protect their daughters.

Yeah, well, my grail is coming closer. I'm at about 120 million, but need about 160. I'm hoping that the OMG will make me enough to not only get my grail, but also something else that reminded me lately . . . Cartier the Dragon.

Wow, that's incredible! That set of epic dragons are so expensive, but here's hoping.

Of course, there is also the Manslayer Duke of Lalane . . . that thing has an epic dragon as well, but it is nearly as expensive as the tail, so that would be the new grail after acquiring the item that has escaped me for years.

Concern: Rising.
OMGs sell for somewhere close to 60million. Right now, I have less than two hours left on mine, and it is currently at . . . bum bum bummmmmm . . . 3.3 million.
